Now, for the second stop on the journey, we visited Torimaru, a place I have ordered takeout from several times before but never dined in. My companion loves fried chicken, so we used two tickets and ordered a draft beer. The order was taken and while we waited for the fried chicken and tapas that the other group had ordered, we requested our drinks to be served at the same time as the tapas. The wait was a bit long, I suppose. Finally, a variety of fried chicken (thigh, drumstick, skin) and a platter of edamame arrived! Oops, it seems similar to the first place we visited (^^;) The calorie intake for tonight seems to be quite high... Cheers with a Kirin Ichiban Shibori draft beer ♩ The fried chicken here is crispy even the skin, making it guilt-free to enjoy fried food. Especially the "skin" is lightly fried, so you could eat as much as you want (if you can forgive the calories). From October 29th to November 1st, and also tapas are available, so if you're interested, please give it a try! Thank you for the meal (June 2014). When I tried to order takeout, I found out that the business hours had changed, and they are now closed on Sundays. The new hours are from 5:00 pm to midnight (last order at 11:00 pm). Takeout is available from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Also, they sell chicken wings in sets of 3 now! As mentioned in a previous post (May 2014). The street in front of the restaurant is a place I often pass by on my way back from work, so I decided to check out Torimaru, which had opened recently in the location where Osanai used to be. I visited for lunch in April, but was told that the menu prices would change the next day... So, even though I usually don't post menu photos, I felt hesitant to review it (sweat). I had planned to order takeout next time... but time flew by. When I confirmed during my takeout visit, I was informed that they no longer offer lunch set menus... Well, it all worked out in the end! (You can order individual items for lunch and eat in the restaurant). This time, for takeout, I ordered 3 pieces of chicken wings with special sauce for 140 yen, breast meat for 580 yen, and a whole chicken leg for 280 yen, paid for them, and was told that the frying time would be about 6-7 minutes, so I left the store and went to the French Deli next door, and then returned to pick up my order. I received the hot and crispy chicken wings, and quickly went home to enjoy them with a cold beer... However, my companion unexpectedly arrived late, and we started eating an hour and a half later (-_-) The chicken wings were easy to eat because the wingtips were prepared in a way that made them easy to bite into. They had just the right amount of fat and flavor, making them even more delicious! If you tied a red ribbon around the bone part, it could be used for a child's birthday party (laughs). The chicken leg had a chewy texture with a juicy burst of fat, and the breast meat, despite its price, was quite generous in portion size. It was thinly sliced and coated in batter before being fried. Since it was breast meat, it was light and easy to eat. When I bit into the freshly fried chicken during lunch, the juice oozed out, so you have to be careful (laughs). The seasoning is not too strong, maybe because there are menu items like "Chiritori" (chicken wings with special chili sauce), but it has just the right amount of flavor to go well with beer. It's delicious even when it's cold, but when I had the freshly fried chicken during lunch, it was even more to my liking... So, next time, I'll make sure to be prepared and go buy it just before drinking beer. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with retro items from the Showa era that have been stylishly remodeled into tables and chairs, making it a nice place for solo female diners. They mentioned that they don't advertise in local magazines (at least for now?), but they were fine with being reviewed on Tabelog, so here's my review. Occasionally, I order takeout from a well-known local yakitori chain, and their fried chicken (with bones) has increased in price due to the consumption tax (and does it seem like there's less quantity now?), almost reaching 900 yen... Considering that, Torimaru's "thigh and breast meat" seems to be doing its best in terms of pricing. Torimaru seems to be a good place for takeout or dining in, offering a variety of chicken parts to enjoy! Thank you for the meal~
