I live in Fukuoka City, so I didn't know about this famous shop. The exterior was so intriguing that I had to stop by. It was around 3 PM and the showcase was empty, but when I asked, they said they had sweet potato and roasted sweet potato. The sweet potato was cold, smooth, and not too sweet. It was really delicious! I regret not buying more. I will definitely visit again!

Today, I crossed the Kanmon Strait on foot. I walked 40 minutes from Moji Port Station to the Kanmon Strait because the retro train only runs on weekends. The pedestrian walkway at the Kanmon Strait was surprisingly short (about 900m one way), but I was exhausted when I returned to Moji Port Station. They are chilled in the refrigerator. The texture is fluffy and irresistible. The sugar is not too sweet, and the sweetness and umami of sweet potatoes spread in your mouth, followed by a hint of honey sweetness. This is a delicious karintou!

Eimachi Imoya in Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City. Located outside Eimachi Gin-Ten-Gai, this shop specializes in sweet potatoes. They offer a wide variety of sweet potatoes, such as Kogane, Anno-imo, Silk Sweet, Beniharuka, Beniazuma, Naruto Kintoki, depending on the day's stock. They also sell processed sweet potato products like baked sweet potatoes, Sweet Potato Mont Blanc, Daigaku Imo, and Karinto. I purchased the Sweet Potato Mont Blanc (200 yen) this time. It was incredibly delicious, with a strong sweet potato flavor. It almost resembled sweet potato yokan. This shop is so specialized that it could easily become a specialty store just for their Sweet Potato Mont Blanc. A part of the "Restaurants I don't want to leave until next year 2021 - This year in Moji-ku" series. It's rare to find a shop so focused on one type of food. Definitely a place worth visiting again before the year ends.

About 30 years ago, the chef, who used to be a greengrocer, got stuck in the sweet potato swamp and opened a shop specializing in sweet potatoes called "Imo Densetsu", which has now become a famous restaurant in the Moji Port Retro District. I went to Moji Port (^o^) I like the calm atmosphere of Moji Port on weekdays! After eating a dorayaki in the shopping street, I stopped by here to buy sweet potato. The sweet potato was voluminous and not dry, slightly moist. It had a mild sweetness and a taste of sweet potato. This is a shop I always visit when I'm in this area! They were recently featured on a local TV show, and they had pictures from that show displayed in the shop♪( ´θ｀)

At Mojiko Port~(^з^)-☆ I wandered around the shopping street area and spotted the words "Imo Densetsu" (Sweet Potato Legend) ʕʘ‿ʘʔ so I had to stop by (laughs) The friendly and approachable owner (^ω^) offered a sample of sweet potato cookies when I made my purchase. The top tasted like sweet potato and the bottom had a firm sweet potato cookie dough texture. It was my first time trying sweet potato cookies and they were delicious ╰(*´︶`*)╯ I ordered 6 pieces of Sweet Potato cookies for 180 yen and a 400g bag of Silk Sweet for 400 yen! The Sweet Potato cookies had a natural sweetness and a dense sweet potato flavor with a hint of salt enhancing the sweetness. The Silk Sweet cookies were more traditional but still had a good level of sweetness. Although they didn't have the honey-like sweetness of Anno-imo, if you're looking for a fluffy texture, this is the type to go for (#^.^#) After bidding farewell to the friendly owner, I enjoyed my sweet potatoes with a canned coffee~(*´∀`)♪ It's a shop that makes you want to visit again☆

I visited the shop in the afternoon of May 3, 2017 (Wednesday). I was curious because I had seen it on TV before. It's a pretty old shop. There was a bus stop right in front, so it was a bit difficult to park the car, so I parked at a 100 yen parking lot. I bought sweet potato and daigakuimo. Both are delicious, but personally, I love the crispy and sweet taste of daigakuimo. Even after eating lunch, I can easily finish it. The sweet potato also has a gentle sweetness, and even children eat it happily and it disappears in no time. I am very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited "Sweet Potato" several times but couldn't find it, finally found it after having lunch at twin-t. Surprisingly, the elderly couple who were at twin-t were also shopping here. I bought two sweet potatoes for 180 yen each or 500 yen for three. They were smooth and not too sweet, allowing me to fully enjoy the taste of the sweet potato. I also got the classic sweet potato rice cracker for 200 yen, which was fluffy and delicious with the skin on.

After having lunch at Umezuki, I walked over here. I bought sweet potato and university potato (*^^*) The sweet potato from the potato shop is moist, sweet, and very delicious. The university potato is crispy on the outside, sweet, and also delicious ♪ The name of the shop is quite impactful though (^-^; Thank you for the meal (*^^*)

(August 2016) I couldn't help but be intrigued by the sweet potato... Last month, I walked the Kanmon pedestrian walkway to Moji Port. It was so hot! Inside the shop, the owner was serving customers. When I looked at the display shelves, there were no sweet potatoes, only sweet potato cakes? "Do you have sweet potatoes?" I asked. "My wife is unwell, so we can't make them right now..." I wondered if the heat had affected her health. So, I bought the sweet potato cakes instead (^_^) They were slightly firm on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were still delicious as always. I hope she gets better before my next visit. I'll look forward to the sweet potatoes then. (July 2016) After having lunch at Moji Waraku Kaikyo Plaza, I strolled through the shopping street. It was raining due to the rainy season, so I didn't feel like moving around much, but I stopped by this shop that I had bookmarked. It's a sweet potato specialty store with items like: - University Sweet Potato for 300 yen - Sweet Potato for 150 yen - Karinto (sweet deep-fried dough) for 200 yen They also sell Naruto sweet potatoes and Beni Azuma sweet potatoes. Since it's a takeout-only shop, I bought the University Sweet Potato and enjoyed it at home. It wasn't too sweet, allowing the natural sweetness of the sweet potato to shine through. The inside was fluffy and quite delicious. Next time, I might try the Karinto or the Sweet Potato.

Legend of the Taro. On my way back from attacking the wandering diary, I came across a shop that had caught my attention with its name, appearance, and the sweets it offered. Today, I decided to make a bold move and pay it a visit. The shop was filled with sweets made from taro, and there was a large sweet potato cooling on a hot plate on the counter. Without hesitation, I chose a pack of sweet potato for 300 yen. I asked if I could take a photo of the showcase, and they kindly agreed. Grateful for their permission. When I got home and opened the pack, I took a bite and was surprised. The outer layer of hardened syrup was crispy, while the inner sweet potato was soft, creating a unique and contrasting texture. I was taken aback by the unexpected taste. I underestimated the shop, and now I am curious about their other taro sweets like sweet potato. I regret not trying them all. Even though the owner doesn't like sweet things, they eat this sweet potato candy for some reason☆ The owner's mother used to love baked sweet potatoes and ate them often☆ But the owner hates baked sweet potatoes, it's strange, isn't it? When I bought it this time, I felt like it was a bit smaller, but maybe it's just my imagination☆ The surface of the candy is crispy, and the inside is soft and very delicious☆ It seems that girls like sweet potatoes because of their natural sweetness and soft texture☆ I like regular potatoes and taro too, but if it's for Japanese sweets, I'll choose sweet potatoes☆
