The pork trotters and noodles with a strong Taiwanese influence were wonderful. The dumplings were all chewy and delicious. The waitress was busy managing the whole place alone. Drinks arrived quickly. I think I'll be back soon. Ate and drank to my heart's content for around 3000 yen per person.

I felt like eating dumplings, so I visited this restaurant for lunch on a holiday. Normally, they are closed on Mondays, but when I called, they were open. I ordered the famous boiled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, daikon mochi, and non-spicy Taiwanese ramen that I was looking forward to. Both types of dumplings were delicious and highly recommended. The Taiwanese ramen had a light soup which was not the best, but I think that's how it is supposed to be. The daikon mochi was chewy and tasty. I would like to come back at night next time and enjoy some beer while savoring the food at this restaurant. I forgot to take a photo, so I only have a picture of the daikon mochi.

It's been a while since I visited, I lived in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for about 2 years, but since returning to Japan, I come here when I miss the taste of Taiwan. When I come to this restaurant, it feels like I'm entering a typical eatery in Taiwan and eating classic dishes. Everything I eat here is delicious, reasonably priced, and truly reminiscent of Taiwanese cuisine.

We shared and enjoyed various dishes such as stir-fried pea shoots, chive dumplings, shrimp dumplings, boiled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, lu rou fan, Taiwanese ramen, Taiwanese kimchi, Taiwanese bamboo shoots, etc. The staff informed us in advance, but the Taiwanese cola was really impressive. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The taste is just like being in Taiwan. The atmosphere feels like you're in Taiwan. The dishes may look messy, but the taste is authentic. The dumplings, whether fried or boiled, are delicious, with different fillings that keep it interesting. A Taiwanese friend recommended the beef noodles, and they were really delicious. The meat was very tender and the portion was quite generous. I might come back for more.

A Taiwanese restaurant at the intersection in Higashi-Temma. The prices are cheap, but the service is polite. The menu is not extensive, but you can easily taste the flavors of the Taiwanese market. I had Taiwanese beer after a long time. The dumplings don't have garlic in them, and you dip them in garlic soy sauce. It's a friendly option for those working tomorrow or for women. They serve Shaoxing wine chilled, warm, or at room temperature, but it was a shame there was no lemon slice. Overall, it's a place where you can enjoy international flavors at a reasonable price. Thank you for the meal.

This restaurant is located north of Temmabashi. I remember it used to be on the second floor, but now it's on the first floor. They also serve lunch, and there are various lunch menu options available. As a fan of Taiwan, I wanted to try everything on the menu. I ordered the hot and sour noodles with minced pork rice set, and added a side of stir-fried water spinach. It's great that you can also order individual dishes. The atmosphere of the restaurant, with its tables and chairs, reminds me of a Taiwanese street stall. The staff are friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. When the food arrived, the hot and sour noodles had just the right amount of acidity and were filling. The minced pork rice had a nice meaty texture and aroma of five-spice powder, perfect for lunch. The stir-fried water spinach was crunchy and delicious. Even though I can't travel to Taiwan right now, I'm happy to have a place nearby where I can feel the Taiwanese vibes. Thank you for the meal.

