I went to Yanagawa for a meal and rented a temporary car to go to "Aji-dokoro Genroku" restaurant. The restaurant is located near the Hokamachi intersection. I used the navigation system to find it, but since I didn't check the exterior image of the restaurant, I couldn't find it at first. Instead, I found a temporary parking lot nearby. (laughs) I parked my car there and called the restaurant, only to find out that it was about 50 meters away. The restaurant is located next to a creek that is as wide as a river. It is a three-story white building with stainless steel letters saying "Genroku" next to the entrance. It was indeed the location that the navigation system pointed out. There were no prominent signs, and at first glance, it looked like an office building, so I accidentally overlooked it. (laughs) I visited the restaurant at 12:05. When I entered the restaurant, there was a fish tank in the center of the floor. There were 7 seats at the counter facing the kitchen and several private rooms. It seems like there are also customer rooms on the second floor. I sat at the available counter seat and studied the menu. Since I was there, I decided to go for the top course, the "Upper Nigiri Set (3,300 yen, tax included)." The dishes were served promptly, without much waiting. In fact, they kept coming one after another. There were three appetizers, a sashimi platter, oboro tofu, salad, and chawanmushi. Wow! This is a feast! The sashimi included bonito, spear squid, and whale. The whale, in particular, was a rare ingredient and tasted delicious without any unpleasant smell. (#^^#) I wanted to savor it slowly. Just when I thought that, tempura and soup were served. I had already eaten the sashimi, and I didn't want the tempura to get cold... The pace was faster than I expected. I tried to tell the chef in front of me, "Chef, I want to eat the nigiri later because I want to take my time," but it was too late. "I'm already starting to make the nigiri," said the chef. (^▽^;) Eight pieces of nigiri were lined up in front of me. Each piece was quite large. Rather than taking a bite, it felt more like "chewing." The rice was slightly sticky, and the large pieces of fish provided a satisfying chewiness and volume. And all of this for 3,300 yen, a reasonable price that you wouldn't find in Fukuoka city. The taste was, of course, excellent. It's a bit of a shame to eat such delicious food quickly, but when everything is served at once, you might miss the right timing to enjoy each dish while it's still hot. Isn't that a waste? That's how I felt. Oh, there's dessert included too. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meal. Thank you for the feast.
