On 22.3.21, I tried my favorite Bernese mille-feuille. There were three flavors: sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, and hazelnut chocolate. Here is the secret story behind the creation of chocolate mille-feuille. ~ Story heard from the owner of Longchamp confectionery store near the now-closed Fujimi-dai station ~ After purchasing, I chatted with the mother who was running the store. The daughter is the second generation. The other day, their son-in-law saw the store being featured on the internet and the whole family was delighted. That makes it easier to talk, right? Actually, I revealed that I wrote that review and asked about the history of the shop. Surprisingly, the husband trained at Clover in Roppongi after the war and taught the chocolate pie (chocolate mille-feuille) recipe there, which was the founder of Bern. What a surprise! Furthermore, the husband's mentor here is Trianon in Koenji, which I also love. Another surprise! I never imagined that my favorite Trianon, Longchamp, and Bern were historically connected through the chocolate mille-feuille. I was able to hear a valuable story. Bern's mille-feuille is great because you can enjoy various flavors, but I still love the classic sweet one. Thank you for the meal!

This is a limited edition cake made by a chef with a focus on ingredients for certain events, not available in all stores. It seems to be free of additives, so I had to buy it immediately! I love Bern's mille-feuille, it's always delicious. Since this is a Bern pastry, it must be delicious. I found it at Takashimaya, which was a pleasant surprise for around 1200 yen. I cut it and tried it right away, and it was indeed delicious. The mille-feuille is incredibly tasty, as expected from a great pastry shop. It's a must-try! The moist pastry holds a lightly sweet milk-like cream inside. I love retro cakes and European-style cakes, so this cake is quite addictive to me. The staff at the shop are also very kind, so be sure to visit and try it out.

Of course, souvenirs are a must, but sometimes I buy things for myself too. I was so impressed when I tried the souvenirs for the first time and thought, "Wow, there are such delicious sweets!" I occasionally buy Bern's mille-feuille for myself. The packaging is cute, so it might be a nice little gift for women too.

I purchased a box of 10 mille-feuille pastries (3 milk chocolate, 4 sweet chocolate, 3 hazelnut chocolate) for 1,080 yen from a confectionery maker called Berne in Meguro, Tokyo. Berne is a European-inspired confectionery maker located in Tokyo, known for their mille-feuille pastries. They have a unique approach to marketing, with no official website or social media presence. Their main products are the mille-feuille pastries, which consist of three layers of pastry filled with cream and coated in chocolate. I bought some as a gift for a friend and decided to try some myself. The taste was similar to other similar products on the market, but it is a good choice for chocolate lovers.

Review of a shop that only posts photos, part 5. This time, from Shinjuku Takashimaya. Since it's right on my way home from work, I always end up stopping by Takashimaya. The food (or rather, sweets) section in the basement is full of temptations. Once you go in, there's no turning back. No matter how determined I am, by the time I head home, I always end up carrying something... This is the magic of department stores with various brands. I am truly like a moth to a flame. The difference from the proverb is that I fall into traps not only in summer but all year round. It's quite dangerous. This "Bern" shop can be seen in various places. Not only in famous department stores in the city, but also in large commercial facilities in the countryside. It seems to have a wide reach, even in local department stores that are working hard in my hometown. Here's what I ate: - Summer Mille-feuille (Orange, Pineapple, Coconut) When you think of Bern, you think of Mille-feuille. It's not Mille-feuille, it's Mille-feuille. It's quite affordable at around 100 yen per piece, considering it's a brand that is present in department stores. However, depending on the season or the company's policy, there are times when they only sell sets, so be careful. I have received the year-round sweet chocolates and hazelnuts as gifts many times, but I have only eaten the summer limited edition flavors when I purchased them myself. The orange and pineapple have a refreshing acidity, while the coconut has a strong sweetness and a milky impression. I like to eat them chilled in the refrigerator in the summer. - Bern's Smiling Almond A baked confection made mainly of almond powder. As mentioned in the product description, it has a moist and soft texture. It crumbles and has a nostalgic, simple taste. It also contains pistachios, but they do not have a strong presence, so I wonder how pistachio lovers would feel about it. When I purchased Bern's Smiling, they even gave me one piece each of Cheese Pie and Caramel Pie as a service, despite not buying a large quantity. As expected of something labeled as "special," they were delicious too. With such easy-to-buy prices, I will be drawn back to them time and time again... Thank you for the meal!

