The other day, after attending the Fukuoka Bordeaux Wine Festival in Tenjin, my wife and I met up with our third grade daughter and walked to Hakata Station. We decided to have dinner, so we went to "Kashiwaya Genjiro Hakata City" in Kuuten. I had already been there once about six months ago. While my family ordered dishes like oyakodon and oyakoju, I decided to have a snack with a glass of beer since I had already been drinking wine. I ordered the fried chicken thighs (2 pieces for 200 yen) and the grilled local chicken (800 yen). I also ordered a glass of beer (550 yen). The grilled local chicken, as shown in the photo, was served with grated daikon radish with chili pepper on top. I added ponzu sauce and tried it with the chicken. It was really delicious. There was also yuzu pepper on the side, which I also tried. Of course, it was a perfect match. The beer went down smoothly. The oyakoju I had tried before was also delicious, but the night's casual drinking and dining experience was quite enjoyable.

At first, I was considering visiting the main branch of a famous chain of tonkotsu ramen in Daimyo, but the on-and-off rain made me reluctant to go out for dinner exploration. So, I searched for a restaurant near Hakata Station, close to my hotel, and ended up visiting here. It seems to be a chicken-focused restaurant, so I ordered the Genjiro set with grilled local chicken on top of rice. It was served in 7-8 minutes. The egg was fluffy, and the chicken had a rich flavor. The grilled chicken was served in 2-3 minutes. I was completely satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

There was no "Welcome" and when I called a staff member, there was no response. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Instead of focusing on the taste, they should first work on improving their attitude. Also, many items on the menu looked different from the pictures, but well, that's to be expected.

I crossed over to Yoshizuka to accompany my daughter for the procedure of vacating her apartment (graduation!). After a relatively easy conversation, we decided to have lunch before I send her to work. When asked where she wanted to go, she replied, "Don't you have any recommendations?" I thought for a moment and suggested, "How about going to Hakata Station?" She agreed, and we headed to Hakata Station. As we wandered around, she expressed her desire to try "Kuuten." We went to the 9th floor and chose "Kashiwaya Genjiro" for our meal. While waiting, we discussed her upcoming graduation and work. When the food arrived, the soup was a bit lacking despite the extra charge. The egg in the dish was appetizing, but the overall taste of the dish was disappointing. We struggled through the meal, and despite my suggestion to not force herself to finish it, my daughter insisted on eating every bite. It was a learning experience, and I realized that I should have done more research before choosing the restaurant.

I have been restricting my calorie intake recently, so I have been looking for high protein, low fat options for eating out. I thought of oyakodon and decided to go to Kashiwa-ya Genjiro in Kuuten. They also had a menu with fried chicken, but I managed to resist and ordered just the oyakodon. The egg was fluffy and delicious.

I found a chicken dish and oyakodon specialty store on the 9th floor of Hakata Station (JR Hakata City Amu Plaza) that offers takeout menus. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and the taste is decent. The chicken meat was a bit tough, but I was told it's because they use parent birds. It's recommended for those who want to buy dinner before boarding the Shinkansen. Next time, I would like to try the chicken minced bowl. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant alone on Saturday before 8:00 PM. I arrived right in the middle of the busy time and had to wait for about 30 minutes. Once seated at the counter, I placed my order without even looking at the menu. The dishes other than the grilled chicken were served in about 5 minutes. The grilled chicken was served a minute later. The chicken bone soup was thick and delicious as always. I'm sure the hot pot here is also absolutely delicious. However, I ordered my usual chicken and egg bowl and grilled chicken. The grilled chicken today had a strong salty taste to the point where the yuzu pepper provided was unnecessary. The chicken and egg bowl was as delicious as ever. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The rice was slightly firm to match the semi-cooked egg, onions, and chives on top of the bowl. It's really a blessing to have this quality at this price at this time in Hakata Station. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely visit again.

Located on the 9th floor of Amu Plaza Hakata, on the Hakata side of Hakata Station, this restaurant offers counter and table seating, as well as some seats with a view of Hakata city through the window. The menu includes reasonably priced set meals and Mizutaki (chicken hot pot). The Tamago-don (egg bowl) is 650 yen, and Mizutaki is 1600 yen per person. I ordered the Lunch Passport's Oyako-don (parent and child bowl) and grilled local chicken set for 1000 yen, with an extra 100 yen for extra rice. The Oyako-don in the lunch box was filled with fluffy eggs, and the chicken was delicious. The local chicken was also flavorful and tasty.

I had lunch at the station building in Hakata. I decided to come here because the menu looked delicious. There was quite a wait, but the turnover was fast and we were able to get in without waiting too long. The oyakodon had a creamy egg topping that was so delicious it almost felt like a drink. It was really tasty, so I definitely want to come back again!

