On the second day in Fukuoka, I decided to head to Hakata Station to use some local coupons. I chose a seafood restaurant with a unique counter seat outside. I ordered the fried horse mackerel with ponzu sauce and was impressed by the generous portion. However, the sauce and mayonnaise on top made me order another one without the sauce. I also tried the grilled mackerel, which was delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, especially when I finally tried the fried horse mackerel with ponzu sauce. The total bill came to 3240 yen, which was quite reasonable for a meal at the largest terminal station in Kyushu.

I had some business at Hakata Station and wanted to grab a quick lunch, so I headed to Horoyoi-dori. This area is known for being a place where you can drink from lunchtime onwards, but this izakaya is popular for its lunch menu. I visited on a weekday at 1 pm and the place was packed. I had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated. The restaurant allows drinking from lunchtime, so there were people drinking and others having lunch all mixed together in the crowded space. Even though I was alone, I was seated at a table for two and shared it with a stranger. As a lunch special, they offered all-you-can-drink draft beer for an extra 100 yen. I ordered the "makunai-don" for 990 yen. The dish was served on a single tray, along with pickles and soup. The fish was yellowtail, cut into large pieces and topped with a delicious sesame sauce. The fact that the restaurant is run by a fishmonger really shows in the quality of the fish. It was tasty and most importantly, very reasonably priced, which is probably why the place was still busy even after I finished my meal. It's definitely a great option for office workers.

Fukuoka Meal Part 3: Before going to bed, I wanted to have a little drink so I went to Tatsueimaru in Hakata Station. I started with a beer while deciding what to eat. I wasn't very hungry, so I wanted something small and Hakata-like. I ordered the local specialty dish called "game-ni" and mentaiko croquette. Game-ni is a traditional Fukuoka dish with lots of vegetables and meat, very delicious. For my second drink, I switched to shochu on the rocks and had another round. The mentaiko croquette was okay, just as I expected. I was lucky to have the counter all to myself, so I could relax and enjoy my drinks.

Since the company cafeteria is gone, I've been struggling to find lunch options since July. There are quite a few bento shops around, but they all seem a bit bland. Plus, it needs to be affordable since it's a daily thing! So today, I followed a recommendation and tried this place. I knew it was busy at night, but I didn't know they also served lunch. For just 600 yen, the portion size was satisfying. The place was packed with customers. They have several options for 600 yen lunches, and next time, I'll try the "aradaki lunch"!

"Alicia's Food Log: I met a friend at the station who was coming to Hakata, and we headed to this place. We entered the restaurant as soon as it opened. I wanted to eat a seafood bowl, but seeing everyone around me drinking beer made me want one too, so I ended up ordering it. Beer, seafood bowl, and grilled fish head! Yes, a fish head! I was curious about what it would be like, and it turned out to be exactly as shown in the photo (laughs). It took a little time, but the skin was crispy and the inside was fluffy when it was grilled, with a huge portion. The seafood bowl had the ingredients and rice served separately, with miso sauce provided on the side for dipping or enjoying with soy sauce on the table, allowing for different flavor combinations. The sashimi on the seafood bowl was thickly sliced, also with a generous portion. Surprisingly, the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing lunch."

For today's Fukuoka lunch, I went to Hakata Station. I had been curious about this place for a while, located on the first floor of Deitos. The second floor is known for its ramen alley, but most of the restaurants on the first floor's drinking street also serve lunch. There was a line of 6-7 people in front of this place, but I decided to wait. The lunch seemed to be only 600 yen! After about 10 minutes of waiting, I entered the restaurant. It was a busy place, but they were efficient in serving customers. I sat at a table for two, sharing with another person, but there was a partition in front of us so it didn't bother me. I ordered the "Ala-ni" (600 yen), which seemed to be the most popular choice as many others were ordering it as well. In just 3-4 minutes, my dish arrived. It consisted of a plate of Ala (fish head and bones), rice, soup, pickles, and a separate bowl of broth. The Ala had a sweet and savory soy sauce flavor. It was a bit salty, especially when dipped in the broth. The meat around the bones and the head were delicious. Despite the appearance, there was a lot of food on the plate. The strong flavor paired well with the rice. I noticed that they offered refills for rice, soup, and pickles. I decided to get a refill of rice once. Honestly, I started to get full halfway through, but I pushed through and finished it all. It might be best to come with someone and share the Ala and fried chicken. After finishing the meal, I was quite full and a good amount of time had passed. Customers who ordered the Ala seemed to stay longer than others who ordered different dishes. The person in front of me ordered at the same time, but they were only halfway through when I left (laughs). I paid the bill and left, but honestly, I thought, "Is this price really okay?" I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

