Chicken cutlet with sweet vinegar sauce at Maruichi @ Sakaisuji Hommachi
Every time I passed by, I was curious about this place, so I decided to go in. Around 12:30, there were 4 groups of customers before me and 4 groups after me. The kitchen was run by a brother and the floor was managed by a sister. After a short wait, the dish arrived. I was wondering what "bukkake sauce" was, but it turned out to be a sweet vinegar sauce drizzled on top, and it was delicious. The large chicken breast cutlet went well with it. #Izakaya #ChickenCutlet #SweetVinegarSauce #Maruichi #SakaisujiHommachiLunch #SakaisujiHommachiGourmet

In a small alley, there is a pub where you can have lunch for 750 yen with a daily special menu. On this day, they had beef stamina stir-fry. After ordering, you wait at the counter. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it easy for even solo diners to come in. After about 10 minutes, the meal is ready with three small side dishes, which is nice. When I tried the beef, I found it a bit sweet, probably because they used quite a bit of sugar in the seasoning. However, it was quite filling and satisfying overall. The rice portion was generous, suitable for those with a big appetite. I ended up eating too much and felt quite full. It seemed popular for lunch, as the counter seats were packed with customers. In the evening, it looks like a reasonably priced pub, perfect for those looking to enjoy some fish dishes. If you're curious, why not stop by and check it out? Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at Kakurean Maruichi in Osaka, Sakaisuji-Honmachi. I had the daily special set meal for 750 yen, which was "Tender Chicken Cutlet with Japanese Cheese Sauce." The restaurant is a bit small, with the counter seats being quite close to each other. The chicken cutlet was tender but not very juicy, and the cheese sauce had more of a sweet vinegar taste than a cheesy one. Overall, it was okay. I wanted to try the "Tuna Steak Donburi" from the menu, but it was sold out by the time I arrived. In the end, I settled for the chicken cutlet. The restaurant is located at 1-6-19 Andocho, Chuo-ku, Osaka, and is open from 11:30 to 14:00 and 17:30 to 23:00, closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

I arrived at the watch restaurant for Friday lunch at 13:05. I ordered the daily special which was pork cutlet with egg sauce and fried chicken combo for ¥800. After 13:00, they include coffee with free refills of rice and soup. The meal arrived in 5 minutes and included 2 large pieces of fried chicken, half a pork cutlet, egg sauce, cold tofu, sweet potato simmered in syrup, pickled radish, and rice with soup. The portion was generous and the miso soup was delicious. The salad was fresh and the side dishes seemed homemade. The fried chicken was juicy and the pork cutlet was tasty in the katsu-don style. Moreover, after 13:00, they offer great service with complimentary coffee. I left the restaurant fully satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I've been trying out some new places lately, but it's been a while since I found a really good one! I had the "Combo Set Meal (daily special half portion & 2 pieces of chicken karaage)" here and it was delicious! You have to wait about 15-20 minutes after ordering, but when the meal arrived, it was a perfect balance with 2 side dishes, pickles, miso soup, and rice. You can also get free refills of rice and soup, which is a great service. The daily special stir-fried miso pork was flavorful and went well with the rice. The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. The tofu and salad helped refresh my palate after the rich flavors. The hot miso soup with delicious broth was also very tasty. And to top it off, if you come after 1 pm, you get a free coffee or tea! All this for only 800 yen, I was completely satisfied. I'll definitely be stopping by this hidden gem again when I'm in the area!

Sakaisuji Hommachi Station. Today's lunch was at "Kakurean Maruichi". It's a small izakaya. As a solo diner, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the daily special "Saikyo pork with seven-spice mayonnaise stir-fry". There are regular and light options, with the regular priced at 750 yen and the light at 650 yen. Since it was my first time at the restaurant, I went with the light option. When it was served, I realized that even the light portion was quite generous for me. The light option was the right choice. The lineup included cabbage, Saikyo pork with seven-spice mayonnaise stir-fry, miso soup, daikon radish, pickles, chilled tofu, and rice. All of this for 650 yen was very reasonable. The Saikyo pork paired well with the rice, and I was able to enjoy a hearty meal. In between bites, I had the chilled tofu and miso soup to balance it out. Even with the light option, I left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal. Summer 2019.

Review Stock - 11 more to go
I visited this place for lunch once before, but I don't even remember what I ate. Today, I passed by the restaurant around 12 o'clock and saw "Seafood Sashimi Bowl" written on the menu board. It was a hot day, so I was in the mood for something cold, and decided to go in. The place was almost full, but there was one seat available at the counter, so I sat down. I ordered the seafood sashimi bowl, but they were already sold out! Looking at the other options, there was a daily special of pork tempura with curry sauce, and it seemed like it would make me even hotter. There were also options like pork belly seared bowl and fried chicken. There was also a tuna steak bowl, but I was worried that the tuna might get dry if cooked. So, I decided to go with the safe choice of fried chicken. There was a 100 yen discount on almost all the menu items if you choose the "light" option. The food took about 10 minutes to arrive. The fried chicken was three large pieces, and it came with side dishes like meatballs, chilled tofu, miso soup, and pickles. The person next to me had the regular fried chicken, which came with five pieces. The "light" option was enough for me. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and it went well with the rice. The rice and miso soup were refillable. Overall, it was delicious and I think it was worth the 700 yen lunch price. However, it would be great if they could add more cold dishes to the menu for the upcoming season. Thank you for the meal!

At the year-end party set up by my juniors, we visited a restaurant this time. We had anglerfish hot pot! The restaurant had a cozy, hidden gem-like atmosphere and seemed to serve delicious food. After all, it was my first time eating anglerfish hot pot. It cost around 5000 yen per person with all-you-can-drink included. Full of expectations! First, we had some small dishes, sashimi, and then came the anglerfish tempura. The tempura had a nice crispy texture! And then, the main dish, anglerfish hot pot, arrived! It had a miso-based broth with big chunks of anglerfish in it. Just when we were waiting for it to cook, some scum started to appear. As we tried to skim it off, the owner shouted, "Wait a minute!" It turned out they had dissolved anglerfish liver into the soup, adding extra umami. Phew, that was close! The richness of the anglerfish liver enhanced the flavor. Anglerfish is really delicious! After finishing the hot pot, they brought out more anglerfish for a second round! Seriously! There's still more? The portion was huge! Lastly, we had some porridge to savor all the flavors. Wow, I was so full and completely satisfied! (*^◯^*)

Around 11:50, I visited the restaurant. I was the first customer, followed by a few others. The place was run by a man and a woman. I ordered the daily lunch special, which was a light meal for 650 yen. Today's main dish was pork loin tempura with sweet vinegar sauce. It arrived in about 3-4 minutes. The meal included a bowl of rice, pork loin tempura, cabbage salad, two pieces of imitation crab, cold tofu, miso soup, and pickles. The portion of rice was quite large. The taste was homely and somewhat bland. It was decent, nothing special. I finished the meal feeling full thanks to the generous portion of rice. Considering the portion size and price, I think it offers good value for money. They seemed to have a selection of around 10 types of Japanese sake and shochu, showing their commitment to quality.
