Hakata Hankyu, located right by Hakata Station, is a popular spot. The underground department store has many shops, making window shopping enjoyable. Among them is Morozoff, a Western confectionery store. Intrigued by the "Hakata limited edition" label, I asked the staff about it. They told me, "It uses milk from Fukuoka Prefecture, so you can enjoy a milkier taste and aroma than regular pudding." I purchased the Hakata Pudding for 357 yen tax included. It comes in a glass container. The pudding is smooth rather than firm, with a subtle custard flavor that allows you to savor the taste of milk. Delicious!

Did you know that Morozoff Fukuoka is located in the Hankyu department store basement? The cake shaped like a carnation (or a rose?) is beautifully finished, perfect for Mother's Day. It's almost too beautiful to eat, but I couldn't resist taking a bite. As expected from Morozoff, it's delicious!

After a long time, I had Morozoff's cheesecake. It has been around for many years, although I'm not sure exactly how long. It is a delicious cheesecake with a hint of lemon. It is not overly sweet or heavy, but rather a refreshing cheesecake. It has maintained its deliciousness over the years. It goes well with black tea. I was able to enjoy a moment of relaxation and healing. Thank you for the meal.

In the past, my house was filled with Morozoff pudding cups. I kept them thinking I would use them someday, but ended up not using them and disposed of all of them. Back then, there was only one type of pudding available, but now there are more variations. Intrigued by the phrase "winter edition," I bought the "creamy pudding" and "Uji matcha pudding." The "creamy pudding" was indeed creamy, more like a drink than a pudding. The creaminess exceeded my imagination. While it was delicious, I still prefer a bit more firmness. The Uji matcha pudding container, with ring-shaped lines like water ripples, reminded me of the glassware by the Nordic master Alvar Aalto. I can't help but feel it's a waste to throw it away.

Morozoff sells a Fukuoka-exclusive baked snack called "Kurukuruhakata," so I bought this as a souvenir this time. There were various sizes available, but I purchased a 24-piece box for the souvenir and a 7-piece box for myself.
The "Kurukuruhakata" consists of a crepe-like outer layer coated with six different flavors of cream: Fukuoka-grown Amaou strawberries, Kumamoto's Aso Jersey milk, Yame tea from Fukuoka, Hyuganatsu from Miyazaki, purple sweet potatoes from Kagoshima, and ginger from Kumamoto. There are 2 Amaou strawberries included, followed by one of each of the other flavors, totaling 7 pieces.
The snack has a light and crispy cookie-like outer layer with a creamy coating inside, creating a good combination. Each piece allows you to enjoy the flavors from various regions of Kyushu, making it a nice choice for a souvenir.
The Amaou strawberries, Yame tea, and purple sweet potatoes have a familiar sweet and delicious taste. The Hyuganatsu offers a refreshing hint of acidity, making it enjoyable. The ginger provides a sharp kick, adding a unique flavor. However, the Aso Jersey milk may feel a bit too mild for some, lacking a bit of flavor.
Overall, the Kurukuruhakata is a delicious treat that allows you to savor the different tastes of Kyushu. It's a good option for a Kyushu souvenir, with each flavor offering a unique and enjoyable experience.

I purchased a Hakata-exclusive souvenir at Morozoff Hakata Hankyu store. The "Kurukuru Hakata" (540 yen) caught my eye with its cute packaging. Inside the colorful crepe layers is a coating of cream. The flavors include Fukuoka's famous Amaou strawberries, Yame tea, Kumamoto's Aso Jersey milk, ginger, Kagoshima's purple sweet potato, and Miyazaki's Hyuganatsu citrus, all sourced from Kyushu. As soon as you open the package, the rich aroma of each ingredient is delightful, and the crispy, melting texture is wonderful. It's very beautiful and highly recommended.

