If asked about my favorite udon restaurant in my town of Sakai, it would be "Zeniya" without a doubt. It was selected as one of the top 100 udon restaurants last year, and it's popular for a reason - the taste and service are impeccable. Even though prices have gone up, the quality is still top-notch. I ordered the "Petit Tempura Udon" which had a generous portion size, even though it's called "petit." The noodles were firm and satisfying, and the tempura toppings were delicious - large shrimp tempura, long fish cake tempura, juicy chicken tempura, sweet potato tempura, seaweed tempura, and shiso leaf tempura. Despite not offering a large size, the regular portion was already substantial at 500g. As someone who has eaten 1kg of noodles in the past, I still found this meal to be filling and delicious. It's my favorite udon spot that sets itself apart from others. Thank you for the meal!

On the way back from Kansai Airport, I looked up udon restaurants and found a popular one! When I arrived around 11:15, there were already about 7 groups waiting! They manage the waiting list and take orders in advance! I heard that the portions are quite large, so I ordered the "petit torichiku tempura bukkake" in extra small size, and my wife ordered the "petit tempura bukkake" in extra small size. We waited for about an hour before we could get in. The tempura was crispy and deliciously large! The noodles were firm and chewy, and very tasty! Even in the extra small size, the portions were enough to make us feel like our stomachs were going to burst! Thank you for the meal!

The portion size at this udon restaurant is huge. I ordered the chicken tempura and egg on top, even the small size was too much. The chicken tempura was the size of my palm and quite heavy, making it difficult to hold with chopsticks. Just this alone would be enough to fill up a normal person's stomach. The small size udon was 350g, while the regular size was 500g, so I'm glad I went with the small. Thank you for the meal.

I visited during lunchtime on a regular day. There was a wait for one group, so I waited outside the restaurant. They seem to make each dish to order, so there was a bit of a wait after ordering. I ordered the "Petit Chicken Tempura Udon - Extra Small" for 1,100 yen, I think. The portion was huge! I heard that it was a lot, so I chose the extra small size, but it was still a lot! The chicken tempura, which was supposed to be petit, was not so petit, haha. It looked like a full portion. The chikuwa was also overflowing from the bowl, and you couldn't even see the noodles. It took some time to eat, haha. The noodles had a good texture and were delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I have been living in Sakai for over 10 years, and there was a restaurant that I had always been curious about but never visited! Since I had a weekday off, I decided to visit the restaurant with my partner before it opened. Despite the small sign and a few cars parked outside in the residential area, we were able to enter without any issues. This time, I ordered the "Petit Manmaru Tempura Udon (small size) for 1350 yen, and my partner ordered the "Chiku Tamaten Tempura Udon (extra small size) for 950 yen. After a short wait, our orders arrived and they were huge! Even though I had learned from other reviews, the portion was still surprising. The noodles were small size, but it felt like a large size, and the tempura was filled with a variety of ingredients and piping hot. The shrimp tempura was surprisingly large for a small size. My partner struggled with the tempura because he doesn't like oily food. The noodles had a good texture and the broth was delicious. I also found noodles shaped like Sakai's keyhole-shaped burial mounds in the udon, which was a fun touch. It's no wonder this udon shop in Sakai has become a popular spot with multiple awards! By the time we left, there were nearly 10 people waiting in line. Thank you for the meal. PS: Since we were in the area, we also visited the Toto Monument nearby. While burial mounds are famous, this place is still relatively unknown!

