I visited the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. It seemed to be a popular place as there were already about 5 groups waiting when I arrived. The turnover was slower than expected, and after waiting for about 30 minutes, people who had made reservations started arriving one after another. I couldn't help but wonder when our turn would come. We ended up waiting for almost an hour before being seated. The soba was delicious, but the wait was a bit long and there seemed to be a lack of explanation.

It felt like suddenly coming to a rural place! It reminded me of my grandma's house from the past!! I ordered a course meal and each dish was carefully prepared using buckwheat flour, yet each one was different, with some flavors I had never tasted before and it was delicious!! The dessert was a mille-feuille made with buckwheat flour and it was delicious!!!

I felt like eating soba noodles and visited this restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere of the 150-year-old traditional Japanese house was amazing. The tempura was crispy and elegantly delicious. The zaru soba had a light flavor with less sauce, but the sauce itself had a rich taste. It was more about chewing than the texture. I forgot the name, but the matcha soba cake was moist and tasty. Lastly, adding soba broth to the sauce and drinking it was a nice and delicious experience.

Eating soba noodles in Karatsu Street! Located on the Karatsu Street Harimachi-dori side, south of Don Quijote in Munakata City, this restaurant has preserved a historical townscape with white-walled buildings. The entrance is a bit hard to find due to the traditional house design, but there is parking available. You enter through a veranda-like entrance and take off your shoes before being seated in a spacious tatami room. The menu offers soba and tempura set, with the recommendation being cold soba noodles. The soba noodles have a subtle flavor, and the tempura includes shrimp, shiso leaves, pumpkin, shiitake mushrooms, and squid. The meal is served with wasabi, which adds a delicious touch to everything. After finishing the meal, warm soba broth is served, providing a cozy ending to the dining experience. I enjoyed delicious soba noodles in a historic setting along the street.

Visited around 11:45 on a holiday. The mansion had a quaint and vintage feel to it. We were told to sit wherever we liked, so we chose a seat with a view of the courtyard. There were about four other customers already there. We ordered the most popular item on the menu, which was the 1500 yen lunch course (including tax). For the soba, we could choose between cold or hot. We chose the Cold Soba Trio (three types of dipping sauces). The hot option came with three toppings (grated yam, fried tofu, and tempura soba). For the soba dessert, we chose the "Soba Zenzai" from six options. The soba tea had a fragrant aroma, a classic choice for a soba restaurant. The food arrived in about 5 minutes. - Soba Gaki Tempura: freshly fried and piping hot, with soba gaki (fried soba) and shrimp inside, seasoned with matcha salt. - Flavored Rice: ginger and taro seasoning, with a mild and gentle flavor, accented by the spiciness of the ginger. - Kombu Tsukudani: simmered kelp. About 10 minutes later, the soba was served. The three dipping sauces were sesame sauce, grated yam, and regular dipping sauce. The sesame sauce came with toppings of chicken breast and large leaf. The soba had a slightly green hue, indicating it was made from new buckwheat. It had a good texture and was delicious. The soba broth, which initially seemed thin, turned out to be surprisingly viscous, with buckwheat sediment at the bottom. For dessert, we had the Soba Zenzai, which had soba gaki in it, with whole red beans still visible. By the time we left, the restaurant was almost full, with the parking lot also packed. It seems like making a reservation would be a good idea on holidays. Thank you for the meal.

I didn't know there was a place like this in Munakata. Walking on the atmospheric cobblestone street, I came across a 150-year-old house with a blue curtain. I wasn't sure where to enter the shop after passing through the curtain, but luckily someone came out and showed me the way. Inside, there was a tatami room with a large tokonoma displaying a big hanging scroll, creating a nice atmosphere. However, old houses can be quite cold. I had a tempura course which was delicious. There is also a parking lot next to the shop.

