I went to buy a small snack to give to a friend. Since I had tea in the Shinjuku Sanchome area, I decided to stop by the not-so-frequently visited Isetan basement to buy something to take back (usually for this purpose, I tend to go to the Odakyu or Keio near the station). It's still hot and anything that might melt is a no-go. There was an area with snacks like rice crackers, and I thought I could choose something from around here. I was thinking that there aren't many boxed snacks for under 1000 yen, when I found "Saku Saku Nikki." The modern-looking box was cute. There were shrimp and scallop flavors, but since some people have allergies to shrimp, I thought scallop would be safer, right? I asked the staff at the register, and they mentioned that both the scallop and shrimp flavors contain both ingredients (conversely, the shrimp flavor also contains scallop). And this place is a shrimp senbei specialty shop, so all of them definitely contain shrimp. Oops, I ended up making it sound like I was being rude by saying that scallop would be better than shrimp at a shrimp senbei specialty shop. However, I couldn't back out and thought shrimp was delicious anyway, so since it's a shrimp senbei specialty shop, everyone must like shrimp, right? With a strange sense of acceptance (laughs), I ended up choosing this one. I also bought a single pack of the same product for tasting. By the way, the payment methods were cash or credit card only, which was a bit disappointing. And then, when I got home and looked it up again, I realized, "Oh, I know this!" I remembered that I had received this before. It seems that "Yukari" is the flagship product of shrimp senbei. It seems to be an over a century-old shop. Regaining my composure (?), I will enjoy it at home. There are 6 packs of the same product in the box, probably. Looking at the back, it's rare to have both the expiration date and the manufacturing date listed. As it says, "Freshly fried pack," it hasn't even been a week since it was made! In this type of shop, this is quite rare, right (even though the box version was made earlier than the single pack version, it was still this month)? When I opened it, there were thin, bite-sized senbei. They were quite crispy. And delicious! It's perfect for a snack. I feel like I want to eat more, but this amount might be just right... It was a completely different deliciousness from the shrimp senbei you find elsewhere. Although it's a bit expensive, being able to buy and eat it for a two-digit price (excluding tax) is also nice. In the end, I thought it would be nice to receive this as a gift (this is the opinion of someone who loves shrimp, haha), so I hope they will be happy. There wasn't much of an Isetan-like atmosphere, but the Isetan basement was fun after a long time♪

On Saturday, March 2nd, around 5:00 PM, I went to the basement of Isetan Shinjuku to visit "Pierre Herme Paris Isetan Shinjuku" and bought macarons and cakes. Since tomorrow is Hinamatsuri, I decided to buy hina-arare as well and wandered around. While protecting the cakes and navigating through the crowd, I arrived at a corner where they were selling snacks like okaki. Ah, I found the "Sakakado Sohonpo" store with their "Yukari"! It's been a while. The staff gave me a sample to try. Mmm, it's delicious as always. But it's not hina-arare, is it? Right next to it was the "Sakusaku Nikki Hinamatsuri Package" sitting there. It's a limited edition package on sale from February 14th to March 4th. I had to buy it immediately. After purchasing it for 648 yen (tax included), I headed to the restaurant "Shinjuku Private Italian Meat & Cheese Ark Shinjuku Higashiguchi Ekimae Store" for a meal. The next day, on March 3rd for lunch, I enjoyed the Sakusaku Nikki: 3 bags of shrimp and 3 bags of scallops, totaling 6 bags. Each bag contained several small pieces of fried senbei. Although it's not Yukari, the shrimp flavor was just like Yukari. The scallop flavor also had a hint of seaweed, making it delicious. I could eat them endlessly. It was a delightful meal.

When I returned to my parents' house, I found this product. I love Ebisenbei from Sakaado Sogo Honpo, so I opened the bag right away. Inside were eight small rice crackers. They were Princess Yucari, Nori, Sakura Shrimp with Nori, Small Shrimp, Black Sesame, Matcha, Purple Sweet Potato, and Black Bean. Here is the product description: Princess Yucari (a one-bite size with a rich flavor using plenty of shrimp paste) Nori (traditional shrimp crackers with a distinctive flavor using black seaweed from Ise Bay) Sakura Shrimp with Nori (Shredded green seaweed from Seto Inland Sea mixed with Suruga's Sakura shrimp on top) Small Shrimp (enhancing the flavor with Okinawa's grilled salt, creating a crispy whole shrimp) Black Sesame (abundant fragrant black sesame bursting with a unique flavor) Matcha (the elegant sweetness of Aichi's Nishio matcha blends beautifully with the aroma) Purple Sweet Potato (beautifully colored with purple sweet potato, offering natural sweetness and a soft texture) Black Bean (richly flavored black beans from Hokkaido, with a rustic and crispy taste) There were eight of them, but I mainly remember Princess Yucari and Small Shrimp being delicious. Princess Yucari is like a smaller version of regular Yucari, I guess? The taste is the same as Yucari. When it comes to Sakaado Sogo Honpo, this is it. No doubt about it. If I had to rate, I would give it around 3.0 stars. The packaging is beautiful, making it a good souvenir, but personally, I would be happier receiving a set of Yucari.

I bought this Yoraku as a souvenir, and Yukari, famous for its shrimp senbei, is a recommended product, right? I occasionally buy it to eat at home too. I decided to buy it for home use separately from the souvenir. There was a limited-time triangular product near the register, and I couldn't resist trying the sample ^^; So, I ended up buying it as well. Yoraku Hime Yukari, black sesame, seaweed, matcha, cherry shrimp, green seaweed, purple sweet potato, small shrimp, black soybeans - all in one bag. It's a happy package with eight delicious flavors. The triangular product is a limited-time item, and it was a sesame rice cracker. No matter when you eat it, it has a light salty taste that lingers. It's a rice cracker that can be enjoyed with tea or as a snack with beer. They sell it in boxes as well as simple bags or individually, making it easy to buy, which is also a plus. I like that it's affordable and easy to buy.

I went to Isetan Shinjuku and bought some shrimp senbei, which my child loves. They disappear quickly when my child gets their hands on them. While the shrimp scent is a bit strong for me, my child, who loves shrimp, really enjoys these senbei. Normally we only buy the famous Yukari flavor, but this time I bought a can of assorted shrimp senbei for around 3000 yen. Each one had an authentic taste. It's a bit (okay, very) luxurious snack.

I am not from Nagoya, but I received this as a gift before and I really liked it, so I often choose it as a souvenir for foreign visitors. Most people seem to enjoy it, even those who are not fond of shrimp. It offers 8 different flavors and aromas to enjoy in the Eight Delights set, along with the classic Yukari. When I eat it myself, I prefer the classic Yukari and the whole shrimp that has been crushed into a compact shape. This crispy and addictive taste is my personal treat, so I want to share it with others as a gift.
