While walking in Umeda Daimaru, I caught a whiff of a delicious scent and couldn't resist getting in line. Even though I wasn't particularly hungry, I felt a bit guilty so I only bought one. It was my first time trying it, so I went with the regular grilling style. They served it hot with plenty of sauce. Unlike in Kanto, the sweetness was more refreshing. The chewy texture was also different. It was incredibly delicious. I regret only buying one. If I come back to Osaka, I'll definitely want to eat it again.

I went to the main store of Kihasu Sohonten in Juso, Umeda Daimaru, 30 minutes before closing. I thought they might be sold out, but there were still about 5 people in line, so I lined up behind them. They make the orders fresh on the spot after receiving them! In the main store, you can choose from three levels of doneness: lightly toasted, normal, and well-done, but at the Umeda Daimaru store, they offer less toasted, normal, or well-done options. Today, I had the grilled Mitarashi from Rofuan for a snack, so I decided to compare it with Kihasu Sohonten's. I ordered one normal Mitarashi and two well-done Mitarashi, which cost a total of 324 yen. The dumplings were warm to the touch through the bag, which was delightful. I was worried after reading a review that said Kansai-style Mitarashi dumplings might not suit people from Kanto, but both Rofuan and Kihasu Sohonten's dumplings were delicious and suited my taste. Perhaps it's because my mother is from western Japan, making me a hybrid of eastern and western Japan. I prefer black honey over vinegar and spicy mustard for my agar jelly as well. Thank you for the meal!

The other day, I visited the Kihachisouhonpo Umeda Daimaru store at Osaka Station. When it comes to mitarashi dango, it's Kihachisouhonpo. You can choose the level of char on the dango at the main store. I prefer mine normal. The ample sweet sauce coating is the best part, right?

It's always a long line. Especially on weekends. Because of that, I haven't had the chance to buy anything. Even on weekdays, there's a line, but it finally died down around 2:30 PM, so I made my first purchase. One piece costs 108 yen. You can buy just one piece. I eat them all by myself, but for some reason, I decided to buy three pieces this time. I've been eating only Y****ki's mitarashi dango from convenience stores lately, so the natural sweetness and old-fashioned taste of Hachisuzu felt nostalgic, and I wanted to eat it again. When I have some extra time, I'll visit again.

The grilled mitarashi dango can be chosen in terms of how well-done they are, and the texture of the dango is just right, making them delicious. They are small in size and easy to eat. Since they do not contain any preservatives, they must be eaten on the same day, but whenever I go to Osaka, I always buy them. In addition to the mitarashi dango, there were other delicious looking Japanese sweets, so next time I would like to try something different as well.

On the basement floor of Daimaru Umeda store, there is a small shop located on the east side corner right as you enter. It's easy to overlook, but I decided to order a 10-piece set of their regular baked goods without hesitation. Despite the small space, they bake them on the spot, and I witnessed their famous quick packaging. Indeed, freshly baked is the best. I stored them in the refrigerator and reheated them later, but the texture had slightly changed. Thank you for the meal. #HungryBellies

I am a fan of Kihachiro's Mitarashi dango with a crispy texture. The level of grilling ranges from normal, crispy, to very crispy. I wonder if they are grilled lightly? I love the crispy and fragrant flavor. The staff always tell me that it will become hard the next day, but I still prefer it crispy (sorry). Of course, all of them are delicious. I will enjoy them today!

I went shopping at Kihachizushi in the basement of Umeda Daimaru. I stopped by after training in Honmachi on a weekday. There's always a line all the way down the stairs, right? ● Hanabotamochi 3 pieces: 570 yen (tax included) I've eaten it a few times since my wife bought it for me before, and it's really delicious. The sweetness is mild, the red bean paste is gentle, and the rice cake inside is fluffy... It's really addictive. Actually, I visited on the 27th and 28th, but it was sold out, so it's my third attempt. ● Sake manju 6 pieces: 648 yen I've eaten this before and remembered its simple deliciousness. Unlike the sake manju I always buy at Nishinomiya Ebisu, this one is bigger. You can't taste the sake flavor, so it's okay for people who don't like alcohol. The smooth red bean paste inside and the thick but soft skin make it easy to eat. ● Mitarashi 5 pieces: 540 yen This is Kihachizushi's signature dish. As always, it's full of red bean paste and very delicious. I ate it in no time. 2023.6.29

When you order, they bake 5 mitarashi dango right there and wrap them up with plenty of sauce. The efficiency from baking to wrapping is so impressive that you can't help but say "Wow!" multiple times. You can even specify how crispy you want them. If you plan to eat them right away, go for extra crispy. If you're going to eat them later, go for regular crispy. They say too much crispiness can make them bitter when they cool down. They wrap the dango in packaging paper and tie a red ribbon around it super fast, like they're used to doing it for boxes of 10 or more. The box is different too, so next time I'll get 10. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I was at Daimaru Umeda Department Store. I passed by the shop of Kihachisuzu Honpo and felt like eating mitarashi dango, so I decided to buy some. This time, I got the standard pack of 5 mitarashi dango. I asked for them to be slightly burnt. I paid with a 10% discount using the Daimaru Matsuzakaya shareholder benefit card, and then used a department store gift card, so it was a good deal. I ate them right away while they were still warm. The sweetness and the burnt parts combined perfectly, as always these mitarashi dango are very delicious. Personally, they rank quite high for me among all the mitarashi dango I've had. Whenever I come to Daimaru Umeda Department Store, I always buy and eat them immediately.

