I usually don't come to places like this, but I decided to take a drive to see the water level of the dam in the local Mountain God Dam area. As I parked my car in the observation park of the dam, I noticed a sign for udon noodles. I remembered that there used to be a kiln workshop at this location. I was curious to see what it was like, but I wondered if there were any customers at a place like this. I opened the door of the house-like restaurant and entered. A man in his late 60s, the owner, came out and greeted me. I took off my shoes, sat at a table, and looked at the menu. There were 5 types of noodles to choose from, and the toppings were up to you. I wasn't sure which one to choose, so I tried the owner's recommendation. I ordered the Tororo Udon for 800 yen. The noodles were a standard plain type. The owner went into the kitchen to prepare the dish while classical music played in the background. It was a CD called "Earth Symphony." It was a peaceful and soothing music. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to be served, but it was worth the wait. The large bowl contained a small amount of noodles, tororo (grated yam), mekabu (seaweed), chopped nori (seaweed), kaiware (daikon radish sprouts), okra, and cherry tomatoes. The noodles were warm and had a great texture. The slightly sweet soy sauce added to the flavor. It was a delicious meal that I savored slowly. It was so good that I wanted to try the large portion next time, but the menu didn't have the price for a large portion. While I was eating, the owner sat next to me and we had a nice conversation. He said he had learned to make noodles on his own, and he had truly mastered the art. The price of 800 yen may seem high, but the value was definitely there. I didn't regret spending that much. Sometimes, you have to treat yourself to such high-quality noodles. The owner kindly bid me farewell, and it felt like a warm send-off. It was a pleasant restaurant, and I felt like I could become friends with the owner.
