酒嫌いのタダめし記
March 2016 - Orange Cake filled with Summer Oranges for 324 yen
I had high hopes for this limited-time product, as good as the Peach Mousse I had previously tried. However, being a citrus cake, it didn't quite match up, not even close to the Peach Mousse. The product description states: "A mousse made with plenty of Setoka orange juice, combined with sweet and sour Summer oranges, a masterpiece filled with oranges. Only the flesh of the Summer oranges is used." It was refreshing with plenty of Summer oranges inside, and it was decently delicious. But, I still prefer the Peach Mousse.
August 2009 - The Illusive... Incredibly Delicious Limited-Time Sweets
I recently had a disappointing experience with a popular Sugar Butter Tree. It made me remember about the Peach Mousse, Club Harie, and others. Not everything that sells well is criticized, as I think Henri Charpentier, Tsumagari's baked sweets, and Harimaya's senbei are delicious. I usually find one cake enough if it's a regular size, but if I eat two, I feel sick. I love "whole banana," but I can only eat half. I have a separate stomach, and if I have room in my stomach, I think desserts after a meal are delicious. But if I'm full, baked sweets are not good, but fruits or jelly are fine. If I'm really hungry, I can eat two Western or Japanese sweets, but not more. So, people misunderstand me as not liking sweet things, but that's not true, I love them. I just can't handle too sweet or too much. Oh, the Sugar Butter Tree wasn't that sweet... However, my husband and kids love overly sweet things and always eat a lot of sweets, making us like the family in "Kyofu no Amai Mono Ikka" (You don't know if you're young). I suddenly remembered that there was a time when I ate "two sweets every day." I used to frequent Chateraise a lot. Cakes were usually in the 100-200 yen range, so it was unusual to have a product over 300 yen. I bought the Peach Mousse thinking, "It's rare, so it might be good." It was delicious. I was like, "What is this?!" The next day, I went to buy it again. It was so good. The day after that too. It was so good. From then on, I had my husband buy it for me every day, even buying all seven when there were only two left. I, who had never eaten more than 20, continued to eat two every day. It was only a matter of time before I got tired of it. ... The breakup came suddenly before I got tired of it. The sadness of limited-time products. I probably only tasted about 20. Thank you for the meal. If I had concluded that "expensive cakes at Chateraise are delicious," it would have been premature. The next limited-time cake over 300 yen that I tried was not that good. Oh, I want to eat it again. I was the only one in the family who was obsessed with it. I also remember a phantom cake I had as a child. Royal Host's "Hot Fudge Cake." A square cocoa dough with white ice cream sandwiched in between, topped with warm chocolate sauce. Looking back now, cold and warm sweets were rare at the time. It was in the 1980s when I was in elementary school. My father received a 10,000 yen meal voucher for Royal Host once or twice a year, so the children could order both a meal and dessert at that time. Actually, it was incredibly sweet, and it would have been just right to have half or two-thirds. But we ordered it every time for the special feeling. 10,000 yen at that time was probably expensive, and it was a dream-like luxurious memory. Oh, I want to eat it again. I wonder if I could ask Detective Night Scoop to make these two dishes for me.