I completed my second dose of the COVID vaccine at the Self-Defense Forces large-scale vaccination center at the Osaka Prefectural International Conference Center (Grand Cube Osaka) on July 2, 2021~♪ After my first dose, I experienced some pain and heaviness in my arm right after the vaccination, but this time, I heard that fever and fatigue symptoms are common after the second dose. So, I had some "morning udon" before heading home immediately after the vaccination, without stopping at the supermarket for dinner shopping, and spent the evening quietly at home. I took preventive measures by taking some fever-reducing medication, but this time, I feel great with no pain at the injection site. To celebrate, I decided to have dinner out for the first time in a while and went to "Taiwan Dongke Dumpling Hall" located just a 2-minute walk away at the Higashi-Temmabashi intersection. The restaurant used to be on the 2nd floor of a building, but it seems they renovated during the pandemic closure, and now the place looks lively with a karaoke box on the 1st floor as well. We sat at a 4-person table and ordered the following: ◆ Drinks Taiwan Beer 715 yen Taiwan Beer Lychee (for friends) ◆ Appetizers to share Century Egg Tofu 418 yen Tomato and Egg Stir-fry 418 yen Water Spinach 880 yen 5-piece Steamed Dumplings 418 yen Parsley Dumplings 638 yen Shrimp Steamed Dumplings 638 yen Pig Trotters 418 yen Pork Intestines 418 yen Chicken Breast Fillet 935 yen Fried Rice (Taiwanese style) 638 yen Beef Noodles (New Ramen) 935 yen I heard that it's not good to drink alcohol right after vaccination, so initially, I tried to stick to water only. But seeing my friends enjoying their beers, I couldn't resist and ended up ordering another Taiwan Beer for myself. Cheers! Taiwanese cuisine offers a variety of affordable small dishes, which I love. We started with Century Egg Tofu and Tomato and Egg Stir-fry, paired with Taiwan Beer. The Water Spinach was crunchy with lots of garlic, which felt invigorating. The dumplings - Water Dumplings, Parsley Dumplings, and Shrimp Steamed Dumplings - were all delicious and we shared them among us after a long time. We replenished collagen with Pig Trotters and Pork Intestines, and for the main dish, we had only one Chicken Breast Fillet. The Chicken Breast Fillet is a popular Taiwanese street food, a jumbo fried chicken fillet that is crispy and flavorful. For dessert, we had Fried Rice and Beef Noodles. Fried Rice is like Japanese steamed rice with plenty of fried pork, sweet and savory. The Beef Noodles had tender beef tendons cooked with a unique star anise aroma, spicy and flavorful, and the flat noodles were smooth and chewy. The kitchen is on the 2nd floor, and the dishes are delivered to the 1st floor by a lift. The young female staff served us efficiently, and we managed to finish all the dishes in just an hour. The bill was rounded down to exactly 3000 yen per person. It was a satisfying dinner with a wide variety of dishes. Back home, I lounged on the sofa with my dog, watching TV and relaxing after the post-vaccination night. Bon appétit! (●^o^●)

In July 2021, I visited the newly renovated "Taiwan Dokkan Gyoza-kan" in my neighborhood. The restaurant has expanded its seating by combining the previously closed karaoke box area on the first floor with the existing second floor. They also offer takeout service. I arrived at 6:30 pm and sat at a table. The restaurant had a pleasant Taiwanese aroma. I started with a toast with Taiwan lychee beer. I shared the following dishes with a friend: Century Egg Tofu, Tomato and Egg Stir-Fry, Water Spinach, Steamed Dumplings, Cilantro Dumplings, Shrimp Dumplings, Pig's Feet, Pig's Intestines, Chicken Cutlet, Taiwanese-style Sticky Rice, and Beef Noodles. Everything was delicious, but my favorites were the Century Egg Tofu, Water Spinach, Shrimp Dumplings, and Chicken Cutlet. The service was polite, and the atmosphere was nice. I will definitely visit again soon. Thank you for the meal!

I've been curious about this series for a while. A restaurant where you can enjoy Taiwanese home cooking at the intersection of Osaka Higashi-Tenma✨ It's a very popular shop in Taipei where you must line up. The owner is friendly, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is cozy and bright☺️. I ordered some menu items that caught my eye. ■空芯菜 Crispy and delicious! ■Taiwanese simmered dish ~ Lu Wei Yakuza Plenty of soy sauce-based soup with plenty of ingredients such as vegetables, dried tofu, pig intestines, pig ears, pig feet, chicken meat, etc. It was so fulfilling with all the meat in it. ■Pan-fried dumplings Chewy skin with juicy and fragrant filling, delicious dumplings. ■Taiwanese Xiao Long Bao Not overflowing with meat juice, but it was delicious and piping hot. ■Beef Noodle Soup Tender and melty beef tendon in ramen. It was not spicy as indicated on the menu, but it was quite flavorful with star anise and light in taste. ■Lu Rou Fan Sweet and savory pork with rice, a great combination. The addition of egg was also good. It was a delicious Lu Rou Fan. Ordered too much and my stomach was about to burst. It was a night where I learned the depth of Taiwanese home cooking. Thank you for the meal✨