I have been interested in this restaurant for quite some time and finally visited it with my wife after dropping off our son for a practice game. The restaurant is located a little off the main road, but it has a charming atmosphere. We parked in the back parking lot and were a bit nervous when asked about reservations, but luckily there was a free table available. It might be a good idea to make a reservation for weekend lunch times. The interior of the restaurant is renovated from an old Japanese house, and the view of the garden from our table was lovely. Since it was our first visit, we both ordered the 1200 yen lunch set. My wife had soba with flavored rice and dessert, while I had soba with a mini tempura bowl. Honestly, the soba tasted quite ordinary, but I think the nice atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall experience. My wife enjoyed the soba dessert, so I might try the dessert set next time.

While visiting Munakata Shrine, I decided to stop by a soba restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. Luckily, there was a parking spot available for my car, so I parked and started looking for the entrance. A staff member noticed me wandering around and called out to me. As I entered, I saw a well-maintained garden with a traditional Japanese house. I took off my shoes on the veranda and sat down in the tatami room. For lunch, I ordered cold soba noodles. First, I had tempura made with soba flour and shrimp, served with green tea salt. Before the soba noodles arrived, I was served shimeji mushroom rice and simmered kelp. The main soba noodles were not the delicate small portion you might expect from a famous restaurant, but rather a satisfying amount. The dipping sauces included grated yam, sesame, and leek broth. I started by confirming the wasabi and then tried the noodles in the broth. It was delicious. I was satisfied with both the sesame and grated yam dipping sauces. I finished by enjoying the soba broth. For dessert, I had matcha ice cream and a dessert that seemed to be made with soba flour and kinako (soybean flour). All of this for only 1500 yen was truly impressive.

Visited at 11:45 in the afternoon and there were already about four groups of customers. A bit hard to find, but there is a parking lot next to it. The store is not very noticeable at first glance, but the noren curtain is a sign. Ordered soba and a mini tendon. It seems like many people are ordering the lunch soba course. The price is a bit high, but it's rare to be able to eat soba made from buckwheat. The soba has a good flavor and a smooth texture. The tendon has one shrimp and a small amount of vegetables, but the broth is delicious and the portion is just right. I didn't have much time this time, so I would like to order a course and take my time next time. A place you want to visit again.

"Soba Sammai Course (cold)" .... Located on the Karatsu Kaido in Munakata, "Kaido Soba Takarai" is a nostalgic place reminiscent of a rural grandmother's house, with its old folk house, garden, tatami mats, and raised tatami floors. This time, I had the usual "Soba Sammai Course (cold)" set. It comes with three types of dipping sauces: regular, sesame with sliced chicken and perilla, and tororo (grated yam) with quail egg. The set also includes fried soba noodles with shimeji mushrooms and ginger rice as an appetizer. For dessert, I enjoyed soba gaki (pounded buckwheat) with ice cream. The combination of the chewy soba gaki with kinako (soybean flour) and ice cream created a delightful warm and cold sensation. Once again, the meal was delicious! Thank you for the feast."

Located along the Karatsu Kaido road in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, this soba restaurant is housed in a 150-year-old residence that has been renovated along with a sake brewery. The 1,650 yen lunch course seems to be popular, offering both cold and hot options. The first dish was tempura soba with simmered shimeji mushroom rice seasoned with matcha salt. The hot soba had plump shrimp with a nice texture. The rice was average, nothing special. Next was a trio of dipping sauces for the soba: plain, grated yam, and sesame. The sesame topping included shredded chicken and shiso leaves. The soba itself is made with 90% buckwheat from the Yatsugatake Mountains in Shinshu. The portion size was surprisingly large, which was a pleasant surprise. However, there were quite a few short pieces of soba, possibly due to the high buckwheat content. One companion ordered warm soba with the same trio of toppings. For dessert, we had zenzai (sweet red bean soup) with soba flour dumplings and matcha tea. The matcha tea was a nice touch, and the zenzai was deliciously sweet. The companion opted for ice cream, which was also good with the soba flour coating. Considering the generous portion size and quality of the food, the price of 1,650 yen was quite a deal. It was a satisfying experience to enjoy delicious food in such a charming atmosphere. However, it was a bit disappointing that they didn't provide wet towels. Also, some guests were walking around barefoot, which seemed inappropriate for a traditional setting. The cleanliness of the floors and other areas in the old building also raised some concerns.

