Gyoza specialist restaurant "Gyoza Hohei" from Kyoto, which has now expanded its stores to Ginza and Ebisu. The gyoza are small bite-sized pieces that can be eaten with a small mouth, even by maiko and geisha. The ginger gyoza without garlic is popular to avoid any strong smell. The main store in Kyoto is always crowded with long lines, and it is closed on Sundays and holidays, making it a popular but somewhat difficult-to-visit place. I tried their gyoza as takeout last time, and even though it was cold, the crispy surface was still intact with a light texture and juicy filling. I wondered how delicious it would be if it was hot and fresh! Hohei has now opened its first store in Osaka in the midst of the pandemic, located in Dotonbori in Minami. The store is open from 17:00 on weekdays and from 12:00 on weekends and holidays. They currently do not serve alcohol due to the state of emergency, but the operating hours are still delightful. The location is prime in the Hishifumi Building on Soemoncho in Dotonbori (entrance is on the riverside). I visited during the day, and the simple and modern space of the newly opened store was refreshing. The gyoza (8 pieces) cost 500 yen, and they offer standard gyoza with leeks and garlic. The small size makes it easy to eat. The ginger gyoza (8 pieces) for 500 yen is a popular menu item with a refreshing ginger flavor and a special miso sauce. The Tsubo Cucumber for 380 yen is a side dish of one-bite cucumber dressed with sesame oil. The Oni Clam Espresso for 380 yen is Hohei's original soup packed with the deliciousness of clams. Although it didn't have the same impact as the main store, the hot and fresh gyoza were still delicious. It was nice to be able to drink during the day despite the shortened operating hours. I would like to visit again once alcohol is allowed. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a famous gyoza restaurant branch in Dotonbori, Kyoto, based on the recommendation. The entrance was hard to find, only accessible from the river side. I ordered the following: ★Gyoza (8 pieces) with leek and garlic for 500 yen ★Gyoza (8 pieces) with ginger for 500 yen, which was recommended for Maiko-san without leek and garlic. I initially ordered the ginger gyoza and it was so delicious that I quickly finished it, so I ordered an additional plate of leek and garlic gyoza. They were so delicious! The gyoza were bite-sized and easy to eat, even without dipping sauce. The skin was crispy and light, and the meat was flavorful. The ginger gyoza came with a special miso sauce, which paired perfectly with the flavor. The leek and garlic gyoza came with a traditional sauce. The restaurant also served a refreshing cucumber dish with sesame oil for 380 yen, which was a perfect appetizer while waiting for the gyoza. Overall, the gyoza were surprisingly delicious, and I would love to visit again!

I had always wanted to visit a restaurant in Kyoto, but never had the chance to because of timing. However, I found out that they have a lunchtime in Osaka, so I made a reservation right away. I mistakenly walked in the wrong direction because I didn't realize the entrance was on the Dotonbori River side, but overall, it's an easy place to find. The restaurant has counter seats and table seats, making it convenient for families. Since I had plans to have tea later, I opted for the A lunch set with 8 gyoza (ginger flavor). The gyoza was on the smaller side, with crispy skin and slightly pasty filling, served with miso sauce. Personally, I prefer the filling to be more finely chopped, so I was a bit disappointed with the filling, skin, and sauce. The fried chicken was exactly to my liking and the best I've had recently. There were also various side menu options that caught my interest, so I'm looking forward to trying them next time. I definitely want to visit the restaurant in Kyoto next time.

Located along the river in Dotonbori (Tonbori Walk), this popular Kyoto restaurant is often seen on TV with long lines. However, the Dotonbori branch was surprisingly empty when I visited. There were only two groups when I entered, but they left and I ended up being the only one there. I wonder if they struggle to attract customers in a tourist spot like Dotonbori. I had already eaten a little, so I opted for the a la carte option of 8 dumplings for 500 yen instead of the lunch set (dumpling set). The dumplings were delicious with crispy skin, but I think 500 yen is expensive for that small portion.

