It was lucky that it was open on Sunday! Before work, I had the shaved ice that I had wanted to eat for a long time. I had the Milk Kinshi Uji for 580 yen. The red beans were delicious! There were plenty of red beans inside. While milk and Uji were common, the abundance of red beans was very satisfying. They said shaved ice will be available until the end of this month. I would like to have zenzai or ozoni in the winter. ^_^

While thinking "oh, what a relief" as I entered the store, I was immediately drawn to the shaved ice. Due to the heat, I decided to order one. Before long, a matcha shaved ice with red beans arrived. Honestly, the red beans were amazing! As I continued to eat, I found anko inside, which made me happy! Despite how delicious it was, I was a bit disappointed with the matcha syrup. I recalled the authentic matcha with milk and shiratama from Kyoto, and that was what was lacking! However, considering the quality of the shaved ice, priced at 1,000 yen elsewhere, this store's 550 yen price seemed reasonable. Nevertheless, I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

I sometimes visit this place. It's right in front of Ohashi Station and I like the atmosphere. This time, I bought an an-donut for 120 yen and a fu-manju for 160 yen. The an-donut with crunchy sugar is delicious. The fu-manju is bite-sized and tasty. I think it's a bit expensive, but I will visit again!

As soon as you get off at Nishitetsu Ohashi Station, you will find a traditional Japanese confectionery shop on the corner. The prices are very reasonable, and they offer simple and rustic sweets. I tried their sakura mochi, and even though the size of the grains felt a bit odd, it was delicious! It had a gentle sweetness and a taste of sakura leaves, similar to the famous sakura mochi shops in Kyoto. My favorite item here is the ozenzai, which can be a bit difficult to open because the container is a bit hot, but inside you'll find delicious mochi and perfectly cooked azuki beans. The sweetness and amount of beans can vary depending on your preference, but the mochi always tastes delicious no matter when you eat it. I saw people ordering mochi for the New Year, and it was clear that this shop is loved by the locals. It's a nostalgic and warm shop from the Showa era. Thank you for the delicious treats.

This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located in front of Ohashi Station. After dining at Leilia Ohashi, I stopped by this shop on my way home to buy some Japanese sweets. The shop has a cozy cafe area, and the display case at the entrance is filled with colorful traditional Japanese sweets. I bought five different sweets to enjoy at home. They were: Fu Manju for 130 yen, Ohagi for 95 yen, Kinako Ohagi for 100 yen, Chestnut Daifuku for 150 yen, and Matcha Daifuku for 120 yen. The shop is conveniently located right in front of Ohashi Station East Exit. At the end of summer, my partner wanted to eat shaved ice, so we went to this place. The prices are reasonable compared to other shops, but it seems like they have increased a bit. I'm not a big fan of shaved ice because it gives me brain freeze quickly, so I tried the shaved ice with sweet red beans. They put less ice in it, so it didn't give me a strong brain freeze. Time flies, and summer is passing by.

It was towards the end of May when I visited a place called "Zouni" located near Ohashi Station East Exit. As soon as I entered, I saw a showcase of traditional Japanese sweets. Towards the back on the left side was a cafe area. It was before noon on a weekday, and a local elderly man was enjoying a bowl of Zouni while reading the newspaper. I decided to try the Zouni set, which included mochi, chicken, shiitake mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, and fish cake in a unique broth typical of Hakata Zouni. The mochi was homemade and very chewy and delicious. The bowl was small but filling due to the substantial mochi. The dish was garnished with Chinese cabbage, mitsuba, and fish cake, although it would have been perfect with bonito flakes. The visit was in late May, and bonito flakes are in season until January, so I couldn't be too picky. Even without bonito flakes, the Zouni was delicious. The sweet red rice was cooked to perfection and served with sesame salt on the side. For an additional 100 yen, you could enjoy the tasty red rice made by the professionals. The elderly man's satisfaction was evident. At the counter, I noticed various traditional Japanese sweets priced around 100 yen each, including white mochi.

There is a Japanese sweets shop in front of Nishitetsu Ohashi Station. I decided to go in because the strawberry daifuku was surprisingly cheap. Nowadays, it's hard to believe that strawberry daifuku is only 150 yen and sakura mochi is 90 yen! The taste was very elegant and delicious. It seems like you can also eat in the shop.

