Seafood bowl and bamboo were ordered. What arrived was this. Decent seafood. Nothing particularly noteworthy. I heard it was supposed to be luxurious and thick, but it was just okay. Unsure if paying over 1000 yen is worth it. Maybe my expectations are stuck on old prices, but I probably won't revisit. I'll try going at night since they seem to focus on seafood.

"Sakana Shokudo Moken" Osaka City Konohana Ward Nishi Kujo 4-1-28 JR Nishi Kujo Station Front Overpass Nishi Kujo When it comes to lunch in Osaka, this is the place to go. This is my third visit. I always order the Market Bowl with Matsutake mushrooms, but today I ordered the Squid Bowl with extra squid for 1,750 yen. The extra rice is free, but the owner gave me a regular portion. This shop is directly operated by a fishmonger from the Osaka Central Wholesale Market, so the quality of the ingredients is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. This squid is from Nagasaki and has a nice chewy texture. It comes with vinegar miso on the side. The egg yolk and grated yam go well together. It's such a pleasure to be able to enjoy such delicious squid in Osaka. Thank you for the meal."

I recently discovered a new fish restaurant✨ I went there for lunch and they had a variety of seafood bowls to choose from! I had the "Ichiba Don Take" and was pleasantly surprised by the thick and fresh sashimi selection. For 1,050 yen, I think it's a great deal! The miso soup was also a nice touch.

Located just a 1-minute walk from JR Nishi-Kujo Station, moken is a seafood restaurant under the elevated tracks, operated by a fishmonger from the Osaka Central Wholesale Market. I was intrigued by the colorful seafood bowls during weekday lunchtime, so I decided to visit for the first time. The interior of the restaurant is spacious with a refreshing Japanese atmosphere, and they even have a TV playing. Their specialty is the squid bowl (¥1140) made with squid from Nagasaki. The market bowls are categorized into three grades - pine, bamboo, and plum. I ordered the Hokkai Irodori Don (¥1500) as I love Hokkaido, and it was full of various seafood. The difference between this and the market bowl wasn't very noticeable. The Hokkai Irodori Don featured scallops and surf clams in addition to the regular ingredients. The large shrimp and thick scallop add a satisfying texture, and the tuna and salmon slices were generous. The rice is vinegared and you can get a free extra serving, along with red miso soup. The freshness and richness of the dish were exceptional. While it would be even better if it were a bit cheaper, the generously topped bowls like the three-color bowl and salmon bowl under ¥1000 are quite reasonable. In summary, the beautifully presented seafood bowls made with the freshest seafood selected on the day from the wholesale market are exquisite. They also have a variety of Japanese sake, so I would like to try some light drinking with sashimi and sushi. You can find videos on Instagram @moritapan7.

When I asked what was in the Hokkai Irodori Donburi on the menu, the staff made a sarcastic remark like "What's in it?" I was already feeling like leaving, but I held back and ordered the Ichiba Donburi instead. It was just okay. Interestingly, the eel was missing from my order even though the person next to me ordered the same dish. Just like other reviews mentioned, this restaurant was disappointing.

*Market Donburi - Pine ¥1250
The ingredients vary daily as they are sourced directly from the market. I was debating between the Market Donburi and the Hokkai Irodori Donburi, so I asked how they were different. I was told that the Hokkai Irodori Donburi has more shellfish, so I chose the Market Donburi as I wanted to have sashimi. It was luxurious with over 10 types of fresh ingredients. The rice is vinegared rice, and you can get a free large serving."

The restaurant is very clean and the steamed clams are delicious with a nice broth. The fried white fish with tartar sauce is also good, whether you eat it with the original sauce or mix them together. I personally like to mix them for a hearty meal.

Today was my second visit to the market bowl Matsuri, and I ordered the Matsuri bowl again. I was looking forward to seeing how the ingredients would be different this time since it's a different season. My expectations were met as there was a variety of fresh seasonal ingredients. The presentation was even better than I expected, and my guests from Kumamoto were also very pleased. Thank you for the delicious meal once again!

For lunch at Moken in Donburi Matsunishi Kujyo, I had the seafood bowl. The menu doesn't have photos, so it's a bit hard to order, but apparently the contents change depending on the ingredients. It's quite a luxurious seafood bowl with large cuts of fish and a generous portion. The soy sauce used is not regular soy sauce, but a sweet and savory sauce similar to dashi soy sauce. This sauce is also delicious.

To begin with, boasting about the food you eat to others doesn't seem very appetizing. It's become quite common lately, hasn't it? Anyway, I'm used to eating fresh fish, so the sashimi was just average for me. The red miso soup was okay, just grateful it was included. The sushi rice was on the sweeter side. I'd give it a solid 3 stars. It would have been nice if a small side dish was included. They don't accept cards or PayPay, which was a bit inconvenient, but the service was really good, without a hint of displeasure. The restaurant is very clean. However, the phone signal is almost nonexistent, haha.

Located under the elevated track at Nishikujo Station on the JR Loop Line, near the Osaka Central Wholesale Market, is the restaurant "moken" where you can enjoy fresh seafood at reasonable prices. The long interior of the restaurant has a counter and around 13 two-seater tables, which can be combined to accommodate groups of 4 or 6 people. Some menu highlights include the "Tarafuku Don" for 1500 yen (tax included) and the "Ichiba Don Matsu" for 1350 yen (tax included), both featuring a variety of fresh ingredients and vibrant colors. Although it was sold out on the day of the visit, the limited edition "Service Don" for 800 yen (tax included) is a great deal. Conveniently located under the elevated track at Nishikujo, which is a starting point for Universal Studios, this restaurant is recommended for family outings or lunch with friends. Thank you for the delicious meal! (^O^)/

We stormed into a shop located under the elevated tracks of JR Loop Line Nishikujo Station, known for its cheap and delicious fish. This shop is operated directly by a wholesaler from the Central Wholesale Market, so you can enjoy fresh seafood at a reasonable price. The shop's name comes from the Moken, a minority group known as "sea gypsies" who live a self-sufficient life at sea, worshiping the turtle as a god that connects the sea and land. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes from sashimi to simmered and grilled dishes, sushi, and seafood bowls, with a lineup of daily catches as well. We ordered the thick-cut salmon carpaccio for 780 yen and the tuna bowl for 850 yen. The salmon was thick and delicious. It's no surprise, given that it's directly operated by a wholesaler. How about stopping by on your way back from USJ? (laughs)

I entered the store as soon as it opened. It was my first time at this restaurant, and I had fresh fish dishes and sushi. I had a sashimi platter, grilled blowfish, octopus tempura, cucumber roll, and shrimp tempura roll.

I tried ordering the seafood bowl for 800 yen during the lunchtime special, even though it wasn't delicious. It was not worth the original price of 1100 yen. The freshness was lacking, and the vinegar rice and miso soup were also disappointing. The miso soup seemed like it was made with unfiltered broth, so it had a strange smell. I will never go back again.