Had a great time drinking and eating in Minami with Aifang-chan♪ Our fourth stop was "Gyoza no Hyoutan" in Gion, Kyoto, which has a main store and has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. I've actually been rejected twice before at a Kyoto restaurant during Obon, but this Dotonbori branch allows reservations through Tabelog and is open on Sundays and holidays as well. We had to go there! We ordered Sapporo Black Label for 680 yen, 8 pieces of gyoza (with leek and garlic) for 500 yen, and an espresso of devil clams for 380 yen. The gyoza comes in two varieties: leek and garlic, and ginger. This time, we chose garlic. They are bite-sized and easy to eat, even for geisha and women in Kyoto, with plenty of vegetables and well-seasoned filling. The skin is very thin but perfectly crispy, making it very delicious. The devil clam espresso was made with large devil clams, which was a surprise in a small cup. The soup was rich and delicious. Although it is a restaurant where you would normally have to wait in line, I was grateful for the smooth experience. Thank you for the meal! ♡

A gyoza restaurant from Kyoto has opened along the Dotonbori River. Due to the location, there are many foreign tourists, so they have prepared an English menu. Customers can order by scanning a QR code with their smartphone. There are two types of gyoza: garlic or ginger. The bite-sized gyoza are full of flavor and delicious even without any sauce. The ginger gyoza does not contain garlic and is served with homemade miso sauce, which is quite interesting. The prices are reasonable and you can relax and enjoy your meal.

I wanted to go and try the infantry. The menu was surprisingly limited with dishes like ginger gyoza, tamagoyaki, tulip-shaped karaage, espresso with devil clams, chicken and ginger soup. The staff in the back served the karaage and tamagoyaki, while the girls in front of me prepared the rest. The tea was disappointing, so I recommend trying the ginger ale instead.

I visited a restaurant in Osaka to try the Kyoto-style gyoza. I arrived at the restaurant at noon as I had been looking forward to it. I ordered two recommended types of gyoza. First, I enjoyed a bottle of beer to quench my thirst, and then I tried the pan-fried gyoza. It was incredibly delicious. It was a truly blissful time.

Thanks to the reservation-only policy, there were no other customers on this day, so I was able to enjoy the gyoza slowly. It's a plus point that they have bottled beer! In addition to gyoza, there are also side menu options available. There are counter seats and table seats, so I think it's a place where you can enjoy whether you're alone or in a group.

I had heard that the Gion Honten and Ginza branches in Kyoto were popular, but I had never tried it before. The dumplings were small and easy to eat, and they also had appetizers like cucumber and chicken wings, as well as a surprisingly wide variety of drinks at a reasonable price. I thought it was a convenient restaurant to visit.

I have always wanted to try the gyoza at the infantry restaurant. The Gion main store has been featured in the Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand for three consecutive years. The Gion main store always has long lines, so I had given up on going there, but I heard that the Dotonbori store is a hidden gem. I ordered the gyoza, ginger gyoza, jar cucumber, and espresso with devil clams. The famous ginger gyoza had a great aroma and was very juicy. Even without the miso sauce, it was delicious enough on its own. The regular gyoza had a strong flavor of garlic and chives, and once I started eating them, I couldn't stop. You can also get takeout, but I think you should enjoy the crispy skin by eating in. There are also private table seats separated by curtains, where you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

I finally visited a famous restaurant from Kyoto that opened in Dotonbori, Osaka. I went around 1 pm on a holiday and there were only 3 customers ahead of me. I was expecting long lines like in Kyoto, so I was a bit disappointed. I tried the ☆ginger dumplings☆ and the ☆garlic chive dumplings☆, both priced at 500 yen for 8 pieces. The dumplings were bite-sized and easy to eat. In Kyoto, many dishes are made to be eaten in one bite. The dumplings were crispy, but a bit oily, especially when fried with a lot of oil. Even the ginger dumplings didn't feel refreshing. It seems like the restaurant became a hit because they had geishas deliver food to customers for a high price, but it felt more like a trendy place rather than a traditional one. Thank you for the meal.

