I went to a recommended izakaya that a friend told me about. It seems that their specialty dishes are tonkatsu and maguro don (tuna bowl). They also offer lunch during weekdays. Let's start with drinks. Since it was the last day of my trip, I decided to order some alcohol. The menu had a section called "Drink Parade," which I found cute. First, I had plum wine. I used to love plum wine and would easily drink 5-6 plum wine rocks in the past (laughs). The appetizer consisted of vinegar tripe and meatball stew, which was surprisingly generous in portion and delicious. The meatball had cartilage in it, giving it a nice texture. There was also a limited edition sashimi menu called "Meat Find," which I found cute. I tried sesame mackerel for the first time and it was delicious. Fresh mackerel topped with plenty of sesame and seaweed. I also tried their homemade satsuma-age, which was round in shape and filled with onions and mushrooms. It was fluffy and tasty. Lastly, they served miso soup, which was the best I've ever had. It had a sweet taste and was a perfect way to end the meal. When I tried to pay with electronic money, they hadn't activated the machine yet, so I paid with cash. As a parting gift, they gave each of us a banana to have for breakfast the next day. Overall, it was a delightful and delicious dining experience.

This restaurant is strict about time, so please make sure not to be late for your reservation. Everything you eat here, especially the sashimi, is delicious. The fillet cutlet was also very tender and tasty. The grilled beef intestines were also delicious, and they go well with shochu. They serve miso soup as a finishing touch. They also give out bananas as souvenirs when you leave. If you see someone holding a banana in front of Hakata Station, it's for people returning from Teppei, not for you.

This restaurant is a favorite among salarymen, offering a variety of meat and fish dishes. I visited because I ran out of my favorite spicy sauce, "Sauce Co", which I use at home. One of the good things about this place is that the prices are reasonable and the selection of meat and fish dishes is great. The pork cutlet is tender, the pork loin cutlet is juicy with just the right amount of fat, and the tuna is highly recommended. Especially the seafood bowl dishes are packed with ingredients, and mixing in some spicy mustard adds an extra kick. The curry has bacon in it, but lacks a bit of spiciness, so I adjust by adding Sauce Co before eating. The combination of cutlets and curry is perfect. They also offer evening izakaya options for group gatherings at affordable prices. The balance of taste and price is excellent.

Due to the influence of Typhoon No. 7, I had to leave Hakata in the early afternoon, so I decided to have lunch near the office. It had been over half a year since I last visited this place, and there was a long line outside the shop. The turnover was fast, so I decided to wait in line. This time, I ordered the sesame mix and a piece of pork cutlet, and it was delicious as always.

I used it for a company dinner. I had made a reservation, so there were plenty of appetizers. (photo) There was a lot of food like sesame mackerel and sweet potato tempura, and the taste was pretty good. It's rare to see raw egg with sesame mackerel in Fukuoka, isn't it? Fried food is a specialty, so we also ordered loin cutlet and fillet cutlet. The price of both the alcohol and the food is cheap. I will definitely come back.

The shop had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with the owner being very friendly. You can tell as soon as you walk in. This time, I only managed to take a photo of the grilled turban shell. It gives off the impression of being an izakaya where locals in Fukuoka come to eat. In addition to the grilled turban shell, I also tried the kushikatsu, satsuma-age, and sea grapes. The homemade satsuma-age is something you must try at least once. You can experience a unique texture that you can't find in other shops.

During the renovation work in progress at the main branch of Nishi-Nippon City Bank on June 14, 2023, I visited an izakaya called "Teppei" located between Meiji Park and the main store of Hakata Ikkosha. This place is known for its "tonkatsu" and "maguro-don" as their signature dishes. I arrived just before noon and was able to be seated without waiting, although it was a shared table. By the time I left, the place was crowded with nearby business people. The interior of the restaurant has counter seats, table seats, and tatami mat seating, divided into several sections by walls. The walls had posters of recommended dishes, giving a cozy and slightly cramped atmosphere, adding to the charm of a casual izakaya. While they offer set meals with fillet or loin cutlet, the main attraction is the combination of Tekka-don and fillet cutlet. The Tekka-don comes in various styles like regular, topped with mountain vegetables, or with natto. The fillet cutlet was sizable and thick, with a crispy breadcrumb coating and tender meat inside. The dish was served with a special sauce that enhanced its flavor. A sign saying "Established on April 3, 1991" was displayed, indicating that this place has been a beloved establishment for over 30 years.