This morning, I found a ladybug in the garden. It was walking around on a leaf with nothing on it, sometimes staying still without moving. It seemed to have been perched on this branch for about two hours. Before heading to the JR Hakata City for the Star Live "Collaboration Only Tonight" concert starting at 6 p.m., I had an early dinner at the restaurant floor "Kuuten" in the Hakata City. Despite the odd time, "Kashiwa-ya Genjiro" was fully booked. I'm glad I made a reservation just in case. I could see the kitchen from outside the restaurant. Most customers were ordering the parent and child rice bowl. I ordered the Genjiro set, which comes with small dishes, thickly grilled egg, and grilled local chicken. The egg was fluffy and creamy. The grilled local chicken was fragrant and paired well with yuzu pepper. Another dish was the Mizutaki hot pot. This restaurant offers a menu called "Hakata Mizutaki Set" that can be ordered per person. The chicken was juicy and tender. It was delicious on its own or dipped in ponzu sauce. The soup was thick and rich, warming me up from the inside. I received my membership card for the Star Live fan club, FLAPPERCLUB. The newsletter was quite interesting and enjoyable to read. I look forward to finding the opportunity to attend a Star Live concert. I have one more thing to look forward to.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. It was empty when they first opened, but it got full as lunchtime approached. I ordered the Oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl). The eggs were fluffy but cooked through, not runny at all, giving the impression that the dish was cooked well. The flavor of the chicken broth was really strong. The dish was almost swimming in sauce, with the rice completely soaked through. The taste was a bit on the salty side, so I think I would prefer it a bit milder. The fluffy texture of the eggs was really good, and it made for a nice lunch.

I went to watch Shin Kamen Rider at the movie theater on the 9th floor of Hakata Station Building, and then my friend and I headed to "Kashiwa-ya Genjiro" on the same floor around 5:45 pm on Saturday. This floor offers a discount of 50 yen per person if you have a movie ticket stub. Additionally, my local friend had a lunch passport for 1,012 yen, so we were able to get the parent and child chicken seared set for 1,000 yen instead of 1,400 yen, which was a great deal. The restaurant was popular, so we had to wait in line for about 30 minutes before finally being seated in the bright and beautiful interior. My friend ordered the lunch passport deal, while I ordered the parent chicken bowl with miso soup for 880 yen, added the Genjiro set for 750 yen, and upgraded the miso soup to the famous chicken soup for an additional 100 yen. The food arrived after 15 minutes, and we enjoyed the delicious parent chicken bowl, rich chicken soup, flavorful side dishes, and juicy seared chicken. We left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. I highly recommend "Kashiwa-ya Genjiro" for its quality and delicious parent chicken bowl and the great deals with movie ticket stubs and lunch passports.

There is a parent and child rice bowl shop at Hakata Station!! I came back for revenge because I couldn't go last time due to the long line!! I ordered the Genjiro set with additional fried chicken. The parent and child rice bowl, hmm... the seasoning was not to my liking, but the parent chicken was delicious! The rolled omelette was cold... should have been grilled... The fried chicken was dry and rough... The charcoal-grilled dish was also dry and unimpressive... Did they just serve me pre-made dishes? Honestly, very disappointing.

Final day of stay in Fukuoka. Still have some travel support coupons left to use, so searched for a restaurant. Craving for Hakata-style Mizutaki, found two restaurants in Hakata Station building that are open all day. Chose the one with a wide variety of side dishes. Entered the restaurant around 4 pm on a weekday. It was empty and quiet, but the background music was hard rock, not quite the mood for Mizutaki. The staff recommended Oyakodon, so I decided on Mizutaki with Oyakodon. Opted for the special Mizutaki course which includes various chicken dishes. Soon the dishes started arriving, and then the staff casually said, "We're out of chicken skin with ponzu sauce today, so it will be replaced with kinpira." Huh? A light kinpira as a substitute for a chicken-centric course? Shouldn't they have mentioned this when ordering? Is there no option to add another piece of the meager fried chicken (see photo)? Are they only catering to tourists using Hakata Station with no intention of repeat customers? It's been a while since I felt this angry during a meal outside. Started eating to finish quickly. Thought Hakata Mizutaki always came with yuzu pepper, but here they only had shichimi. Not sure if it's the restaurant's specialty or they just substituted shichimi for yuzu pepper like they did with kinpira. Some chicken dishes are labeled as brand chicken, but at this restaurant, it feels suspicious. Back to the main topic, the Mizutaki was decently tasty. The seared chicken, fried chicken, thick omelet, and kinpira as a substitute for chicken skin with ponzu were not bad, but eating in an unhappy state made the taste feel halved. The runny egg in the Oyakodon was decent, but just like with unagi-don, I realized it's hard to eat the rice in the corners of the bento box. Remembered a famous foodie saying that unagi is better in a bowl than in a box. Lastly, chose udon as the finishing touch for the Mizutaki, which took 5 minutes to arrive. Did they make the udon noodles from scratch? Ended up making a big miss on my last meal in Fukuoka.