Located a 10-minute walk east from Minami-morimachi Station on the Osaka Metro or Osaka Tenmangu Station on the JR Tozai Line along National Route 1, on the southwest corner of the intersection with Tanimachi-suji, you will find a famous Taiwanese restaurant called "Dong Kyaku Gyoza-kan." The first floor used to be a karaoke bar, but it closed due to COVID-19. The restaurant has expanded since then, but it is always crowded. Despite the name "Gyoza-kan" (dumpling house), they offer more than just dumplings, including beef noodles, Taiwanese ramen, and various snacks commonly found in night markets. The menu is diverse, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Taiwanese cuisine is known to be suitable for Japanese palates, with a relatively light, simple, and delicate flavor profile. Influenced by Fujian cuisine and abundant local ingredients, Taiwanese cuisine has developed its own unique style. It tends to be less oily compared to other Chinese cuisines, with a subtle saltiness that is healthier but may not be satisfying for those accustomed to miso soup or ramen. Taiwanese cuisine also incorporates influences from Hakka cuisine and Japanese cuisine, using soy sauce, bonito flakes, shiitake mushrooms, dried seafood, and salted ingredients. Strongly aromatic herbs and spices such as shallots, garlic, Taiwanese basil, star anise, and coriander are commonly used. Taiwanese people have a deep connection to their food culture, utilizing fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and even offal and blood in their dishes. While pork is the primary meat, beef dishes like beef noodles have become popular post-World War II, influenced by mainland China. Traditional Taiwanese banquet dishes often feature expensive ingredients like shark fin and swallow's nest, reflecting the importance of food as medicine. Taiwanese cuisine is characterized by home-cooked dishes that are simple, rustic, and modest in portion size, often served with a variety of side dishes. Street food culture, such as night markets with a wide range of snacks, plays a significant role in Taiwan's culinary scene. It's a delight to experience this in Osaka. Check out the video of the dishes we tried at Dong Kyaku Gyoza-kan in Higashi-Tenma: https://youtu.be/ujdAFSL_QYU

This is the second restaurant in Minamisonocho. The first restaurant was a bistro. On the way to the first restaurant, I saw a specialty shop for Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and thought about going there, but it was closed. I checked on Tabelog and saw that it was still early, but they were already sold out. So, I decided to try a Taiwanese restaurant nearby called "Taiwan Douke Gyozakan". When I entered, I noticed that most of the customers were Taiwanese. Even though they could speak Japanese, it was interesting to see. Since I had already eaten at the first restaurant, I ordered some lighter dishes. I ordered Xiao Long Bao (3 pieces for 380 yen), Kong Xin Cai (800 yen), Cilantro (380 yen), Taiwanese Chijimi (800 yen), and Teppan Gyoza (500 yen). I also ordered a Taiwanese beer. The Xiao Long Bao was really delicious, worth having 2-3 servings after the first restaurant! The Kong Xin Cai and Gyoza were also good. I used a Tontaku coupon from Tabelog to get a 380 yen menu item for free, so I ordered the simmered pork intestines. It was a great dish to go with drinks. The customers that day, except for one group, were all Taiwanese. They spoke Japanese, but the owner's wife seemed to be Japanese. She also runs a tapioca shop. The owner mentioned that his father used to have a Taiwanese restaurant with the same name in Taiwan. This restaurant has been open for about 3 years. They also hold events like exchange meetings with Taiwanese people once a month. The owner is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, the food is affordable and delicious. I think this place will continue to be popular. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity. The total bill for 4 people was 6,900 yen. We were very satisfied with the experience.

I visited the Tong Kee Dumpling Restaurant in Taiwan. It seems to be a famous restaurant in Taipei. I went for lunch, and since it was a weekend, I ordered items a la carte. They offer lunch sets on weekdays. - Stir-fried water spinach: Lightly seasoned with salt, but the garlic flavor was nice and it was delicious. - Fried rice: A gentle taste, fluffy and delicious. - Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings): A serving of 3, juicy and delicious. - Non-spicy Taiwanese ramen: The image of Taiwanese ramen is usually spicy, but this one was not spicy as indicated on the menu. It had meat on top of the Lu Rou Fan (minced pork rice) and was delicious. Everything I tried was delicious, and the prices felt reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for the meal. (Visit review rating 3.42, 24 reviews)