Before helping my daughter and her husband with their work, I had a meal with friends in Fukushima-ku, Osaka. I received a souvenir from a famous traditional Japanese sweets shop in Osaka called "Mitarashi-dango". The main store is located in Juso, Osaka, and I have been familiar with their signboard since I was a child. You can enjoy freshly made "Mitarashi-dango" at the main store. Despite being such a famous treat, when I brought it to my daughter and her husband's workplace, most of the people there, who are from Kyoto, had never heard of it. Surprisingly, they found it delicious. The "Mitarashi-dango" from this shop is not the typical round shape, but rather a small barrel shape, with a generous amount of sweet and savory sauce. We enjoyed it like a picnic in the nice weather, and everyone, including the children, found it delicious. It was the first time for them to try it, and they all enjoyed it.

I have lived in a world where I often enjoy Mitarashi dango from Sumiyoshi Dango or Kamomitarashi Chaya, and sometimes take a break at Amatou Maedani. Recently, I have noticed the rising popularity of Nohouan. During a conversation about Mitarashi dango, I heard about a colleague's favorite Mitarashi dango and decided to try it since I had never had it before. I was surprised to see a space in the store where they grill the dango, and you can even request the level of char on it. Despite the careful attention, they quickly grilled and packed the dango, efficiently handling the long line of customers. The cylindrical dango was unique and had a thick, flavorful sauce coating it. After warming it up slightly in the microwave, I enjoyed the crispy charred flavor, the chewy texture of the dango, and the rich taste of the sweet sauce with a hint of soy sauce and dashi. It's no wonder it's so popular, and my family has also become fans of it.

The most delicious mitarashi dango with a relaxed flavor, the favorite of the hermit. I haven't eaten a better mitarashi dango than here. I really love it. Kiyasu Sohonten Umeda Daimaru store is the best in the world. Thank you for the meal. Namaste.

I visited the shop in time for breakfast. There were about 5 people in line, but I was able to make a purchase in about 10 minutes. They asked about how cooked I wanted it, then grilled it on the spot, coated it in sauce, and put it in a box. The dumplings were a bit small, so I ended up eating them quickly! They were best when eaten warm! Even when they cooled down, they were still delicious if you waited a bit before eating them!

My son had a reason to go to Osaka, so I asked him to buy some souvenirs for me. He lined up and bought them for me. When he came home, my wife said they looked like tteokbokki. Indeed, most snacks from the Tokai region are round. They were cold, but I decided to eat one without heating it up. Oh, it's delicious. The spiciness and sweetness of the soy sauce combine very well, making it very tasty. It's sweeter than the mitarashi we have here. Surprisingly good. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up eating another one. I'll heat them up tomorrow. Thank you, son. Next time, I'll ask for some shumai. (^^)

Continuation of the memo (lol) The most delicious mitarashi dango in Japan - Kihasu at Daimaru Umeda Store in Osaka Juusan! There is always a line wrapping around the store, but with the efficient staff, I was able to purchase in just over 10 minutes! You can choose the level of char on the dango, but I went with the normal one. It comes in a pack of 5! When you take a bite, it's soft with just the right amount of saltiness. In Kanto, mitarashi an is usually quite thick, but here it's a bit lighter. Maybe it's the Kansai style seasoning? So, I feel like I could eat as many as I want. In fact, I saw another customer buying 3 boxes of 10 dango each, and another buying 4 boxes! It might actually be the most delicious in Japan. Some people may have their preferences, but I love it. #mitarashidango #kihasu #osakadaimaruumedastore #osakagourmet #osakasweets #osakawagashi

There is a Japanese sweets shop in Daimaru in Umeda. Their mitarashi dango is famous. For some reason, there are a lot of mitarashi dango in Osaka. At this shop, you can order the level of char on the dango, and they will grill it right in front of you. I wanted to eat it fresh off the grill, but got it to go instead. The dango is shaped like a bag and quite filling. Thank you for the meal.

I had some errands to run at Daimaru Umeda, so I visited this place to buy souvenirs for my family. I thought I had to go to Juso to buy them, but I recently saw on TV that they are also available at Daimaru, so I went there right away. It was 7:30 PM on a Monday, so perhaps that's why the line was short, only about 7-8 people. I waited for about 2-3 minutes and then it was my turn. They asked me how I wanted the dumplings cooked, and I chose medium. I had heard a tip from a friend beforehand, so I asked for extra sauce on my 10 pieces of Mitarashi dango. It cost 1,080 yen. The dumplings were quickly cooked and elegantly wrapped before being served to me. I took them back to Kobe and they were still warm. They were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The mitarashi dango from the famous Kihachisui in Osaka is very popular. Located inside the Daimaru in Umeda, it was worth waiting in line for about 45 minutes to purchase. When I opened the box back at the hotel, the sauce was overflowing. As a big fan of mitarashi dango, I couldn't resist... The shape of each dango was not the usual round shape, but rather flat. The perfect balance of the slightly burnt dango and sweet sauce made it incredibly delicious.

I wanted to eat Mitarashi dango for the first time in a long time, so I requested just one on the spot. It is a popular Osaka specialty that is loved by locals for being cheap and delicious. Each one is large in size and a great value! One is enough to fill you up! Thank you for the meal.