It's been a while since I had a solo lunch at Hakata Station. I've bought bento boxes from here before, but this was my first time eating in. The prices were reasonable, so even though it was raining, there were quite a few customers. I ordered the Chicken Nanban set for 1,050 yen and changed the miso soup to chicken soup for an extra 100 yen. I always feel a bit guilty when my solo lunch goes over 1,000 yen... The chicken soup was rich and tasted like it was made from chicken bones. It would make a delicious chicken ramen if noodles were added. The Chicken Nanban was decent, but it doesn't quite compare to the original in Miyazaki. There are sister stores as well, so I'm curious to try them out.

Parent-child dish 880 yen (tax included), just the right amount for women (*´∀`)♪ The meat is from the parent bird, so it's a bit tough, which might make it difficult for elderly people and children to eat! Personally, I prefer the chick to the parent bird, but there's no menu for chicks, haha.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant, but I decided to try it because I had a delicious bento from a different shop last time and ate it on the Shinkansen train. I ordered the parent-child rice bowl and the Miyazaki-style charcoal-grilled chicken set. The parent-child rice bowl was good with the soft egg, but the taste was just average. It didn't quite reach the level of being impressive considering the high quality of restaurants these days. The Miyazaki-style charcoal-grilled chicken was cooked well with a nice charcoal flavor, and you could enjoy different parts like the thigh and breast. The grilling was tasty, but the chicken itself was a bit lacking. I understand that you can't expect local chicken at this price point, but compared to Fukuoka's chicken, it felt a bit underwhelming. However, it was nice to have a variety of options to try. Thank you for the meal!

Ordered the parent-child oyakodon set. You can choose various options for the parent-child dish. For the chicken, you can choose between parent bird or chick, for the broth you can choose between chicken broth, bonito broth, or light, for the rice portion you can choose between large, regular, or small, and for the soup you can choose between miso soup or chicken soup. I ordered the parent bird with chicken broth, regular portion, and chicken soup. My husband ordered the chick for comparison. The parent bird had a good texture while the chick was tender, both were delicious. The food was tasty, but despite it being the first turn of the day, there was garbage like straw wrappers accumulating on the edge of the table, which was a bit disappointing considering the good service. (2022.09.30) I returned to Fukuoka before 13:00, still during the busy hours, but I headed to the restaurant zone "Kuuten" on the upper floor of Amu Plaza Hakata adjacent to Hakata Station. Drawn to the parent and child rice bowl displayed on the digital signage at the storefront, I chose "Kashiwa-ya Genjiro" from about 40 shops. While they also offer individual servings such as "sukiyaki" and "grilled local chicken," the main attraction seems to be the "parent and child rice bowl." You can even watch the parent and child rice bowl being made in the glass-walled kitchen next to the entrance. There are premium parent and child rice bowls made from "Satsuma Wakadori," which is a national natural monument and one of Japan's three major local chicken breeds, but this time I opted for a more affordable option without a specific brand, with extra meat in the (upper) portion. I was surprised to be able to choose between "parent chicken" and "chick chicken," as well as between "chicken broth," "bonito broth," and "lightly seasoned bonito broth with reduced salt soy sauce" for the broth. I decided to go with parent chicken and chicken broth, regular rice portion, and chicken soup. The parent and child rice bowl served had a rich and velvety egg and broth, with a chewy texture from the parent chicken, and a superb umami flavor throughout the rice from the chicken broth. With 36 possible variations for just the parent and child rice bowl alone, it's amazing to think about how complex the cooking process must be.

Now, it's finally the last day of the business trip. I just have to go back, but I still want to eat something delicious before leaving. I looked up a restaurant and decided to visit it because the parent and child rice bowl looked delicious. Even though it was just past 11 o'clock and the restaurant had just opened, there were already a few customers inside. I'm glad I came early. I sat at the counter seat. I ordered the Parent and Child Rice Bowl Genjiro Set (2,050 yen) and a draft beer (550 yen). Since work was done, let's have a drink during the day. The cold beer in a frosted mug is so nice, especially on a hot day like this in Fukuoka. The dishes are ready. In addition to the main parent and child rice bowl, there were thick rolled omelet, grilled local chicken, and a side dish set. I also had the option to choose miso soup or chicken soup, so I chose the chicken soup. When I opened the lid of the rice bowl, I saw the shiny golden omelet. The chicken pieces were also big and juicy. The seasoning was just right, with a perfect sweet and savory balance. The thick rolled omelet was a bit on the sweeter side. The grilled chicken was tender and made a great accompaniment to the beer! As I was enjoying the meal, the dessert also arrived. Thank you for the delicious meal!
