When I ate it, there was a lot made so it was completely cold. It was so oily that my lips shone. The white fish paste (chikuwa?) was delicious. When I ate it, it had a bouncy texture and a popping sensation. It might be selfish, but because it was cold and greasy, my rating is on the lower side.

Although I didn't go to Otaru this time, I was very happy to find out that you can also buy them at New Chitose Airport. - Pan Rolls x2 @ 237 yen (tax included) - Potato and Corn @ 248 yen - Hira-Ten (deep-fried fish cake) @ 226 yen - Squid Ball @ 86 yen The Pan Rolls are made by mixing minced pollack with ground meat, coating it with thin bread dough, and frying it. It is a very simple dish, but the crispy texture on the outside combined with the creamy texture of the fish cake is wonderful, and the deliciousness never gets old no matter how many times you eat it. Hira-Ten is a deep-fried fish cake with a moderate elasticity and sweetness, making it a familiar and easy-to-eat snack for the people of Otaru. The Potato and Corn is a limited edition product only available at the airport, featuring the ultimate combination of potatoes, corn, and cheese. The Squid Ball with squid and green onions that I purchased for the first time this time was also delicious. While not suitable for souvenirs, it is recommended to purchase them for home and reheat them for a delicious meal. All the processed products were delicious and served as a great side dish for rice.

Kamae, located in New Chitose Airport, has its main store in Otaru. It's perfect for a quick snack with beer! This time, we tried their popular No.1 Pan Roll, No.2 Hira Tempura, and the Chitose Airport limited edition Jagacorn. The items were hot and delicious, with a sweet taste from ingredients like onion in the surimi. I would love to buy some as souvenirs next time.

While sightseeing in Otaru, we found a shop called Kamaei Factory Direct Sales that had a line of cars waiting to park. We found out they also have a shop at New Chitose Airport, so we decided to buy from there on our way back without waiting in line at Otaru. The line at the airport shop moved quickly, and there were multiple lanes for customers to queue in. The variety of products was impressive, and we wanted to buy one of each, but we had a lot of luggage so we had to choose carefully. The shop offers unique and delicious Western-style fish cakes. The pepper-flavored bread roll tasted like a hamburger despite being a fish cake, which was quite interesting. The small squid balls were packed with tender squid and full of flavor, which we really enjoyed. The asparagus bacon fish cake had a texture of fish cake but lacked the typical Japanese flavor, making it a unique dish. The potato corn fish cake was filled with potato and corn in every bite, with a hint of cheese flavor. It was quite filling. The miso-flavored fish cake was spicy and savory, making it a perfect snack with alcohol. The burdock root and carrot fish cake had a great flavor, making us want to add it to udon or noodles. The sweet tempura fish cake had a surprising sweetness but was well-balanced with soy sauce flavor, making it suitable even for children.

I ordered the Hira Ten (216 yen) and Ebi Maru Ten (237 yen). The Hira Ten was delicious, but because it was large, it became a bit monotonous. It might be better to share it. However, the Ebi Maru Ten was outstandingly delicious. It had plenty of small shrimp and was great value for money. Next time I stop by, I will definitely reorder the Ebi Maru Ten!

Whenever I return to Haneda and feel a little hungry, I always come here. I always order the popular No. 1 and No. 2 dishes, "Hirate" and "Pan Roll". They are safe choices. But sometimes you need to try something different. Both dishes are freshly fried, so you can enjoy them warm. "Hirate" is a classic dish, and it's the essence of Kamaei with its gentle sweetness. It's no wonder it's the most popular dish. However, I feel like it's been a bit too sweet lately. "Pan Roll" is made by wrapping minced saury, pork, and onions seasoned with pepper in a thin bread and frying it. The extremely thin bread, less than 5mm thick, creates a crispy texture, and the perfect balance of salt and sweetness of the minced fish is a great match. I would definitely like to visit again. Bread roll ¥226, potato corn ¥237, cheese fish cake ¥172. A famous fish cake shop established in 1938 in Hokkaido. Even at the airport, it's always crowded. I bought the above three items and ate them while they were still warm, and they were delicious, which explains their popularity! It's satisfying and good for the stomach.

When I come to Hokkaido, I always buy Pan Rolls to take home. It seems like they wrap minced fish in bread and fry it. It's also great as a snack! Unfortunately, it seems that Pan Rolls cannot be shipped outside the region, so you have to buy them at the store. Visited a kamaboko shop in Otaru around 9:30 on Friday, August 5, 2022. Couldn't resist buying some after seeing them displayed at the storefront. The kamaboko from Kamaei brought back a sense of nostalgia. I purchased the hiraten (¥216) and ebi maruten (¥237). The ebi maruten had a nice aroma with small shrimps inside. The taste was not overly sweet. In contrast, the hiraten was very sweet. I don't remember it being this sweet in the past. Both were thick and two pieces were quite filling. They are served freshly fried at the back, which was great as they were piping hot.