I visited this restaurant for Taiwanese cuisine on my food journey in Osaka. It is located near Osaka Tenmangu Station, on the second floor of a building at a crossroads. The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming, with the staff speaking Chinese and Taiwanese shows playing on the TV, adding to the foreign feel. I ordered the oyster omelette, xiaolongbao, and minced pork rice. The oyster omelette was surprisingly filled with lots of vegetables and rice cakes, and the sweet sauce was a pleasant surprise. It was a fun and new taste experience for me! The minced pork rice had a familiar yet unique flavor with a hint of star anise. It was delicious. I also tried the Taiwanese pineapple and mango beer, which was sweet, cocktail-like, and light - I really enjoyed it. Overall, the prices were reasonable, and I had a great time enjoying the food.

I visited a Taiwanese restaurant at the intersection of Higashi-Temma, a place I had wanted to visit for some years. I made a reservation in advance for a course priced at 3500 yen. The course included 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink, and dishes such as simmered assortment, hollow vegetable stir-fry, dried radish omelet, chef's choice of three dishes, Taiwanese-style chicken breast tempura, water dumplings, Taiwanese-style xiaolongbao, and the famous fried rice. Among these, the most delicious were the Taiwanese sausage, hollow vegetable similar to tteokbokki, xiaolongbao, dumplings, and fried rice. The simmered assortment had a strong star anise flavor with a sweet marinated taste that paired excellently with beer. The dried radish omelet was a bit salty and did not match well, but everything else was delicious. The drink menu included a 10-year-old Shaoxing wine and various other options that I ended up ordering in addition to the all-you-can-drink option. Even with the additional drinks, it cost around a little over 4000 yen per person. I think it's a good restaurant that is both affordable and delicious.

Near the intersection of Higashi-Temmabashi, there is a restaurant called "Taiwan Dokyaku Gyoza-kan" where you can enjoy authentic Taiwanese cuisine. I visited for lunch on a holiday. First, I had a Akahoshi beer and century egg tofu. The bitter taste of the beer was delicious, and the century egg tofu was packed with tofu and the century egg was not cut into pieces... Bold dishes, but tasty beyond expectations. Since I was already full, I gave up on the dumplings and ordered the "Taiwanese Mian Xian" noodles. It looked like noodles, but it wasn't listed in the menu under noodles... When I asked the staff, a Taiwanese person showed me a photo of the actual dish and the cooked version, so I ordered it. It's a type of noodle dish, but it's been simmered, so it focuses more on the flavor absorbed by the noodles rather than the chewiness of the noodles. It had a thick texture and was delicious. It was my first time trying it, and I think I'm hooked. I like eating noodles with a chewy texture, but sometimes it's nice to have noodles with a gentle chewiness and lots of flavor. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will visit again!

