On this day, we decided to have a slightly luxurious lunch and visited the innovative restaurant "RiVi," which only offers table seats that we had been wanting to try for a while. We made a reservation for the course menu (6500 yen including tax) in advance, and when we arrived, we were impressed by the high quality of service and the artistic sense and skill in the Japanese-style dishes. While some dishes seemed ordinary, there were many that moved us, including one that was truly touching. Overall, the restaurant exceeded our expectations with its symphonic crossover atmosphere. This visit took place in late October 2021 afternoon. The course we had included 8 dishes, "Shukurekur" bread, 1 dessert, tea sweets, and coffee. We started with champagne (2420 yen) for a toast, and the first dish, "Dojo no Flan," was served, representing the original scenery of Japan's rice fields with duck consomme poured from a cast iron teapot. While the taste was ordinary, we appreciated the concept. The following dishes, such as Foie Gras Sablé and Curry Oyaki, had strong flavors, and the fourth dish, the Sabazushi, had a unique blend of Japanese and Western elements. The fifth dish, Lobster with Américaine Sauce and Steamed Sole, captivated us, and the main course, although the meat texture was a bit disappointing, was still enjoyable. The highlight was the seventh dish, "Salmon Takikomi Gohan topped with Ikura," which was truly impressive. A male service staff mixed the Takikomi Gohan with Ikura, creating a high-quality dish that felt like a gem. The male staff member who served us was also a sommelier, and he was smart and engaging in conversation. He mentioned that he had returned to Kansai from Tokyo and had worked in several restaurants before teaming up with the chef at "RiVi." The chef had experience in Italy and had honed his skills at a French restaurant in Osaka before opening "RiVi." Although we didn't see the chef during our meal, he greeted us with a smile when we left. We paired our meal with champagne (2420 yen) and half glasses of three different wines (4400 yen each). While some drinks seemed pricey and some dishes didn't quite hit the mark, the commendable dishes in the 6500 yen course menu, along with the warm service, left us feeling fulfilled and exceeded our expectations during this memorable visit in late October. Visiting a restaurant is not just about satisfying your taste buds but also experiencing a moment of art, filled with Japanese sentiment and creativity. I hope many people will visit "RiVi" and enjoy the unique dining experience it offers.
