I visited the store on Saturday afternoon. The cut-off castella cake costs 324 yen. The "mottainai" castella cake in coffee flavor costs 432 yen. It's cheap. However, since it is compressed, it lacks the fluffy texture. Considering the cost performance, it is sufficient. I think it's also good to take it as a souvenir.

I came here looking for Crystal Bonbon~ The sweet scent is filling the air ^o^ There was a shop right in front of the Castella factory, but unfortunately, they were sold out~ \(//∇//)\ It's a shame, and there's no definite restock date \(//∇//)\ Since there's a seating area, I'll have some tea here ^o^ ● Restoration Castella Set 770 yen with a drink^o^ I ordered an iced coffee. The texture is good with a nice melt-in-your-mouth sweetness. It's a moist type of Castella that doesn't take away the moisture in your mouth. It's nice to have a little break, isn't it^o^ I asked how to get my hands on it, and they said the main store that carries it is in Shinsaibashi, so if they have stock, you can buy it there. When I inquired about the stock and asked if they could hold it for me, it turns out they have stock and can reserve it, so I decided to go to Shinsaibashi GO‼️ They said you can buy up to two per person^o^ Thank you for the meal~ The edges of Castella are delicious, aren't they~ They also sold Castella that is about to expire~^o^ Nagasaki-do Sumiyoshi Store 06-6697-0551 Osaka, Osaka, Sumiyoshi-ku, Sugimoto 2-5-12 https://tabelog.com/osaka/A2701/A270404/27044723/

Kyoto sweets, but made in Nagasaki, what should this sweet be called? It's a bit of a mystery and unfortunate. I received it, but who gave it to me? Was it a guest from Osaka? People come from all over, but it's rare to see someone from beyond Tokai, right? Is it Ichikawa Raizo? Tamura Masakazu? Omura Kon? I can't think of a current actor who would suit this. Is it soft? When I thought that, it turned out to be hard. Is it hard? When I thought that and tried it, my teeth were fine. Just a little salt, a nice touch. It was delicious.

It was a gift. The dorayaki had a soft outer layer and a sticky red bean paste filling, very delicious. The Western-style senbei was crispy with a good buttery flavor, truly a Western-style senbei. The castella, a local specialty, had a great flavor and was well-made. Thank you for the meal!

I went to the shop after seeing the reviews from the reviewers! I knew about the existence of the shop, but it was my first time going in. I bought some special price items, which were really a great deal (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) I had Castella cake for the first time in a while. It was not as sweet as I expected and it was delicious. "Thank you for the meal ☺︎"

My mother's favorite restaurant. She has been going there about once a week recently, probably because her son said he could eat cocoa pudding there. When she first saw the cocoa pudding, she joked that feeding cat food to her son would be cruel. I couldn't help but burst out laughing at her deadpan humor. The Osaka Retro Cafe Dora offers this red bean butter dorayaki. I had been avoiding red bean butter because I didn't understand its appeal, but this one is really delicious. The butter is in the middle. My son, who loves sweet potatoes, would be delighted with the sweet potato dessert. We never run out of treats like castella or castella rusks.

Until January 31st, there is a Thanksgiving event going on. All items in the store are 20% off. Gift items have free shipping. There are also many items that are half price. My mother likes their castella, so I went to buy some. They have a special pack with dorayaki, waffles, and mizu yokan for only 1000 yen. It's a great deal. They also have cocoa pudding and other items at about half price. It was a really good deal.

I often use this place for home use or as a gift, but the eat-in service, which had been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, has been revived. I received a set of restored castella and black tea. The castella here is firm and has a solid texture. It is sweet and delicious. It's nice that there are products that can only be purchased at this store and the main store, and not available online. Also, there are gift sets in cedar boxes, and the castella in a wooden box is a surprise! I recommend it because it will impress others.

▼Location▼ Located 120m north of the intersection in the middle of Osaka City University on Route 42, on the right side. ▼About the Shop▼ Nagasaki-do Founded as a castella shop in Nagasaki in 1919, it moved to Osaka in 1924. The current main store in Shinsaibashi opened in 1951 and has since become a popular chain of castella shops rooted in Osaka. This Sumiyoshi branch is a branch with a cafe attached, with a factory nearby. ▼Menu▼ They sell various sweets such as castella, castella rusks, and mikasa. In the cafe, there are sets with drinks such as coffee and castella. ▼What I Ate▼ ▽Castella Kirehashi 324 yen▽ (April 2021) As the name suggests, it is a pack of castella cut ends. The cut ends are alternately packed in the container. The castella has a moderate moistness and a pleasantly sweet taste with a hint of granulated sugar. Despite being cut ends, it is quite delicious and a subtly good castella. ▼Impressions▼ (April 2021) A popular castella shop in Osaka's Shinsaibashi, which supplies to stores like Aeon nationwide. The shop, founded in Nagasaki in 1919, moved to Osaka in 1924 and opened its current main store in Shinsaibashi in 1951, where it remains today. This Sumiyoshi branch is located across from the factory and serves as a branch with a cafe section. This time, I purchased the Castella Kirehashi mentioned above. Despite being cut ends, it is a delicious item with a subtle taste. I am satisfied with the delicious taste of the castella. I would like to try the authentic castella next time instead of the cut ends if I have the opportunity.

I wanted to buy some cheap castella cake scraps that I had heard about, but they weren't being sold. So, I ended up buying a regular long castella cake for 500 yen (tax included). It had pre-cut slices, which was convenient. The taste was just like traditional castella cake, with the slightly crunchy texture of sugar as you eat it. It was delicious.