Osaka, Higashi-Temmabashi, deliciously eat at "Taiwan Onkyo Gyoza-kan". This is a story from before I was hospitalized and had surgery. It was a time when I had a casual drinking and eating party with old friends. Once or twice a year, old colleagues from work gather for a drinking party. Recently, since I am in charge of organizing, I wanted to find a unique restaurant. In that mood, I searched the internet and found this restaurant. It seemed a bit quirky. It had the vibe of a street corner eatery that I like. It looked cheap and delicious. The reviews on sites like Tabelog were also good. I decided to make a reservation. When I called, they spoke Chinese right from the start, saying they didn't understand Japanese. I was a little flustered, but managed to make a reservation in broken Chinese. Is it going to be okay? I was filled with anxiety, but at the same time, the local atmosphere was so strong that my expectations soared. Later, there were some changes in the number of people, so I decided to contact them via Facebook just to be sure. I was able to communicate with the owner in Japanese without any problems. (I wonder if it was the owner's father who answered at that time?) They even sent me menu photos in advance, so everything was well prepared. On the day, it was unfortunately raining heavily, so I needed an umbrella even from JR Osaka Tenmangu Station. I walked east for a while and found the restaurant on the southwest corner of the Karahori intersection. I climbed to the second floor. It was not very spacious, but had a very cozy feel, like a street corner eatery, which I love. Anyway, let's start with a toast. First, I had an egg omelette with dried radish. It's my favorite dish. It was very delicious. This is the taste of Taiwan. Then, I had lamb. It was very tender and delicious, with a sweet and spicy Taiwanese flavor. Next was water spinach, a common dish in Asia and Taiwan. Steamed dumplings and pan-fried dumplings. Since the restaurant's name is Gyoza-kan, they had to be delicious. They were so delicious that everyone asked for seconds. This was a bit unusual. Oyster and tofu in a sweet and savory sauce. A Hakka-style local dish maybe? It was a bit different, but very delicious. And then, xiaolongbao. A consistent taste. I got bored with just beer, so I had some whiskey. It was a single malt from Taiwan called "KAVALAN", which had won some awards. It was so delicious that I had it straight. And for the food, I had crispy fried chicken. Just as the name suggests, it was crispy, spicy, and the meat was tender and very delicious. I also had some Shaoxing wine. It was also very delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the food was delicious, and the prices were surprisingly cheap. The worry that Japanese would not be understood did not happen, communication was excellent, and it was a very good restaurant. Next time, I'll come alone to eat. Thank you for the meal. About a 5-minute walk from Osaka Tenmangu Station, this shop is located on the corner of the Higashi-Tenma intersection. I went there because I heard they serve Taiwanese ramen. During lunchtime, the set menu was a better deal than ordering individual items, so I ordered the set with Lu Rou Fan (minced pork rice). The menu stated that the Taiwanese ramen was not spicy, but when I asked if they could make it spicy, they brought me some doubanjiang (spicy bean paste). The Taiwanese ramen here was quite different from the famous Taiwanese ramen served as a staff meal at the well-known Nagoya restaurant "Aisen." In its normal state, the soup was gentle and allowed you to enjoy the sweetness of the vegetables and the flavor of the broth, with the taste of the sliced roast pork seeping through, making it very delicious. It must be the Taiwanese style of ramen that is commonly eaten there. Although it was quite different from what I was expecting, I had a very tasty Taiwanese meal.

**[Taiwan - Tongke Dumpling Restaurant]** I randomly walked into this restaurant, but it turned out to be a popular spot in Taiwan with constant queues. They offer Taiwanese beer, pig trotters, fried eggplant, xiaolongbao, pork belly with skin, and spring rolls as appetizers, mostly priced at 380 yen with generous portions and delicious flavors. The homemade Lu Rou sauce on the fried eggplant is rich in taste and pairs well with beer. The pork belly with fermented bean and chili sauce is quite spicy but incredibly tasty, making it addictive. The xiaolongbao is filled with flavorful soup, making it a must-try. The head chef is friendly and I definitely want to come back! The only downside is the location, but if they were in Umeda or somewhere similar, I can imagine the long lines forming! #Taiwanese cuisine #Tongke Dumpling Restaurant #Taiwanese delicacies #Taiwan #pig trotters #xiaolongbao #fried eggplant #Lu Rou #spring rolls #cilantro #spicy #Taiwanese beer #Taiwanese tea #Osaka Tenmangu Shrine gourmet #Tenmangu Shrine gourmet #East Tenma gourmet #Osaka #Osaka gourmet #famous Taiwanese restaurant #Tabelog #retty #teriyaki #Osaka #foodie #foodie girls #connect with food lovers #foodstagram #food porn #food porn club #foodstagram

I went to "Taiwan Tongku Gyoza-kan" and had the lunch set of non-spicy "Taiwan Ramen" + "Fried Rice (Half)" (700 yen) out of the 8 options available. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the Kitamura Building. The set came with a salad, which was a pleasant surprise. The "Fried Rice (Half)" portion was more like two-thirds and had a greasy texture. The "Taiwan Ramen" was not spicy, unlike the famous spicy ramen from "Aisen" in Nagoya. It was based on Tanshui noodles with a generous amount of toppings such as Chinese cabbage, plenty of green onions, and diced pork cooked with the spice "star anise." The next time, I would like to try the "Mapo Tofu Set" which allows you to adjust the spiciness and comes with rice, salad, and soup for 650 yen.