One month later, I revisited the restaurant! I'm here at Zeniya-san again! Today, as always, I'm the first one here~ (˘ ³˘)~♬.*゚♡ About one month since my last visit, I was eagerly waiting for Zeniya-san, and when the owner came out and recognized me, saying "Good morning... Oh! You came back again! You're [My Name], right?" I was so moved! The temperature outside on the day I visited was over 34 degrees, but the owner sprayed water and mist to help us cool down. Even though it wasn't opening time yet, the hostess kindly invited us inside to wait. I quickly sat at the same corner table as my first visit, feeling excited. I ordered the Puchi Tempura Udon (small) with a half-boiled egg, and eagerly awaited its arrival. When the hostess brought it out, I was surprised to see that it was even bigger than last time! I made sure to take a photo before digging in. The freshly fried tempura, thick and chewy udon noodles, and flavorful broth were all delicious. Pouring the broth over the crispy tempura made it even more enjoyable. I had requested extra broth, so every bite was delightful. And of course, I finished every last drop! I also met Chamadon, the Udon mascot, again and couldn't stop smiling. The warm hospitality of the owner and hostess, the unbelievably tasty udon, and the nostalgic atmosphere made me grateful to be a resident of Sakai. I expressed my gratitude to the staff and promised to come back again. It was truly a delicious and happy experience. I love this udon restaurant. I will definitely be back next month!

Located in Sakai, this popular udon restaurant in Todoro is quite far from the station, yet there is always a long line even on weekday mornings. I ordered the Puchi Tori Chiku Tamaten Bukkake for 1,200 yen. The rumors were true - the portion was huge, with the tempura being especially large that you can hardly see the udon underneath. The udon itself was delicious, with a chewy texture. There was also a unique tomb-shaped udon included. Despite the effort to visit, I left satisfied with the delicious udon.

Water, towel, and something to pass the time are essential! We started lining up at 12:10 on Wednesday and finally met the udon at 13:10 ✨ This is Zenniya in Doto, Naka-ku, Sakai City ❤️ If you love Sanuki udon, this place is a must-visit, and they offer an extremely small size! They don't allow leftovers, so it was a bit intimidating, but even for women, the extremely small size is enough! Even the man next to me ordered a small size, haha. The tempura is huge, so keep that in mind when ordering!

I visited the famous restaurant Zeniya in Sakai and ordered the Ebi Vegetable Tempura Udon. It was a great choice as the tempura shrimp was surprisingly delicious! I usually don't eat tempura shrimp much, but the shrimp at Zeniya is a must-try. The size of the shrimp, the taste and texture of the batter, everything was perfect! Of course, the noodles were also fantastic. I ordered a small size (350g) and as a big eater, I was full until evening. I think women would be impressed if they ordered a small size. (laughs)

Arrived at 10:27 on a regular day. There were three people waiting outside. The restaurant opened at 10:40. We had to take off our shoes at the entrance before going inside, which was a bit of a hassle. It took about 20 minutes until our food was served, and it seemed like they were making each dish individually. The portion size was quite large for a "petit" tempura, with the tempura and noodles being more like two sizes up. The tempura was freshly fried, and when the broth was poured over it, it sizzled. The noodles had a firm texture with less chewiness, but the impact of the tempura overshadowed it. Overall, the meal was delicious. Personally, I would prefer a smaller portion of tempura with a lower price, as I wanted to savor the noodles more.

Today is my day off from work (*・ᴗ・*)و! The weather was good according to the forecast, so I decided to go to the Zeniya restaurant that I've always wanted to visit! I did my research thoroughly. The restaurant is located in a residential area and can be hard to find. Be careful with the size of the udon. It's not allowed to leave any food uneaten. The tempura size is huge. I really wanted to visit this restaurant someday, so I made sure to remember all the information. No mistakes. I'm extremely directionally challenged, so I left home early and relied on a map app to find the restaurant. To my surprise, I found the restaurant without getting lost. Hooray for map apps (ノ゚ο゚)ノ I was the first one to arrive, and I was thrilled because I really wanted to be the first to come and I left home early. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:32 am. Of course, I was the first one there o(`・ω´・+o) ドヤァ…! (happy) There was still some time until the opening, but I didn't mind waiting at all. After all, delicious udon was waiting for me (*¯ ꒳¯*) I waited happily, and at 10:30 am, the door opened with a creak. It was the landlady who came out early and opened the restaurant 30 minutes ahead of schedule. She welcomed me inside, and the interior of the restaurant reminded me of a cozy grandma's house. It was lovely. I love this kind of nostalgic atmosphere more than the bustling city or tall buildings. I chose a seat at the corner and waited for the landlady to come to take my order. She asked me what I wanted to order, just like a caring mother. I like being talked to in a friendly and equal manner rather than using formal language, so I was delighted. I ordered: - Puchi Tempura Udon (small) (¥1350) - Soft-boiled egg tempura (¥50) Total: ¥1400 The landlady asked if I was okay with the amount of food as the small size was already quite large and adding an egg tempura would make it even more substantial. I cheerfully replied, "I'm fine!" After taking my order, the chef cooked the udon and fried the tempura. I expected to wait for about 30 minutes, but to my surprise, the large tempura udon was served in just 5 minutes! The tempura was huge! I wondered what the regular size would be like. I took some photos and then started eating. The udon looked shiny and the tempura had a beautiful golden color. The visual presentation was amazing! I savored the udon first before trying the tempura. Delicious!

