In the center of Biei, there is a long-established café that I visited after seeing it featured in a magazine. It seems to have a long history and many loyal customers. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, and the staff are very friendly. When I nodded in response to being asked, "Are you here for a meal?" they brought me the food menu. I assume there is a separate menu for drinks and desserts. The meal menu includes curry, doria, pasta, and champon noodles, among others. I decided to order the most popular item, the "Irodori Lunch Set" limited to 20 servings only on weekends (¥1,000 for the dish only, ¥1,350 with a drink). There are many drink options for the set, including herbal tea. I chose the "Herbal Tea (Mint & Green)" first. The fragrant herbal tea was served in a pot for me to enjoy. The Irodori Lunch Set was served in about 10 minutes. The large plate was filled with homemade side dishes: beef stew, chicken simmered dish, oden, komatsuna and enoki mushroom salad, paprika and small dried fish stir-fry, potato and pumpkin salad, and macaroni salad - a total of 7 side dishes. Pickled turnips, carrots, and cucumbers were served on a separate plate. All the dishes were homemade with great flavor, and it was nice to get plenty of vegetables. The rice was a mixed grain rice from Biei, and the soup was a hearty pork miso soup, making it a well-balanced and homey lunch. For dessert, I had a bavarois. At the counter seats, regular customers were chatting happily with the staff. It's a comfortable and welcoming old-fashioned café, and I would love to become a regular if it were closer to where I live!

Every Friday on the "Hillmorita" broadcast, various information about Asahikawa and its surroundings is shared. In a discussion about food places, it was mentioned that the Doria from the now closed Time Tunnel in Nishikagura has made a comeback. Intrigued, I decided to go and check it out, driving 30 minutes to Biei. Upon arrival, I noticed a popular café called Suzuran next to the Time Tunnel. It was quite crowded during lunchtime, but luckily we found a table. The prices were a bit higher than usual for a café lunch, but each dish came with a drink so it seemed reasonable. I asked if they could make a large portion, and they happily obliged. The Doria at Time Tunnel was known for its generous portion, but even the large size at this café seemed smaller. The recipe was passed down from the previous owner, who was a relative of the current owner. The taste was nostalgic, although not as rich as I remembered. It had a mild flavor, which may have been adjusted to suit the predominantly female clientele. As I started eating, I realized the Doria was piping hot and the cheese was still stretchy. The hamburger patty in the center was juicy and added to the overall enjoyment of the dish. Despite the initial heat, I managed to finish it in 3 minutes and 15 seconds. The café also offered a mini crepe as a surprise treat, which was a nice touch. Overall, the Doria was satisfying, and the large portion was filling. The experience was enjoyable, and I even joked about being able to eat a bowl of ramen afterwards. It was a good start to my quest to become the new chairman of the "Ainu Ossan Dekamori Club."

Furano and Asahikawa trip. I had ramen in Higashikawa Town while my wife had lunch at Kissaten Suzuran in Biei Town. I had a Vienna coffee and my wife ordered the colorful lunch set. The Vienna coffee was easy to drink and my wife seemed very satisfied with the colorful lunch set, which included multiple side dishes, soup, dessert, and coffee.

I had the carbonara, green curry, and pork curry for lunch. I wanted to try the Time Tunnel's gratin, but they weren't serving it that day. The carbonara had a strong flavor, the green curry had a nice coconut taste with just the right amount of spice, and the pork curry was sweet with chunks of meat and a good balance of spices. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

The oldest coffee shop in Biei‼️ This place has inherited the popular menu of Hamburger Doria from the now-defunct Time Tunnel❗️ I went there with my partner❗️ The Hamburger Doria is light and easy to eat, even for women and elderly people❗️ It's similar to Time Tunnel but slightly different... still very delicious‼️ They also have a Fruit Herb Tea❗️ It's peach-flavored tea with dried fruits in it❗️ Personally, I prefer simple tea with dried fruits... The Coffee Jelly Parfait is delicious with plenty of jelly❗️ The unique Yomogi Parfait has Yomogi ice cream in it, which is amazingly delicious‼️ It may sound strange, but it's surprisingly tasty❗️ Delicious food, highly recommended‼️

Napolitan at a cafe...♪*゚I have a feeling I will encounter something delicious.。.:*♡ I'm looking for the type like the now-closed "Pan no Ki"♪ It was so delicious~(TωT) I often go to Biei, but I didn't know about this cafe... The Napolitan Set with a mini dessert is 1200 yen. Napolitan on its own is 750 yen, and the drink set is 1100 yen. The mini dessert is an additional 100 yen. So, the total is 1200 yen... Looking at the menu... it says "Thick noodles"!? How thick are they?? Let me ask... (・∀・) They are quite thick, so if they are too thick, are they like udon noodles? No, thank you, I'll go with normal-sized noodles! LOL The salad is fresh, and the Napolitan is quite tasty♪ The fish sausage is interesting (*´艸`) Personally, I prefer a slightly richer, sweet and sour taste... Maybe next time I'll try the "Colorful Lunch" that Kitadora-san and Takurele-san were eating? I wonder if there is something like that somewhere...? A Napolitan like that...(*´˘`*)♡

I visited for lunch on Saturday, recommended by a local. The set meal with a variety of local ingredients was healthy and satisfying. The coffee had a slightly tangy flavor, which I enjoyed. I had a relaxing and fulfilling time listening to the conversations of the local people. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

About a 5-minute walk from Biei Station, this restaurant has a parking lot. When you open the door, you'll be greeted by a refreshing female staff member. To the left, there are two cozy two-person tables, while in front there is a counter that can seat about 8 people. To the right, there is a larger table that can seat 6 people. The recommended dish is the thick noodles, with a Showa retro-style Neapolitan sauce. The menu is also extensive, featuring curry and more. This restaurant is popular among locals who frequent the place.

"Please take any seat you like," the staff said as I sat down, and then they brought me some water. I ordered the colorful lunch set, which consisted of 9 side dishes along with multigrain rice and miso soup. After finishing my meal, a dessert plate arrived with chicken karaage in sweet vinegar sauce, simmered eggplant, avocado and tomato salad, squid and daikon simmered dish, cauliflower curry, pickled eggplant and carrots, egg salad, creamy potato salad, shredded cabbage with salt, pepper, and oil dressing, and fuki miso. The miso soup had wakame seaweed, fried tofu, and tofu in it. The meal also included about 200g of rice. For dessert, I had matcha pudding. I was delighted with the generous variety of dishes and the delicious flavors. It was a satisfying meal.

I chose this place for the 400th milestone. I visited on a Sunday just before noon. The shop has a surprising depth to it, making it suitable for small parties. The previous owner, who passed away 15 years ago, used to run this place, but it seems his granddaughter has taken over and revitalized the business. The food is prepared by the grandmother, and this time I tried the lunch set which was plentiful and diverse. They also offer curry and spaghetti, all of which are delicious. Despite the 15-year break, the grandmother's cooking skills are still top-notch. It's heartwarming to see the old regulars still coming in to support the shop. The lunch crowd consists of nearby office workers and occasional tourists. The regulars tend to come in the evening, so there's a good balance of customers throughout the day. It's a cozy place for a post-meal drink, with a pleasant atmosphere and good music. It's a hidden gem in the neighborhood, and I didn't know about it until now. The daughter is also friendly and beautiful. I hope this place continues to be loved by people of all ages.
