On this day, I casually stopped by "Imo Densetsu" in the Sakaemachi area of Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City.
Exterior and Interior:
This place is a sweet potato specialty store located outside the shopping street in Sakaemachi, Moji-ku. The exterior has a retro style, and when I saw the font of the store name, it reminded me of a different legend (from a manga) because of the sound.
Seating:
Takeout only.
Menu Composition:
At the storefront, there are sweet potato treats such as sweet potato cakes and daigakuimo, as well as the sale of sweet potatoes themselves. The items I ordered are as follows:
- Sweet Potato Cake (150 yen per piece): Price per piece. I had been tweeting "I want to go there" for a while. Of course, I don't use Twitter, though. This time, I thought it would be a waste to eat it alone, so I decided to take it out and share it with someone nearby. The sweet potato cake at this store is a classic sweet potato cake, but even more delicious. The balance of sweetness is good, and they seem to know how to bring out the best of the sweet potato, which is why they can make it. That's what I, a sweet potato novice, think. The smooth texture is also just right, and even if you're not a fan of sweetness, you should be fine with the natural sweetness of the sweet potato. Both adults and children will love this! Encountering a high-quality gem in an unexpected place... that's the joy of being a foodie (a bit exaggerated, haha).
Strong Points:
Delicious sweet potato cake.
Customer Service:
Average.
Overall:
It may be rare to find a shop like this nowadays. However, with this taste, it seems like it will continue to thrive in the future. It would also be appreciated as a gift. Maybe it's cooler to call it a "shop for sweet potato enthusiasts" rather than a "sweet potato specialty store". Thank you for the meal!