Good morning! This is @zukasama.maria, a salaryman who wants to indulge a bit✨ Today, since I had a day off from work, I had a day drinking session with a business executive who came from Nagoya to Osaka. Our first stop was at Gyoza no Hohei in Dotonbori♂️ @hohei_dotonbori. The menu and items were simple but really good. We had 4 servings of gyoza and beer, which was fantastic✨ Thank you for the delicious meal✨ Thank you for always liking and commenting. I would be happy if you followed me✨

It seems that a famous Gyoza restaurant from Gion has opened in Dotonbori, so I tried the Gyoza Infantry Dotonbori branch. I had pickled cucumbers and Gyoza (with garlic and chives). There are various condiments on the counter, but they recommended miso. The miso was not like the red miso from Akamanten in Kobe, but more like light Shinshu miso. They start cooking the Gyoza after you order, so it's nice to enjoy some fast menu pickles while waiting with a beer. The Gyoza was indeed delicious, but for a little over 500 yen, there are other places in the drinking district north of Soemoncho like Minamihira-san, where you can get 15 Gyoza for 720 yen (known as the birthplace of mini Gyoza, easy for women to eat) or Chibisuke-san, where you can get 10 mini Gyoza for 430 yen. Compared to the survival of the restaurants in the drinking district, it's not that expensive, but I wonder how it will fare with tourists and young people along the Dotonbori River. I hope they do well.

I am a fan of the main store in Gion, so I heard there was a store in Dotonbori and decided to visit. Across the river from Osaka Ohsho is Heiheisan. The owner here has a good sense of humor. I tried the dumplings, but unfortunately, they don't reach the level of the Gion store. They're not bad. It just doesn't have that incredibly delicious feeling you get at the Gion store. This can't be just dismissed with humor. Keep trying.

"Gyoza Hohei," a gyoza specialty restaurant located in Gion, Kyoto, which has been continuously selected in the Michelin Guide, landed in Osaka for the first time in March 2021. I had been to the main store in Gion and it was delicious, so I was delighted to see it in Osaka (*´艸`*)
- Ginger Gyoza: A gyoza with a filling made from cabbage, Chinese cabbage, pork, and ginger, with small and thin skins as a feature. It uses about twice as much ginger as regular gyoza, without any chives or garlic. It is enjoyed with a homemade miso sauce base with ginger. The small size makes it easy to eat, and you can enjoy it without worrying about the smell, so you can eat a lot of them. It uses fragrant ginger from Kochi Prefecture and has a punchy flavor that I like ♥
- Gyoza: There are also gyoza with regular chives and garlic. It uses both cabbage and Chinese cabbage, with the sweetness of cabbage and the texture of Chinese cabbage being appealing. This is enjoyed with gyoza sauce instead of miso sauce. However... maybe it's a problem with the way it was cooked, but the crispy texture of the skin was weaker compared to when I ate it at the main store.
- Tsubo Cucumber: Cucumbers dressed in sesame oil are perfect as an appetizer while waiting for the gyoza to be cooked. Once you start eating, you can't stop.
- Chicken and Ginger Soup: The soup made with chicken thighs and breasts has a gentle flavor that is perfect for finishing the meal. It was so delicious that when I tried making it at home, it was well received by my dad ( 'ω')v
It's located along the river in Dotonbori, but it may be hard to find. However, I was able to enter easily, so it might be a hidden gem. Thank you for the wonderful meal ☆彡"

I felt like eating dumplings, and since there is a branch of Namba no Hohei in Kyoto, it's convenient to have one nearby. I ordered two servings each of leek garlic and ginger dumplings, as well as pickled cucumbers. All we did after that was drink alcohol, which went down really well. Thank you for the meal!