I have been receiving Meiji Milk Chocolate as gifts from various people for a long time! It's the perfect size for a snack, not too cheap or too expensive. It's an easy gift to give without feeling awkward. There are stores everywhere, and you can usually find it in the department store basement! The colorful and cute packaging and the variety of flavors make it enjoyable. Meiji Milk Chocolate has a creamy filling between the crispy layers that tastes delicious. I didn't pay much attention to it until I wrote this review, but I realized that without this cream, it would be too plain and boring. The flavors vary depending on the season or the set you buy. I used to love the milk chocolate, but after trying the dark chocolate for the first time, I switched to being a dark chocolate fan. I love sweet things, but I found the milk chocolate a bit too sweet. I still love both flavors though! By the way, the packaging of this product changes depending on the season. I always choose the chocolate choice, so I haven't tried the seasonal flavors yet, but I'm thinking of giving them a try next time.

I wonder how many years it has been since I first tried it. It's been a while. Bern's mille-feuille. This is addictive. I could eat as much as I want. Milk chocolate, sweet chocolate, hazelnut chocolate. I can't get tired of it. The three layers of crispy pastry are fragrant and light. This lightness is tricky though... The packaging and wrapping paper are also well done. And it's designed to be easy to eat. To be honest, it may not be the best as a souvenir, a sweet treat, or a mille-feuille, but it always ranks high. Isn't it that kind of confectionery? I also want to have Yoku Moku all to myself, but I'd like to have this one all to myself at least once.

Today's tea snack was received as a New Year's gift from a customer. They are individually wrapped stick-shaped treats. When I took a bite, the combination of chocolate, cream, and pastry created a delicious flavor that was hard to describe. Looking at the cross-section, the crispy pastry and cream were layered together and coated in chocolate. Ah, so that's why they are called mille-feuille. They have just the right amount of sweetness and go well with coffee or tea. I received two different kinds, but I couldn't quite tell the difference with my unrefined palate.

The other day, when I was at Takashimaya, I passed by a pastry shop and suddenly felt like having a mille-feuille, so I made an impulse purchase. It was a summer version mille-feuille with pineapple, coconut, and orange flavors. They recommended serving it chilled in the summer, so I put it in the fridge. The layers of flaky pastry and cream were delicious. The chocolate coating was milk chocolate, which added to the overall mille-feuille flavor. Each piece was individually wrapped, making it a good option for gifts.

I was looking for sweets that are only sold in Tokyo, and I came across this shop and decided to try it out. The product is made of crispy mille-feuille pastry covered in chocolate. I have seen similar products at events in Kanto stations during Valentine's season, but I'm not sure if it's from this shop. I wanted to taste it, so I bought the most convenient option, a set of three. The set includes milk chocolate, sweet chocolate, and hazelnut chocolate, each with a different flavor, which is nice. It is recommended to chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before eating in the summer. The packaging has a convenient opening in the middle, making it easy to eat without getting your hands dirty. The taste was as expected, not mind-blowing, but definitely better than cheap souvenir chocolates. It is crispy and delicious. I don't think anyone would dislike this. Just one piece gives a satisfying feeling of having eaten something. The three different chocolate flavors are subtle but distinct. The milk chocolate is the sweetest. The sweet chocolate is slightly bitter compared to the milk chocolate. The price is reasonable, and the packaging is cute, making it a good option for small gifts.

A pink-wrapped gift with "BeRNE" inside. The contents are, of course, "Millefeuilles". Bern's millefeuille, crispy and delicious. It's a classic gift that you'll be happy to receive, and each piece is easy to eat. Established in 1947, the millefeuille has been a long-selling product for over 40 years, so it seems to have been around since the 1960s. It is sold at 30 stores in Tokyo and the surrounding areas, such as Mitsukoshi, Takashimaya, Seibu, Tobu, Odakyu, Keio, Isetan, as well as Haneda Airport and Narita Airport. I bought 6 boxes of Bern's mille-feuille (263 yen for 3 pieces) at Shinjuku Takashimaya. The flavors were milk, hazelnut, and sweet. The crispy pastry is best enjoyed when chilled in the refrigerator until the chocolate slightly hardens. During the upcoming Valentine's season, they also offer versions with whiskey or liqueur for adults. In the summer, limited edition versions like pineapple, orange, and coconut are available. You can also purchase these online at Takashimaya's website, making it convenient for gifting. Bern Co., Ltd. is located at 3-20-5 Takaban, Meguro-ku, Tokyo. Phone: 120-048-371.