Visit date and time: 10:30 on Saturday Wait time: 1 hour Menu: Puchi Tempura Udon (small, cold) 1,350 yen + Half-boiled Egg Tempura 150 yen I arrived a little after 10 o'clock, but I needed to use the restroom so I walked to the nearby convenience store. When I returned, it was already 10:30 and the restaurant had opened. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in on the first round and ended up being fourth in line outside with a 1-hour wait. While waiting, I placed my order. I opted for the small size of the Puchi Tempura Udon after reading reviews mentioning its generous portion size. Even the small size had 350g of noodles (regular size is 500g). I asked the staff, and they mentioned that women usually opt for the extremely small size (200g). About 5 minutes after entering the restaurant, my udon was served. The tempura was so big that it overflowed from the bowl. The staff had warned me about the large portion, but it exceeded my expectations. The noodles had a firm texture and were chewy. They were delicious. The tempura was made with large shrimp and was crispy. The generous amount of bonito flakes sprinkled on top was also impressive. I understood the meaning behind the note asking customers not to leave any leftovers. I managed to finish the entire meal. My udon didn't have the special "Kofun Udon" shape, but my wife's did, so I only took a photo of it. I would like to try the udon with the "Kofun" shape next time. Thank you for the meal.

I had been giving up on going to the restaurant "Doutou Zeniya" after failing to find parking or facing long lines multiple times. I went there on an empty stomach in the morning, just craving for a cup of coffee. While waiting in line, I decided on my order by looking at the menu. I noticed they had small, regular, and large sizes, and I couldn't leave anything behind. Even though I thought the small size might be too little, I saw reviews saying the small size was enough. I ordered the small size of the "Puchi Ten Bukkake" udon. When it arrived, I wondered if I could finish it in one go. The noodles were in the shape of ancient burial mounds, and I wondered if they were a good choice. In the end, I couldn't finish it all, so I had to ask my husband to help. I did manage to eat the noodles in the shape of ancient burial mounds.

Osaka, Dotozeniya ☑️ Ebi-Ten Bukkake (small) When I searched for udon in Sakai City, this shop came up on top. The sizes are unique, with extra small being like a regular small, small being large, and regular being extra large. It's confusing, just tell me normally, haha. When the udon arrived, both the noodles and tempura were seriously massive. Is this considered small? Can I finish this? The udon at Dotozeniya is visually appealing with its distinctive bonito flakes and abundance of condiments, making it appetizing from every angle. The portion is so huge that you can't even see the udon. By the way, leaving any food behind is strictly prohibited here (so they should really specify the sizes). Nevertheless, the special udon made with natural ingredients is incredibly delicious. The location may be inconvenient, but it's definitely worth a visit. Thank you for the feast! Arrived around 11:40, waited for 6 people and got seated in about 30 minutes. There are 3 sizes available: small, regular, and large. I ordered the regular size and was warned that it's quite a lot, so be sure not to leave any. When the dish arrived, I was indeed surprised by the amount - it was like 2 and a half servings? The noodles were thick with a good chewiness, and the tempura was delicious. However, there was a bit too much grated radish towards the end, which made it a bit watery. The location is quite inconvenient, but it's definitely worth the visit.

