The price is a bit high, but since we are in Yanagawa, please try it. This time, we just went into a shop near the parking lot. The food is definitely delicious, but compared to the delicious shops in Kurume and Chikugo, there is no significant difference in taste, yet the prices are set high. The eel was very delicious and piping hot.

After my first experience of cruising down the Yanagawa River, I decided to have seiro steamed for lunch. I was hesitating in front of the tourist information center as there were many eel restaurants around. A local lady noticed my confusion and recommended that while Takematsu-ya is good, she personally prefers Fuki. Without hesitation, I headed straight to Fuki. It had a cozy, homey atmosphere, and the owner was very friendly, which made me feel relaxed. I ordered the steamed seiro and found the taste to be light and easy to eat. According to the owner, this place is popular among locals, and I can see why - the taste is something that you won't get tired of.

The taste was delicious, but the atmosphere of the restaurant felt like visiting relatives in the countryside. A bit awkward. ^_^

I went with my wife and nephew. Wow, there were a lot of Hello Kitty decorations. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was calming, like a renovated old countryside grandma's house. We went there first thing in the morning and ordered the steamed eel. The taste was delicious. I heard that the restaurant has been around for 27 years, but there are some that have been around for 100 years, which surprised me. This place also offers delivery service, as there were bikes constantly going in and out. We were the only customers there, so we could eat slowly. The eel was categorized into regular, medium, and premium, so it was easy to understand the different options. Thank you for the meal!

We went to Fukuoka with my wife and mother-in-law for a 3-day weekend in November. After visiting Dazaifu the day before, we headed to Yanagawa on this day. We bought a ticket set at Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station for a round trip to Yanagawa and a river cruise. The river cruise was guided by a new boatman, and although his guidance was a bit clumsy, it was cute. After finishing the river cruise, we looked for a restaurant. The famous restaurant at the end of the river cruise had a long line, so we gave up quickly. There were discount coupons for two other restaurants included in the ticket set, but the restaurant recommended by the boatman also had a long line. We chose the other restaurant with the discount coupon. It was located a bit far from the town center, and the exterior looked somewhat worrisome. However, we found out that it was open when we looked closer. The interior of the restaurant was traditional Japanese style, with Disney characters everywhere. There were also what seemed to be autographs of celebrities, but they were all buried under Disney characters. We ordered the steamed eel set meal. When the steamed eel finally arrived after about 10 minutes, I didn't have high expectations because I'm not a fan of overly sweet flavors. The steamed eel had a dark, sweet sauce, and it came with liver and pickles. Surprisingly, it was delicious and I ended up finishing everything neatly. My wife and mother-in-law, however, found the rice too heavily flavored and got a bit tired of it towards the end. They left about half of the rice uneaten. In the end, we concluded that the eel bowl was still the better choice. As for this restaurant, the restroom was quite old, so especially for women, it might be better to use a restroom elsewhere.

Steamed eel in a steamer basket. I ordered the "top" option (2700 yen). While waiting, I admired the decorations in the restaurant for about 20 minutes. The steamed eel set meal arrived! It came with pickled liver and daikon radish. When I opened the lid, the stacked layers were full of eel. It was piping hot. The rice was soaked in sauce, with a sweet and rich flavor that was very appetizing. I enjoyed it with some sprinkled sansho pepper. The liver was also delicious. While other restaurants had long lines, this one was a bit hidden and I was able to get in quickly. The steamed eel remained hot and tasty until the last bite.