Bern's mille-feuille with a chocolate-coated crispy pie crust. It's a classic and easy-to-carry gift. Are there actually people who don't like this? It may not be a luxury taste, but the gentle sweetness is soothing. I bought a pack of 3 for myself at a reasonable price of 263 yen. There are only 2 in the photo because I already ate one! I will continue to enjoy these whenever I feel like having a little sweet treat. I bought them at the Shinjuku Takashimaya store this time, so I will refrain from commenting on the service and atmosphere.

It all started when my family bought these pastries as gifts. I tried some at home and found them to be delicious, so I started using them for gifts as well. I had only ever had mille-feuille as a dessert in restaurants, and I didn't even know that this type of sweet existed. But after trying Bern's pastries, I realized that I really love mille-feuille. We usually buy a large box for gifts, but for personal use, they are also sold in packs of about three. They are individually wrapped in milk chocolate, sweet chocolate, and hazelnut flavors, so you can eat them without getting your hands dirty. I love chocolate, and all three flavors are delicious with a mild taste. These pastries are popular as souvenirs from Tokyo, and I can see why - they are high-quality products. They are the kind of treats you can eat as many as you want.

I went shopping at Shinjuku Takashimaya, and while browsing for snacks in the basement of the store, I was drawn to Bern's mille-feuille with a cute floral wrapping. Mille-feuille is a crispy pastry with layers of pastry and cream coated in chocolate. There are three flavors available: High Milk, Sweet Chocolate, and Hazelnut Chocolate. The High Milk is creamy and sweet, the Sweet Chocolate is the most bitter, and the Hazelnut has a strong nutty flavor. They come in a pack of three for 231 yen, which is quite reasonable. There is also a summer limited edition with Coconut Cream & High Milk Chocolate, Orange Cream & Sweet Chocolate, and Pineapple Cream & Milk Chocolate. Bern is a traditional pastry shop that doesn't have a website, but their products are available at Takashimaya online shop and various department stores. In Shinjuku, you can find their shops at Keio and Odakyu department stores as well.

I received this as a souvenir. When I asked my colleagues about it, they said they knew it. So I searched it up. I usually don't like this type of mille-feuille because they tend to be too sweet, but this one is delicious! It has a mild sweetness with a rich chocolate flavor and a crispy texture. It can be eaten crispy in the mouth, and it is surprisingly light. It paired really well with black coffee. I have decided that this will be my go-to souvenir from now on.

Since I was young, an aunt living in Kanagawa has been sending me my favorite Bern's mille-feuille as a gift every year for Ochugen and Oseibo. When I was little, my family was more into senbei than sweet snacks, so it was a special treat for me. I received it from a colleague recently and had it for the first time in a long time. The packaging had changed and I didn't notice at first, but the taste brought back memories and when I looked it up, it was from the same shop. There are three flavors: sweet chocolate, hazelnut, and milk, each delicious in its own way. It was a nostalgic taste. It was delicious~

I received a box of "Jolicoeur" from Bern! When I think of Bern, I always think of mille-feuille, so I was expecting it to be mille-feuille until I opened it haha. The package looked different than usual, so I was curious to see what was inside. To my surprise, it was a set of adorable assorted baked goods called "Jolicoeur." It contains 7 colorful baked treats, totaling 11 pieces. Here are the ones I tried: - Linzer: Butter and cinnamon-nutmeg flavored with raspberry jam inside. - Three Cherries: Almond dough topped with cherry halves in syrup with a hint of cherry liqueur. - Florentine: Sliced almonds and cherries mixed with honey and whipped cream, sandwiched between two sablé cookies with rum chocolate. - Mint Frais: Almond dough with mint liqueur, filled with strawberry jam and pistachios. - Chocolat Orange: Almond cream-filled chocolate covered in orange jam. - Chocolat: Cocoa and almond powder combined in a financier with a crunchy almond topping. - Green Tea: A refreshing baked treat with a blend of matcha bitterness and milk sweetness. It has a light and clean taste. Thank you for the delicious treats!

I received three lemons as a souvenir because I couldn't decide, and the mille-feuille here is cheap but looks good, so it's great. I've been thinking about writing a review for too long, so I'll just post a photo without opening the comments section or notifying the timeline.

This is a review of a gift received - pie pastries created by Bern (BeRNE). This particular shape was first created and released in Japan in 1965. Milfeuille (11 pieces for 1080 yen) - Enjoyed at home during a coffee break. Tasted milk chocolate, sweet chocolate, and hazelnut chocolate varieties. The pastries consist of three layers of crispy pie with cream sandwiched in between and coated with chocolate. Each of the three varieties has a different cream and chocolate filling. Although they are all chocolate flavored, the hazelnut one might be the favorite. Overall, it was a delicious treat.