Famous udon restaurant in Sakai. I heard from my mother that this place has the most delicious udon in Sakai, so I really wanted to try it and visited during my trip back home! Location: About a 16-minute walk from Fukai Station. It seems you can also get there by train, but it's quite a walk and a bit hard to find, so I drove there this day. It's located in a residential area, but they have parking available. Interior: A small shop with only a counter. However, it was incredibly crowded! I remember waiting in line for about 40 minutes. Order: Extra small Chikudama Bukkake Udon for 950 yen. Impression: As rumored, it was extremely generous in portion. The udon and tempura were both large and very satisfying. They offer sizes like extra small, regular, and large, but the extra small was more than enough to fill me up. The noodles were firm and chewy. The broth was on the rich side, but had a strong flavor of dashi and soy sauce. Very delicious! However, the portion size is really impressive, so it's a place you can only visit on an empty stomach. I would love to visit again when I go to Osaka with an empty stomach!

I ordered the Puchi Tenbukake (small, cold) at Zeniya Tenbukake. Originally, I was told that the regular portion is about 1kg with tempura noodles, so I changed it to the Puchi size. I opted for the small size with 350g of noodles as the smallest size seemed too little. The amount of tempura toppings was actually quite generous, and I ended up feeling quite full. If I have the chance to go back when I'm more hungry, I might try the regular Zeniya Tenbukake. The address is 2076-1 Totsucho, Naka-ku, Sakai City, Osaka. Phone number: 072-236-0021. Operating hours: 11:00-14:30. Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and holidays.

Next to the restaurant there was a parking lot, but the road to the parking lot was narrow so I parked at a nearby coin parking lot. I arrived around 12:10 on a weekday and there were about 4 groups waiting ahead of me, but luckily I was able to enter the restaurant in less than 20 minutes. I had heard that the portions were quite large, so I ordered the "Petit Manmaru Tenbukkake" in extra small size. My husband tried to order the "Zenya Tenbukkake" in small size but the staff advised him, "It's quite a large portion, about 1 kilogram, so I don't recommend it for first-timers." We ended up ordering the "Petit Tenbukkake" in extra small size. When the dishes arrived, we were surprised to see that both were in extra small size! The tempura batter was thick and even lifting up a large shiso leaf felt heavy. The noodles were chewy and smooth, very delicious. It was very tasty but... by the time we had eaten half, we were quite full and felt pressured not to leave any leftovers, so we ate the rest mindlessly. Next time, I will try ordering a simpler menu. They also sell hot pot broth for takeout, and the chicken hot pot broth looks delicious so I might buy it next time.

This udon restaurant is completely blended into a residential area. It may be difficult to find if you don't do any research beforehand, as it is located down a narrow alley. I arrived on a Saturday around 10:30 am and there was no line outside. I thought they might open at 11 am, but the staff came out early and let us in. Inside, there were already 6 people seated. They offer udon in three sizes: "small (200g)", "medium (350g)", and "large (500g)". The small size seemed like a good choice in terms of portion, but here, it's better to go a size down. The "Chicken and Egg Tempura Udon (small / 1,100 yen)" is a delicious udon with a chewy and firm texture. The thickness varies in some parts, which adds to the overall experience. The broth is rich and you can taste the dashi and soy sauce flavors. The generous amount of bonito flakes enhances the aroma as you eat. The condiments include grated radish, grated ginger, green onions, shredded seaweed, and bonito flakes. In addition to chicken and egg tempura, they also offer shiso leaf and seaweed tempura, making the meal very satisfying. The chicken tempura, in particular, is so big that it almost outweighs the udon itself. This is probably why they strongly discourage leaving any food uneaten. By the end of the meal, it didn't feel like I had just eaten 200g of udon. The price may seem high, but considering the quality, it's actually a great value. However, for those who prefer smaller portions, even the small size might be too much.

The portion size is large and cheap! The noodles were firm and very delicious, just the way I like them. I wanted to order a small size, but was recommended the extra small size, which turned out to be filling enough. I think even women would be satisfied with the extra small size.