Kamae is nationally known, so there are various stores, but I happened to discover it at New Chitose Airport, so I decided to buy some. Personally, I love kamaboko, and I enjoy ordering it from various stores across the country, so I wanted to try Kamae's kamaboko as well. There was quite a long line in front of the store, and many people were buying it as a souvenir. They offer a wide variety of types, including limited edition items for each season. I ordered: - Hira-ten (flat tempura) for 194 yen - Fuwatoro negi-ten (fluffy and creamy onion tempura) for 194 yen. They are characterized by being moist and oily, and very sweet. They are tasty, but personally, I prefer something a bit lighter. However, when eaten hot on the spot, it leaves quite an impression (laughs). There were other items available for purchase at the store, but I forgot their names. I especially recommend the Hira-ten, as it allows you to enjoy the standard flavor.

On my day off, I visited the 7th store at Chitose Airport early in the morning. I was too full to eat, so I decided to go shopping. I stopped by "Kamaei" to buy some snacks. Personally, I'm not a big fan of their fish cakes because they are too sweet for my liking. However, my wife loves them and often buys them. This time, I bought a variety set for her as a souvenir, which included items like "Hira-ten, Cheese Chikuwa, and Ebi Maru-ten." When we got home, we heated up the "Hira-ten" in a frying pan. Since the taste is on the sweeter side, we usually eat it with grated ginger and soy sauce. The texture is soft, chewy, and smooth, which is why I can see why it's popular. I'm sure we'll end up buying from there again in the future. After visiting 7 stores in about an hour, I'd say it was a decent haul. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a shop on the 2nd floor of New Chitose Airport Terminal Building that sells various types of processed food, with the purpose of buying a Pan Roll (226 yen). The Pan Roll is a popular item made of thin bread dough rolled with ground pork, onions, and seasoned white fish paste. There was a line of about 10 people waiting at the counter, eager to buy the Pan Roll and other popular items like Hiraten (deep-fried fish cakes) and Jaga Corn (potato and corn croquettes). Despite the tempting menu, I only ordered the Pan Roll as I had just eaten miso ramen at Yukiakari Ramen Dojo and had no room left in my stomach. When reheated in a toaster, the Pan Roll had a crispy outer bread texture that complemented the moist and elastic texture of the fish paste inside. The added accents of onions and pepper enhanced the deliciousness of the roll. The thinness of the bread was perfect, bringing out the savory flavor of the fish paste. It was incredibly delicious.

Located in Otaru, this fish paste shop has a branch at New Chitose Airport. I tried the "Shrimp Tempura" for 216 yen and the "Shiitake Mushroom and Burdock" for 216 yen. If there's shiitake mushroom, I always choose it. The warm tempura was delicious, and I still think fish paste is the best! It was a nice sweet treat in between meals. New Chitose Airport is a fun place to visit.

This is a famous shop with its main store in Otaru. I was planning to try their specialty "Pan Roll," which is a roll of mashed ingredients wrapped in bread, but I ate too much in Hokkaido and ended up with a stomachache, so I couldn't eat it. I bought some mashed ingredients for souvenirs instead. They are packed in vacuum-sealed bags so they last long, making them perfect for souvenirs. There are various types available. Well, the taste is just delicious in a normal way. I found it a bit sweet, but it depends on personal preference. I feel like I can't fully judge their quality without trying the freshly fried mashed ingredients, so I want to have a rematch next time!

This time, I visited to try their popular bread rolls. There were a few people in line at the shop, but the service was quick and I didn't have to wait long. In addition to the bread rolls, I also bought potato corn and fried edamame. I warmed them up in the oven before eating. The bread roll is wrapped in bread with kamaboko inside. It is said to contain minced meat and onions, but all I could taste was the kamaboko. The bread crust was crispy from baking in the oven, and the kamaboko inside was chewy and delicious. The potato corn and fried edamame were also very tasty and paired well with beer.

I tried the classic hira-ten. It's a slightly larger tempura made with fish paste that's perfect for passing time at the airport. It was very sweet, and if this sweetness came from just the ingredients, that would be amazing. It reminded me of Otaru's past as a thriving port town, and it was a very delicious tempura that valued the taste of the ingredients.

Expedition last. I was lured by the bread with fish paste after all (cries). Even though it's called bread, it was really thin-skinned (laughs). It's warm so I eat it right away. It's delicious with a fluffy texture and a soft salty taste, but I wonder if it's too salty due to the fish paste. Thank you for the meal. When I get back, I definitely need to detox (-ω-;)
