- Genre: Japanese sweets, Western sweets - Area: Sakae-cho, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City - Access: 5 minutes walk from JR Moji Port Station - Parking: None (coin parking available nearby) - Credit card payment: Not available - Frequency of use: Multiple times - Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I casually visited "Koganeido Moji Port Store." - Exterior and Interior: Located near a shopping street in Sakae-cho, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, this traditional Japanese sweets shop has been in business for over 100 years. The shop is small, but it is filled with a variety of Japanese and Western sweets. - Seating: Takeout only. - Menu: They offer a variety of Japanese and Western sweets in different sizes, suitable for individual servings. I ordered the following: - Dorayaki (140 yen) → excluding tax. The fluffy dough has a slightly sticky texture when held directly by hand, reminiscent of the traditional taste. The red bean paste inside is smooth. As a local resident, the familiar sweetness brings back nostalgic memories. - Strong Points: Consistent taste from a long-established shop. - Service: Average. In conclusion, I decided to stop by for some Japanese sweets, but unfortunately, my favorite Gion Taiko was taken by my wife... Even though I ordered matcha, I couldn't fully enjoy it! Thank you for the meal.

Eichocho, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City. A traditional Japanese confectionery store operated by Kogetsudo Co., Ltd. Kogetsudo is often found as a tenant in the Sanriku Group. The Moji Port store is an independent location, not a tenant. Kogetsudo is known for their chestnut manju and Gion Taiko, among other popular items like baumkuchen, castella, marubouro, dorayaki, and hitokuchi yokan. Some stores also sell cakes. This time, I purchased the Castella Cut (¥650 before tax). The Castella Cut comes with 5 pieces of sliced castella. The castella has a strong egg flavor, is moist, sweet, and delicious. They also sell whole castella. There are only two Kogetsudo stores in Moji-ku, Marushoku Nishi Moji Store and Moji Port Store. I have completed visiting both of them. Well, there are only two stores, so there are only two stores. Thank you for the meal.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Moji Port Station, near the entrance to Sakaemachi Ginza, is a traditional Japanese sweets shop. While their chestnut bun is famous, I decided to try the Gion Taiko (sweet bean paste) for 140 yen. It consists of sweet bean paste sandwiched between pie crust. The taste is slightly sweet with a strong buttery aroma. I think it's just the right flavor for a tired body.

I was drawn to the name "合馬のたけのこ" and decided to buy it. When I got home and looked at it, the package said "たけのこ(桃山)". I wonder what "桃山" means. The taste of the bamboo shoot from Goma was just like a regular Japanese sweet, despite the interesting name. It's no surprise. The setting of "New Battles Without Honor and Humanity: The Boss's Head" was in Moji.

A long-established Japanese confectionery shop that is perfect for both home use and souvenirs. It seems to have been founded since the Meiji era. This time, I tried the classic chestnut steamed bun (large) for 200 yen, and my personal favorite, the chestnut for 230 yen. There are two types of chestnuts available, both using large chestnuts and satisfying sweets. I also discovered a new item, chestnut financiers for 200 yen. Although it is an old shop, I admire their willingness to incorporate new Western sweets. You can expect more from this shop in the future! Why not consider it as a souvenir next time? Lastly, even though it was raining a bit, the staff kindly covered the paper bag with plastic. I am grateful for their thoughtfulness!

I visited Moji Port Retro. The shopping street is quite deserted with many closed shutters, but I found a delicious bakery that seems to be doing well. I tried a dorayaki at a nearby shop called Kogetsudo for 140 yen including tax. It had white bean paste and chunky red bean paste. The size was decent, the skin was moist, and the filling had a good balance of sweetness. Later, I found out that Kogetsudo (and Bunmeido) have many branches. It seems to be quite popular. Overall, it was a satisfying experience. Thank you for the meal!

Kotsukedo, a Japanese confectionery shop in Kitakyushu City, is located close to JR Moji Port Station. The shop is of a decent size and offers a good variety of products. It is open from 9:00 to 18:00. One of their specialties is the Chestnut Financier, a type of confectionery they offer. It is a dome-shaped financier (strictly speaking, not a bar shape, so it's not a financier) with a single chestnut inside. It truly lives up to its name as "Chestnut Financier". You can enjoy the rich flavor of buttery dough along with the chewy texture of chestnut at the same time.