I visited once before and the taste was worth the wait. The infantry-san has opened a new branch along the Dotonbori River, and although it was a bit early for dinner, I decided to visit. A young lady in the kitchen was skillfully wrapping the gyoza. The gyoza, which is small and easy to eat even for geisha with delicate mouths, has thin skins that are crispy, emphasizing the texture and flavor of the filling. The normal gyoza contains pork, leeks, garlic, and cabbage. The leek flavor stands out more than the garlic, and I enjoyed it. It is recommended to eat this with vinegar soy sauce. The ginger gyoza does not contain leeks or garlic, and the ingredients are finely chopped, giving it a gentle flavor. This one is served with a light miso sauce mixed with fragrant vegetables like myoga. The pot cucumber is a palate cleanser to reset the oil from the gyoza. It is lightly seasoned with sesame oil and spices, refreshing to eat. While the gyoza at the main store was excellent, the Dotonbori branch is a hidden gem as it is not very noticeable with its entrance facing the river, so there seems to be no long lines.*Location & AccessAlong the Dotonbori River, near Ebisu Bridge. I came to this restaurant located by the canal in Dotonbori to eat gyoza. The restaurant has a counter and semi-private table seats. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter and ordered a bottle of beer and a jar of cucumbers. Of course, I also ordered two servings of gyoza. I asked the staff about the jar of cucumbers, which seemed like a good beer snack, but to be honest, it wasn't particularly delicious. The gyoza arrived. It consisted of 8 pieces in the shape of one large gyoza per serving. When I tried to eat them, they were all connected, and when I tried to separate them, they broke apart. These gyoza were different from the crispy skin and juicy filling type that I was used to. Taste preferences vary from person to person, but personally, I didn't quite like them.

A famous Kyoto restaurant was located in Osaka's Dotonbori! Although I usually want to go to the always crowded Kyoto main store... oh well, let's give it a try. Luckily, it opens at 17:00 on weekdays, but at 12:00 on weekends and holidays. And it's not crowded! Wait, is it okay that it's this empty? You can also keep a safe distance during the pandemic. We ordered gyoza, ginger dumplings, jar cucumber, and the espresso of demon clams. They come up with such clever names like "demon clam espresso" - it's a great way to describe the intense flavor with a small amount of espresso.

From Namba Station on the Osaka Metro, it's just a 5-minute walk to this popular dumpling restaurant that originally had long lines in Kyoto's Gion district. The shop has now opened a branch along the river in Dotonbori, Osaka. It has been featured in various media outlets and even received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. The dumplings are small in size, with a crispy skin and a fluffy filling that I really enjoyed. There are two types of dumplings available, each served with a different dipping sauce - miso or vinegar soy sauce. The sauces complement the flavors really well. The menu mainly focuses on dumplings, with a few snack options available. The restaurant closes at 10 pm, making it a good spot for a second round of drinks. Even at later hours, there can be long queues, showing its popularity in Osaka. Some recommended dishes include the garlic chive dumplings and the ginger dumplings with miso sauce, as well as the flavorful espresso of devil clams.

Gyoza Heihei, a popular restaurant in Gion, Kyoto, known for its long lines and being featured in various media outlets, has finally opened its first branch in Osaka. After a year of wanting to go, I finally had the chance to visit. The Osaka branch is spacious with 9 counter seats and 5 tables. The menu is the same as the one in Kyoto.
What we ordered:
- Espresso of Devil's Tongue Clams: A must-try item with a rich soup packed with the flavor of clams. It's really delicious and seems very healthy.
- Gyoza x2: Thin and crispy skin filled with plenty of filling. They are bite-sized and easy to eat, but I couldn't resist having three at once due to their juiciness.
- Ginger Gyoza x2: Garlic-free ginger gyoza with a special miso sauce. The combination of ginger and miso is amazing, and you can enjoy it without worrying about the smell.
The taste remains consistently delicious, and the restaurant's late opening hours make it very convenient. They also open for lunch on weekends starting at 12:00, which is great. If you love gyoza, this is a restaurant you must visit.
