"Sun Tower Western Confectionery Shop" is located near Osaka Metro Nakazakicho Station, with the main store and affiliated branches scattered around the area. However, one branch of the affiliated stores is located in "Namba CITY" in Osaka Namba. The old store "Patisserie Taiyo no To" was relocated and expanded on December 10, 2021 (Friday), with a new store located under the elevated JR Osaka Loop Line next to the old store. The name changed from "Patisserie Taiyo no To" to "Sun Tower Western Confectionery Shop". The old store was a small shop where eating in was not possible, but the new store is spacious and allows for dining in. The old store is now being used as a staff room. The old store "Patisserie Taiyo no To" is famous for its icing cookies and has participated in events at Hankyu Department Store. The new store has a glass exterior and a avant-garde interior design, with a calm atmosphere. There is also a terrace seating area. The store was not very crowded, perhaps not well-known yet. The showcase displays a variety of cakes, with sliced cakes priced mostly between 550 yen and 620 yen (in-store price) for 12 different types, offering reasonable prices. They were selling only one whole cake with seasonal fruit decoration (2400 yen ← in-store price). The cheapest item in the showcase is the Cookie Cream Bomb (280 yen ← in-store price), which is a popular item. There were also baked goods on the tables, such as Financier (200 yen ← in-store price) and Lemon Cake (300 yen ← in-store price) sold individually. The prices are displayed in-store, so it's a bit confusing when calculating for dining in, as you need to deduct 10%. When asking the staff for recommendations, they mentioned that many male customers prefer the Cookie Cream Bomb, but I decided to try the "Rich Gateau Chocolat" (561 yen ← dining in price) based on their suggestion. I chose Earl Grey tea (459 yen ← dining in price) from the four types of hot tea available. The hot tea selection includes tea leaves from "English Tea Shop," a manufacturer that has also participated in department store events like the "British Fair." You order at the counter, and the staff brings the items to your table. The tea and cake were served in cute packaging with the "Sun Tower" logo. However, the tea was served in a paper cup with a tea bag inside, and there was no saucer, so it was a bit awkward to dispose of the used tea bag. The fork was provided, but there were no stirrers, sugar, milk, or fresh cream, and the condiment bar kit was not mentioned. It felt a bit odd not to have the condiment bar kit near the entrance, as it is usually found near the counter. The tea was delicious, and the Rich Gateau Chocolat had a texture closer to a brownie than a regular Gateau Chocolat, with a rich flavor. Overall, it was tasty. The size of the cut cakes at Sun Tower Western Confectionery Shop seemed slightly larger than usual, with a taller height. On a side note, the toilet paper holder in the restroom had a Tutankhamun pattern, which I found interesting.