I went to this eat-in place that we used to have tea at in the past, and it brought back nostalgic memories. I was hoping to get some freshly made dorayaki, but unfortunately, they were already done baking for the day. Too bad. The freshly baked dorayaki has a fluffy texture and is delicious, so maybe next time. I got some discounted end pieces of castella for a snack. Also got some rusk and dorayaki. My son was pleased with his snacks. Added a photo of the castella snack for my son.

I have visited this place many times. Unlike the luxurious main store in Shinsaibashi, the Sumiyoshi store is casual enough to wear your Uniqlo Ultra Down jacket. I always buy the "Kirehashi Castella" here, nothing else. It's a souvenir for my daughter's house, but who cares about Kirehashi... I bought the plain and matcha flavors because they are affordable. They are rich in egg flavor and have just the right amount of sweetness. I hope to try eating in someday. I want to spend a leisurely time with coffee.

I bought some Osaka specialty sweets at Nagasaki-Do. The Vahel Butter cookie sandwich is unique with its overflowing dough and smooth, heavy butter filling. The round shape of the dough is inspired by Japanese senbei crackers. It's a popular product from Nagasaki-Do that combines a longing for the West with romance. The Custard Pudding in a can is a rare find! Chill it, pour caramel sauce over it, and enjoy. The pudding is firm and surprising!

In the residential street, next to the parking lot, there is a shop with the scent of castella, where you can also enjoy a café inside.

On the way to Nishi-Kasai Station, I caught a whiff of delicious castella and found a factory with a white sign. When I searched for a direct sales store, I found a refreshing tea shop called Aotake across the street. There was a parking lot, so my husband and I went there. Besides castella, they also had manju and dorayaki. There were many varieties of castella, such as black sugar and matcha, which made choosing fun. We really liked the castella rusk and ended up buying a lot. The staff at the store were kind and said that you can enjoy freshly baked dorayaki in the morning. I would like to go back to buy more rusk and castella.

Next to a factory where the sweet aroma of castella cakes wafts through the air, there is an elegant retail store and café. Since there are no menus displayed outside, it may be a bit unclear whether it's okay to enter or what kind of establishment it is. While waiting for my gift set to be wrapped, I also decided to use the café. I chose the "Restored Castella Set" (756 yen), made with rich eggs and top-grade sugar. Surprisingly, it was not overly sweet, with a dense egg aroma. It's completely different from castella cakes that use artificial flavors to mask the taste. The texture is chewy, similar to steamed bread. I also chose a matcha-infused genmaicha to drink, which was delicious as well. Since it's not a busy area, it's quiet and relaxing, which is nice. The service is polite and friendly. Additionally, it seems that customers who only purchase items to take home are also treated to a complimentary slice of castella and tea.

On a weekday afternoon, feeling the spring breeze but still feeling a bit chilly when the wind blows, I decided to visit Nagasaki-Do, which has gained popularity with its Crystal Bonbons. I went there and found a fairly large parking lot in front. Currently, it seems that it takes over a month to get the Crystal Bonbons. There are three sets available, including the Castella Set for 756 yen. This time, I tried the Castella Set. Unfortunately, I visited on a Wednesday when the factory was closed, so I couldn't taste the freshly baked ones, and the Castella was a bit dry. The coffee in the set was a mild and easy-to-drink coffee.

"Nagasaki-do's Castella" is actually made in Osaka. I found out when I visited the factory nearby. Surprisingly, the headquarters is also in Osaka, with no branch in Nagasaki. Nationally, I think Bunmeido is more famous, but it seems they have their headquarters in Nagasaki. It's a bit confusing. The shop is located right in front of the factory, inside a calm and cozy building with a sales corner and a cafe section. The menu for eat-in is not displayed outside, so when you enter and tell the staff you want coffee, they will guide you to the cafe section which takes up about half of the store's floor space. Since there were no other customers, I was able to choose where to sit (a seat with a view of the entire store). When seated, they will give you a menu along with a glass of water and a paper towel. They don't offer just coffee, but various sets with traditional Japanese sweets. I chose the Castella set. The coffee and Castella were served on a wooden plate with a Japanese touch. The coffee cup was placed on a square cloth that looked like a cushion. It had a stylish appearance. The Castella tasted just like I remembered, with a basic flavor that surprisingly paired well with the coffee. The bitterness of the coffee enhanced the sweetness of the Castella, and vice versa. While enjoying my meal, I noticed that customers who only came to shop were served tea and a small snack, giving off a traditional Japanese sweet shop vibe. It was a delightful experience. Thank you for the meal. Castella A traditional Japanese confectionery that developed independently in Japan based on Nanban confectionery brought from Portugal. There is no confectionery called "Castella" in Portugal, and the prototype confectionery is different in appearance and production method from Castella. Castella in Japan is considered to have originated in Nagasaki, and the "Nagasaki Castella" is said to have originated from Fukusaya in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. It is not a specialty of Nagasaki Prefecture, but a general term for confectioneries made with the same method. It is poured into a large square or rectangular mold, baked in an oven, and then cut into stick shapes. It has a moist texture due to the use of water candy. There are many variations that add milk, matcha, brown sugar, chocolate, cheese, and other flavorings.

I found this place by chance near Mr. Cavolo on my way back after eating champon in Sumiyoshi-ku. There is a big factory and a store in front of it. They also have an eat-in corner. I looked around the store and found some castella cake slices at a reasonable price of 320 yen each. It's similar to the silver castella factory in Takashi, where you can buy freshly baked castella at a store in front of the factory. The castella here is authentic with zaramé (caramelized sugar) and very delicious. It's a great choice for a familiar gift. Unlike bread, the edges are not hard, which is nice. I'm satisfied with these castella cake slices. Thank you for the meal!