One of the joys of being a salaryman is going on business trips! To prepare for an afternoon of work, I went for an early morning walk. After walking 25,000 steps, I needed a hearty lunch to refuel. I decided to try out a nearby izakaya called "Teppei" that I had been curious about. The restaurant is known for its Tekka Don lunch set, so I was excited to finally visit. Even though it was past 12:30, the place was bustling with salarymen coming in and out, which only heightened my expectations. I was recommended to try the "Tekka Don x Hire Katsu" set, so I opted for the Hire Katsu Curry (1 piece) with extra rice. The Hire Katsu was thick and cut into halves, promising a satisfying meal. The curry was filled with minced meat, vegetables, and pork belly, reminding me of homemade curry. The extra rice was definitely a good choice! I chatted with a local while waiting in line, and we exchanged thumbs up as I enjoyed my meal. The total cost for the Hire Katsu Curry (1 piece) with extra rice (+150 yen) was 850 yen.

I was planning to go to an okonomiyaki restaurant, but it was crowded, so I ended up looking for another place towards Hakata Station. I stumbled upon a historic building that looked like it had been around for ages, which made me think it must be good. I couldn't quite tell what kind of place it was, but it seemed like they mainly served tonkatsu. I was hesitant, but I decided to order the Tekkadon with an extra hire katsu for 900 yen. Surprisingly, the hire katsu arrived in just 3 minutes, followed by the Tekkadon. The miso soup was delicious with fish in it. The Tekkadon was fresh and had a good balance of nori, egg, and sauce. It seemed a bit small for a man, but the hire katsu was hot and tasty. Overall, the balance of the meal was excellent for lunch. They made a mistake with the change, but it was all good.

Today, I want to eat Katsudon! Where should I eat it? I visited here a few days ago, but they were sold out of Katsudon, so I couldn't eat it. This is my third visit. It's lunchtime, so the place is bustling with salarymen. The restaurant is almost full. I was seated at a table with partitions and had to wait a bit. I don't see anyone ordering Katsudon. Here comes my Katsudon. The thickness of the cutlet is average. There was nori on top of the cutlet, which wasn't in the picture. The combination of Katsudon and nori is not my favorite. The Katsudon here has a lot of sweet broth, but it's not that sweet. It came with salad and miso soup. After finishing my meal, I checked the entrance photo, but there was no nori. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the toppings were different. They should update the photo.

Today, I felt like eating some fish. I couldn't decide between sashimi set or seafood bowl. After thinking for 30 seconds, I had a flash of inspiration - I should go to "Teppei"! So, I headed to "Teppei" near JR Hakata Station. As I approached the restaurant, I saw a long line, but it turned out to be for the ramen shop next door, "Ikkousha Main Store". I managed to get into "Teppei" without waiting. I ordered the Tekkadon (tuna bowl) + 1 piece of pork cutlet set (tax included 900 yen). The Tekkadon was filled with lots of tuna chunks. And the pork cutlet was huge! They also served miso soup with plenty of tofu. I finished everything in no time. For 900 yen including tax, I think it was a great deal. It was my first time in a while at "Teppei", and I was completely satisfied. Delicious Tekkadon and pork cutlet. I'll definitely be back to "Teppei" again!

I visited this place last month, but I ended up coming for lunch again, haha. Last time I had a tuna bowl, so this time I ordered a curry with two pieces of pork cutlet on top. The curry is not too spicy, even children can eat it. However, there were only office workers there. There was some extra sauce on the table for those who want it spicier.

First of all, I have to say, this place is amazing. What's amazing about it? Well, it's just really amazing, there's no other way to put it. I thought it was just a regular set meal place and ordered the 900 yen pork cutlet set. Under 1000 yen near Hakata Station is quite impressive. But that thought didn't last long. Wha...t...is...this...?! How huge is this...?! Is this some kind of eating competition TV show or something? A prank...? Have I finally reached the level where I can be pranked...?! (confused) The pork cutlet is abnormally huge!!! There's no way I can finish it... It would be great for competitive eaters, but... When I bit into it... How tender it is...?! I thought it would be big and bland, but it's actually quite tender and easy to eat. Despite being a pork cutlet, there's hardly any fatty parts, just tender meat. Amazing. The pork cutlet that I attacked on an empty stomach is just too good... This must be a loss, right? How can they provide such a huge portion and still be delicious... The miso soup is also delicious... It's made with fish broth, and drinking it feels like savoring a fish soup... Wait, is this really under 1000 yen? (confused) No wonder there's a constant flow of customers... By the way, there's a set with a slightly smaller cutlet and a tuna bowl, I want to try that next!! Being able to eat both cutlet and tuna bowl, isn't that amazing??? And it's only 1100 yen. The cost performance is just mind-blowing... The biggest cutlet I've ever had, let's dig in!【Teppei】