Working in Ohashi. Heading towards the east exit of Nishitetsu Ohashi Station. There was a shop near the station called "Okina-do". The sign for "Strawberry Daifuku" caught my attention. Somehow my sixth sense whispered to me that it was a delicious shop. During work in Ohashi, I made a call to the workplace. I asked about the number of people working today and got a prompt reply, "The whole team is present. Thank you!" (They are currently using staggered work shifts for COVID prevention.) Just asking about the number of people working... After finishing work (and lunch) safely, I decided to stop by before returning to the workplace. The shop, with a white noren curtain, had a traditional Japanese confectionery store vibe. There were tables and chairs on the left side of the store, allowing for eating in. There was also a signboard for "Zoni", so you could have a proper meal in addition to sweets. I chose the "Strawberry Daifuku (@150 yen each, tax included)" from the various sweets displayed in the showcase. I purchased enough for everyone and returned to the workplace. We enjoyed it as a snack at 3 o'clock. The daifuku was packed in a transparent food pack. It was dusted with potato starch on the outside, giving it a simple appearance more like mochi than daifuku at first glance. When you bite into it, it has a truly chewy texture. The red bean paste inside was elegantly sweet without being too heavy, with a strawberry in the center. I didn't say anything and just distributed it at the workplace, so the excitement when they found out it was Strawberry Daifuku was beyond what I expected. (laughs) Everyone seemed to enjoy it and asked where I bought it. It was well received. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I went to "Okina-Do"!! It is a long-established Japanese confectionery store in front of Ohashi Station. You can buy reasonably priced traditional Japanese sweets of just the right size. All of them are handmade Japanese sweets with comforting flavors, but the recommended item is the summer limited shaved ice. When it gets hot, there are times when I visit once a week, and it has become a summer tradition in recent years. There is a cafe space inside, so please stop by to try the fluffy shaved ice with plenty of red beans or the Uji-Kintoki milk syrup, or the strawberry milk syrup.

It was a backdate, but the chestnut daifuku (I think it was 140 yen) had a whole chestnut inside. I thought it would be nice to have another step to wrap it in daifuku. Strawberry daifuku is the best.

I have been buying mochi for New Year's here for the past few years. I make a reservation at the end of the year and pick it up on the morning of the 31st. The mochi is delicious, but the anko mochi is a seasonal product that is also delicious. I was able to start 2016 with a delicious ozoni. In August 2015, I visited again. Half of the shop is a cafe corner. It has been a while since I had shaved ice during the summer season. The shaved ice here is a bit coarse, just like the nostalgic Showa era shaved ice. The strawberry shaved ice for 350 yen is exactly like a blast from the past. So nostalgic. The Uji sweet potato shaved ice is 450 yen. Fluffy Taiwanese-style shaved ice is nice, but there's something special about the traditional shaved ice with a firm texture. A man came in and ordered cold jelly and coffee. Very cool. This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop in front of Ohashi Station. I have been getting their strawberry daifuku every year, but it seems like the maker has changed recently. The mochi used to be a bit thicker, with more anko, and it seems like they have gotten smaller. However, compared to other shops, the prices are reasonable. When I have their strawberry daifuku or sakura mochi, I feel like spring is just around the corner, but in reality, it's still cold. Another delicious meal today!

I had some errands nearby and was drawn to this shop's "shaved ice" flag, so I decided to go in. It looked like a traditional Japanese confectionery shop, with delicious looking steamed buns lined up. There was seating inside where I ordered the classic "strawberry milk" shaved ice. It was a hot day outside, so it was so refreshing. The ice was not too crunchy, just fluffy enough. The syrup was the old-fashioned kind, which brought back nostalgic memories. It was delicious. Compared to when I was a child, the price seems to have gone up... It cost 420 yen.

I found a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called Okinado right near Ohashi Station. I was surprised to see a tea room inside the shop, so I decided to check it out. They had various Japanese sweets priced around 100 yen, including small-sized daifuku. I decided to have a tea set, and chose the matcha daifuku. The matcha daifuku paired perfectly with the Japanese tea, and it was delicious. The tea was refillable with second-grade tea.

I stopped by a local Japanese confectionery shop called "Okina-do" located next to Cocoichi, right outside the east exit of Nishitetsu Ohashi Station. I had been curious about this shop while enjoying the Ohashi gourmet, but I always ended up choosing Western sweets or bagels over Japanese confectionery. However, this time, as I am on a short-term diet, I convinced myself that Japanese confectionery would be okay, so I decided to try some. The shop offers a variety of Japanese sweets and also has a cafe space named "Shiki." I purchased two strawberry daifuku, one uguisu (nightingale) sweet, and one matcha daifuku, totaling 415 yen, which was surprisingly affordable for four items. The shop makes the sweets on-site and sells them directly, which keeps the prices reasonable. They have a wide range of Japanese and Western sweets, with prices starting from 70 yen. I enjoyed the sweets at home with green tea. The strawberry daifuku had a fluffy texture with a small strawberry inside, balanced with sweet red bean paste and a hint of sourness from the strawberry. The matcha daifuku had a nice combination of matcha bitterness and sweet red bean paste. I only had a bite of the uguisu sweet, but it was filled with plenty of sweet red bean paste and paired well with the soft dough. Considering the price, it's worth trying various sweets even if you're not a big fan of Japanese confectionery. The cafe space is also inviting for tea time, and I'm curious about their nostalgic-tasting Western sweets. Overall, it was a delightful experience!