Cheap lunch at Sakana-ya Shokudo Tatsuemaru in Hakata Station Central Street on July 16, 2023 (Sunday). I went to Sakana-ya Shokudo Tatsuemaru on this day. It was raining heavily, so I looked for a place inside the station where I wouldn't get wet while eating. That's why I decided on this restaurant. The weekday lunch special is attractive at 600 yen. Plus, you can get free refills of rice, miso soup, and pickles. It used to be 500 yen until recently though. The daily special lunch also looks delicious at a reasonable price. I ordered the chicken karaage for 600 yen (tax included). It came with five large karaage pieces and lemon slices. It would have been nice to have mayonnaise too. The lunch was very satisfying in terms of both price and taste. Located at Hakata Station Central Street 1-1, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. Closed on holidays following Hakata Station Deitos hours.

Located inside Deitos, this restaurant offers lunch sets ranging from 600 yen, which is a great deal considering its prime location right in the middle of the station. Despite being crowded with mostly solo diners, including many women, it was surprisingly easy to find a seat. The staff were plentiful and seemed very busy with customers coming in and out constantly. I ordered the popular "ara-jiru" set for 600 yen, and it arrived in just 2 minutes. The portion size was generous, but the fish had a lot of bones making it a bit difficult to eat. However, the flavor was excellent and the staff even provided a separate plate for the bones. The rice was a bit too moist for my liking, and I felt that the portion was a bit small compared to the flavorful main dish. I ended up getting a refill, which was a nice perk. The miso soup was light and delicious, and I also got a refill of that. Overall, despite some minor complaints, the fact that rice and soup refills were free, and the generous portion of the main dish for 600 yen, makes this place a great value. I saw they also offer other dishes like "oyl-lin chicken" and seafood bowl, so I definitely want to come back soon.

When you come to Hakata, you want to eat delicious food and drink good sake even in the short gap between lunch and dinner. This place is perfect for that. I have been here more than 10 times, and it never disappoints with its convenience, quality of food and drinks. This time, I ordered the raw kawahagi (filefish) and it exceeded my expectations threefold. It was so delicious, especially with the liver ponzu sauce. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

After having a late lunch and eating too much sushi in a short amount of time, my stomach was feeling a bit overwhelmed. However, I decided to take a leisurely stroll through the sake bar district near the souvenir shop in Hakata Station. I noticed a bustling place called "Sakanaya Shokudo Tatsuyoshi" and found a reasonably priced "drinking set" to order. It included sesame dressing sashimi, kimchi, sand lance fry, and edamame as a snack, along with a drink for 1390 yen. It was delicious. I realized that they are open from around noon, so I might come back for a daytime drink next time! *I actually mistakenly thought that the price included "gomasaba". I will definitely visit again! This time, during the day.

The lunch set meal was 600 yen~ There were options like fried chicken set meal, mackerel set meal, and horse mackerel fry set meal, all priced at 600 yen. The horse mackerel fry and daily special were sold out for the day. Pickles, rice, and miso soup were all free for seconds. There were 3 types of soy sauce and shichimi available. ✨

Located in the food court on the first floor of Deitos at Hakata Station. Lunch options include grilled fish, fried chicken, fried horse mackerel, and simmered fish starting from 600 yen. They also offer daily specials and seafood bowls. I ordered the simmered fish set for 600 yen. It arrived just a few minutes after ordering and included a large yellowtail head, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The rich simmered fish went so well with the rice! The thick broth was also amazing! By the way, you can have unlimited refills of rice, soup, and pickles. I finished one bowl of rice with the simmered fish, and couldn't let the broth go to waste so I had a refill. Thank you for the delicious meal! (^~^)

We eagerly headed out to Hakata to meet with friends and their family. Arriving a bit early, we stopped by "Tatsuyamaru" on the first floor of Hakata Station Daimyo Street for a quick drink. We found some nice menu options - the "Horo Yoi Set" and the "Choi Nomimono Set". We each ordered one! The "Horo Yoi Set" for 1,390 yen includes an appetizer, a sashimi platter, vinegar motsu (offal), and fried squid. You can choose from draft beer, Jim Beam, or a soft drink. The "Choi Nomimono Set" for 1,390 yen includes an appetizer, sesame sauce sashimi, kimchi, and crispy fried sand lance fish. You can also choose from draft beer, Jim Beam, or a soft drink. These sets are just right for a casual drink! We ended up having an extra draft beer each while enjoying the meal. Whether you're looking for a light drink or a full-on drinking session with your meal, this place is perfect. It's also convenient for solo diners, and we had a great time passing the time here! Thank you for the meal.

In Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, inside Hakata Station, at the front of Deitos Horoyoi Street, there is a restaurant called "Sakanaya Shokudo Tatsueimaru." They offer a one-coin lunch, which caught my attention. However, when I visited, I was disappointed to see a sign saying "600 yen" pasted over the original price. Still, it is a very reasonable price. I ordered the fish stew. The portion was generous and the flavor was just right with a hint of ginger. The meal also came with free refills of rice, soup, and pickles. The rice was a bit sticky and the soup was a bit plain, but overall, it was a good meal for the price. I would like to visit again and reevaluate next time.

Hakata Station, located on the 1st floor of Hakata Daimaru, is here on Horoyoi Street. I took a leisurely stroll around this area in the evening, but it was too crowded! I bought some souvenirs and had a drink here before heading back to Osaka. Even though it was early evening, the restaurant was almost full. Luckily, we were able to get a table. While reminiscing about Hakata, we enjoyed some specialties like sesame amberjack and recommended cuttlefish sashimi. Cuttlefish is called "mizuika" in Kyushu, which is the local name for it. Hakata has delicious food, no matter what you eat, it's delicious! It's also close by Shinkansen from Osaka, so it's convenient. Thank you for the delicious meal to end my business trip in Hakata! At Hakata Station, the training session ended surprisingly early. A friend from another company also attended the training, so we decided to have a light drink at Sake no Hana, but ended up having a great time for 2 hours. We saw that friend off at the subway entrance, and then two of us went for the actual training session celebration. We ended up at Horo Yoi-dori, a place I had been curious about but had never visited before. We went into Tatsueimaru. The "light drink set" for 1200 yen included the items shown in the photo - kibinago tempura, sesame amberjack, kimchi, and edamame. We restarted with beer for drinks (laughs). The sesame amberjack was quite generous in portion, and with just these snacks, we were good for a while. We ordered additional snacks and drinks, spending just over 2000 yen per person. All the restaurants were crowded with customers, which is why they are so lively. I would like to go back again. Thank you for the meal!

In a corner of the lively Hakata tipsy street is "Sakanaya Shokudo." They offer "Grilled Blowfish Sashimi" for ¥990, "Spear Squid Sashimi" for ¥690, and "Appetizer - Fried Fish with Ponzu Sauce" for ¥290. They also have "Jim Beam Highball" for ¥280. It was happy hour when I visited! My Instagram account "y.catherine.y" has surpassed 3,400 followers!

I wanted to have a lunch drink during my trip, so I went to this lively place with lots of salarymen, locals, and customers. I wanted to eat fresh fish, so I tried the sesame mackerel and a meat dish with a unique name...was it called turtle shell? I usually don't eat these kinds of things, but they were delicious! I want to go back again. ⤴️

I was seated at the counter and decided to revisit for lunch as they offered a sesame sauce bowl. They had a daily sesame sauce bowl, and on this day it was made with yellowtail. The sweet Kyushu soy sauce sesame sauce paired well with the tender and thick slices of yellowtail. The fish was delicious on its own too. The sesame sauce was to my liking, and it made the rice very enjoyable. The broth was light and I was able to get seconds of rice and broth, leaving me feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

The "makanaidon" bowl is filled with plenty of fresh and delicious fish on top of rice, served with miso soup and free refills! The sesame sauce is a must-try. With this volume and freshness, the price is only 800 yen including tax. Seafood bowls usually cost over 1000 yen, so this is a great deal. They also offer other options like fried chicken set meals and grilled fish set meals for only 500 yen including tax! Amazing prices. I'm sure the food is delicious at night too. Since Hakata Station is on the way, I'll definitely be visiting again. Thank you for the meal!