My friend made a reservation for us at Teppei-san near Hakata Station, and I visited there. I enjoyed the sesame mackerel and other Hakata specialty izakaya dishes. The Satsuma-age was fluffy and the kushikatsu was generous in portion. Every dish went well with the alcohol. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I found a restaurant near the Kyushu office that looked delicious. They offer a variety of lunch options such as pork cutlet, seafood bowl, and curry. I ordered the mountain-style beef bowl with salmon roe and the pork cutlet set. I was completely satisfied and my stomach was full. I might try going there at night next time, haha.

This time I visited for lunch. I had visited for dinner last time and the katsu I had as a side dish with drinks was delicious, so I wanted to try the katsu curry as a main dish for lunch! The crispy and generous portion of katsu was still delicious! The evening menu was also really tasty, so I will be back soon.

I often visit a restaurant for lunch, and today I decided to go there for dinner as well. The restaurant is known for its fresh sashimi and hirekatsu (breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet). Tonight, I enjoyed some delicious chutoro (medium fatty tuna) sashimi, which was rich in flavor. They also serve a variety of deep-fried skewers, including tonkatsu (breaded and deep-fried pork cutlet), which was thick and tasty. The drink menu offers a wide selection, ranging from Sato's black beer to Noyagi's running rabbit, and even Hundred Years of Solitude, all priced between 500 to 650 yen, making it a reasonably priced restaurant. To top it off, they serve complimentary miso soup and fruit at the end of the meal, today it was a banana. The atmosphere and the dishes make me feel like I'm back at home. Thank you for the delicious meal!

It is a short walk from Hakata Station. It seems like a seafood izakaya at night, but I have been there for lunch about 3 or 4 times. They specialize in dishes like Tekka-don and tonkatsu for lunch. They also have tonkatsu set meals. On this day, I had the katsu-don! The pork cutlet was very large and filling. It is crowded with office workers, and there can be a line during lunchtime.

I visited Teppei for the first time after making a reservation in advance. I asked for recommendations and shared various dishes with my friends while enjoying some drinks. The flavors were bold but paired well with the alcohol. The drinks were flowing and the miso soup at the end was delicious with a strong fish broth. Despite ordering plenty of dishes and a bottle of alcohol, I was surprised by the total bill. The staff were friendly and the crowded restaurant had a great atmosphere. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Today, I had lunch at "Teppei" located next to Meiji Park, just west of Hakata Station. This place is popular for its high-value lunch options such as curry, tonkatsu, and maguro donburi during the day, and transforms into an izakaya at night. It was quite busy during peak hours, so I ended up sharing a table with someone. The menu offers a variety of choices including curry, tonkatsu, tekka don, and various set meals. Since I was craving curry, I quickly decided on the Rosu Katsu Curry priced at 820 yen. The food was served promptly, and within 5 minutes, the Rosu Katsu Curry arrived. The curry had a sweet, home-cooked flavor as expected. The pork cutlet was quite thick and sat on top of the curry. Personally, I prefer a thinner cutlet, but it paired well with the curry. Despite the generous portion, I managed to finish the meal. It was a satisfying dining experience.

After work, I went to a restaurant with two colleagues for a drink. We chatted about how delicious the fried horse mackerel we had last winter was, and I suggested we try the tuna cutlet today. However, when we arrived and checked the menu, there was no tuna cutlet available. I realized that my memory was mistaken, and last time I had the lunch set with seared tuna and pork cutlet. We ended up ordering fried horse mackerel, but they didn't have the lean tuna available that day. We decided to enjoy our highball drinks and ordered some appetizers like sweet potato tempura, spicy cod roe omelette, kimchi, and edamame. The appetizers were huge portions, especially the edamame which was overly salted. The sweet potato tempura was also large and came in a set of five pieces for 700 yen. We switched to sake and ordered the Kanokijiji Junmai, but it was sold out, so we got another recommendation instead. The pork shoulder pepper steak we ordered as an additional dish was tender and delicious. As we had a few more rounds of drinks, we were surprised with a complimentary dish of sea grapes, which had a delightful texture. Feeling a bit tipsy, we decided it was time to head home. It was a great meal, thank you!