I went to Yanagawa after the rain for sightseeing and eel. This time, I also walked around, so I took the Shinkansen to get there. The access to Yanagawa was not as easy as I thought. There was no direct bus, so I had to walk for about 30 minutes from the Nishitetsu station through the countryside. It took longer to get from the Shinkansen station to Yanagawa than from Hakata Station to the Shinkansen station. It made me realize that a car would be more convenient for sightseeing in Kyushu. Now, onto the eel. It was incredibly delicious. I don't eat eel often, so I can't compare it to others, but it was really tasty. The eel in Yanagawa was similar to the one I had at a famous eel restaurant in Aichi. However, I felt like the eel in Yanagawa might not be domestically produced. In the end, if you're looking for an eel restaurant in Yanagawa, they are all of high quality. As a side note, due to the increase in eel consumption, prices have gone up, and there are concerns about the sustainability of eel populations. It's up to us to decide whether to enjoy it now or preserve this food culture for future generations.

I was in Fukuoka and wanted to try the eel in Yanagawa. I arrived around 2 pm, thinking it would be crowded due to the Yanagawa Hina Matsuri festival, but there was only one other group of customers who left soon after. I felt a bit lonely being the only one there. I ordered the special steamed eel (2500 yen) and it came out after about 15 minutes. The portion was quite big in a stacked container, but the bottom was raised. The first bite was hot and I almost burned my tongue. The taste was quite sweet, as mentioned in previous reviews. Children would probably love it. The decor in the restaurant was very flashy and would definitely put kids in a good mood. The eel was fluffy and the sauce soaked into every grain of rice, delicious! I thought I would be full with the amount of rice, about 3 cm deep. I also got to see the impressive Hina dolls on the second floor. Finally, I asked to leave my car in the parking lot and explored the area nearby. Apologies for the inconvenience. m(_ _)m

I visited a recommended local eel restaurant called "Fuki" in Yanagawa. The entrance of the restaurant was decorated with many "sagemon" decorations. The special steamed eel (2500 yen) was soft and tender, cooked in a steamer, with a gentle and slightly sweet flavor. Despite appearing to be a small portion, it was actually quite filling. I also tried the eel rice bowl (2100 yen), which unfortunately looks unappetizing in the blurry image. The rice was a bit problematic, but the overall taste was good. While waiting for the food, I was shown a display of Hina dolls on the second floor, which was impressive with a large hall filled with Hina dolls and sagemon decorations. It makes me wonder how many Hina dolls and sagemon decorations there are in Yanagawa as a whole. Looking forward to exploring more.

I live in Yanagawa, and Fukichi is one of the best eel restaurants in Yanagawa! The shop is a bit away from tourist spots and seems more suited for locals. It seems to be quite busy as they mainly focus on eel wholesaling. The shop doesn't have a fancy atmosphere, so unfamiliar tourists might not enter. But the eel is delicious! It's in the top 5 best eel restaurants in Yanagawa! (According to myself) Locals seem to buy for takeout or get delivery. Since the shop closes early, it's better to go in the early evening!

Located just west of the tourist spots in Yanagawa, with the Hakushu Memorial Hall as a landmark. The main business is eel wholesaling, so the taste of the eel is good. The service provided by the staff is standard. Since it is slightly off the tourist path, it is relatively less crowded. The atmosphere is like a local diner, nothing particularly noteworthy.

Many gifts arrive at everyone's homes in December, but things like detergent, cooking oil, and alcohol are not necessary. What poor people need to survive are food items. In the midst of that, a vacuum-packed set of 10 pieces of eel rice balls from Yufu, Fukuoka arrived. Even though the domestic eel pieces are small, they are still edible. The sight of two people holding hands and rejoicing cannot be shown to others. Do not heat them in the microwave, warm them slowly in a water bath and enjoy. The eel is not freshly grilled, but the taste of the sauce is indescribable. The rice, although white, has a sticky texture similar to glutinous rice, and its deliciousness spreads in the mouth together with the sauce. The eel may not be freshly grilled, but it is perfect for savoring the sauce. The moderate thickness of the sauce has an indescribable deliciousness. Since it was a gift, it would be rude to check the price, but when I looked it up online, it was a product worth 5,800 yen. I must think of a way to reciprocate. This is a given, after all, gifts should be food items. It's best to have something that can be stored.