Located in Hakata Hankyu, there is Morozoff. Morozoff is a well-known... famous shop, isn't it? It's not uncommon in urban areas like Fukuoka, but it was rare in Yamaguchi Prefecture (laughs). It's only found in some department stores...^^; As expected, the staff's service is polite, and you can choose products comfortably. What I bought this time was: Hakata Pudding 324 yen, Chocolate Rich Pudding 378 yen, Custard Rich Pudding 378 yen, Custard Pudding 324 yen. I'm weak when it comes to limited edition items... Hengel. I didn't know there was Hakata Pudding... Make a Yamaguchi Pudding too... (laughs). This Hakata Pudding uses milk from a ranch in Fukuoka... They have their own commitment, huh? As for the taste, it's not amazing, but it feels refreshing. It's delicious in its own way. The Custard Rich Pudding made a strong impression. It's quite rich... If there's only a slight price difference, this choice is also good. Furthermore, the Chocolate Rich Pudding is a collaboration with Morozoff's specialty chocolate. It can't be bad (laughs). Lastly, the Custard Pudding. It stands out for its lightness compared to the others, but it's the most memorable for me. I only knew this taste of Morozoff's pudding in the past... When I was a child, I used to be happy to receive it as a gift from visitors. But... I used to dislike the bitterness when I reached the caramel sauce at the bottom... (laughs). Even that bitterness in the caramel sauce now tastes sweet to me. Have I changed... Has the caramel sauce changed... Or maybe both have changed? And after eating this pudding, the glass container was always reused for various purposes. Decades ago... In nearby diners, all the cups they used were reused from one-cup sake or Morozoff pudding containers... (bitter smile). The glass containers have become more stylish now than they were back then. I got 2 of each, 2 types... What should I use them for... (laughs).

Over the weekend, I went to Hakata Hankyu to buy baby clothes as a gift for my younger brother's new baby. On the way back, I stopped by here to get some dessert. Morozoff is famous for their pudding, but my little one was really interested in this cheese tart, so I bought three. The Dutch Edam Cheese Tart (378 yen) is made with rich and creamy Edam cheese from the Netherlands. When we got home, we tried it and it was delicious. The cheese flavor was rich and smooth. It might be nice to treat yourself to a more luxurious cheese tart around Christmas time.

I bought these when I wandered around Hakata Hankyu. ・Creamy Custard Pudding (324 yen): I took a bite. It's a pudding with a smooth and creamy texture. It seems like something sweet tooths would enjoy. ・Fruit Glass Jelly (Satonishiki & White Peach) (324 yen): A refreshing jelly with cherries. The pink color looks like carrot juice. Inside the jelly, there are white peaches. Even if you're not a sweet tooth, this jelly is delicious.

The items I purchased this time were Hakata pudding and Intensely Premium Custard Pudding (made with Oku-Tanba eggs). Both my daughter and I agreed that we preferred the Intensely Premium Custard Pudding♡. While the Hakata pudding was delicious as well, everyone has different preferences. The Hakata pudding has a slightly rustic taste with a rich and crispy texture, while the premium pudding comes with a candy plate on top, giving it a luxurious feel and making it taste delicious. This Intensely Premium Custard Pudding is only available at limited stores for a limited time, so if you want to try it, hurry up! As for the Danish cream cheese cake, it was my first time trying it and I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be simple yet flavorful and delicious. It has a rich taste of Danish cream cheese enhanced by a subtle lemon flavor, making it easy for anyone to enjoy.

Now, I have come to Hakata, Fukuoka Prefecture, and made a dash to Hakata Hankyu. Morozoff offers Cocoa Peanuts for 129 yen including tax. My parents like it, so I sometimes buy it for them. This time, I was drawn to the Kyushu limited edition, the Sweet Potato Sweet Potato with buttery sweet potato flavor. The moist dough and white bean paste were delicious! Thank you for the meal! I received a souvenir from a friend from Fukuoka. I didn't know that Morozoff had such sweets. It's like a big Colon, with crispy crepe dough filled with various flavored creams. There are flavors like Amaou strawberry, Aso Jersey milk, Yame tea, Hyuganatsu, purple sweet potato, and ginger. Each one has a scent that reminds you of its flavor. Personally, I liked the strawberry and Hyuganatsu ones. I always welcome this kind of souvenir! 🍓