I recently visited a popular restaurant in Munakata City, fascinated by the deliciousness of the soba. The parking lot can fit about 4-5 cars, but unfortunately it was full. I managed to find a spot at a nearby direct sales store and then entered the restaurant. The atmosphere of the old folk house was excellent. I was guided to my seat and the ordering process was very smooth. I ordered the Tempura Soba in large size (cold). First, a plate of assorted tempura arrived - 2 prawns, pumpkin, squid, eggplant, and shiso with matcha salt to enjoy. The tempura lacked a crispy texture and I wished there was tempura dipping sauce available. As I was contemplating this, the soba arrived. The noodles were thick and short, perhaps because they didn't use any binder. I took a bite and noticed something about the soba's flavor... I won't write any further. Maybe I had set my expectations too high for this famous restaurant.

Recently, there are many restaurants that have renovated old traditional houses, but this place seems to have a lot of history, almost like it hasn't changed in 150 years. I ordered the cold soba course for 1,650 yen. First, soba kakiage tempura and shimeji mushroom cooked rice were brought out. The soba kakiage tempura is served with green tea salt. The texture was chewy, and it was delicious with shrimp inside. As for the rice, it was cooked too soft for my liking, so I didn't find it particularly tasty. I thought it would be better with mixed grain rice. Next, cold soba and three types of dipping sauce were served. The dipping sauces were regular, sesame, and grated yam. The sesame sauce came with small pieces of chicken breast. I think the grated yam would be better served with rice. For dessert, you can choose between ice cream or sweet red bean soup, and I chose the sweet red bean soup. Inside the sweet red bean soup were dumplings made from soba flour instead of regular mochi. Overall, I think it's a good value for a lunch course. I was thinking of giving it a 4.0 rating, but I deducted points for the not-so-tasty rice.

There are many soba restaurants, but when I want to eat soba on a busy weekend, I come here. It feels like an escape from the ordinary, and I feel healed (^_^) I can relax and feel like I've spent a nice weekend here. I always think about trying different things, but I always end up choosing the "Soba Sanmai (cold)" set. It includes three types of soba dipping sauce with zaru soba, flavored rice, fried soba noodles, and dessert. I love the shimeji mushroom and ginger rice, no matter when I eat it! For dessert, you can choose between zenzai and ice cream, but I always go for the ice cream. Eating ice cream with warm soba noodles is amazing (^o^) It was delicious this time too! Thank you for the meal ☆

"Located along the old Karatsu Highway in Munakata City, 'Michi no Soba Takarai' is a charming restaurant housed in a traditional old house. Both cold and hot soba dishes are priced at 880 yen. I ordered the most popular option, 'Soba Sampler' for 1650 yen, which includes: 1. Tempura-wrapped soba noodles, 2. Flavored rice, 3. Cold soba noodles, 4. Matcha tea, and 5. Soba dessert. The tempura-wrapped soba noodles added a nice texture to the dish. The flavored rice had a subtle ginger flavor and was delicious. The cold soba noodles had a smooth texture and came with three types of dipping sauces: sesame, grated yam, and traditional broth with a strong sweetness. For dessert, I chose soba zenzai, which was a bit too soft in texture. Overall, the meal was worth the price."

Today, I visited this restaurant. Finally made it. I had been wanting to come here for a while. My wife and I came together. We checked beforehand to make sure they were open. From the parking lot, we walked past a private house and entered the restaurant. It had a unique atmosphere. It felt like a traditional Japanese house! Inside, the owner showed us where to put our shoes and guided us to our table. The place seemed formal, but the owner and staff were very kind. We ordered the tempura and soba set for 1650 yen, as well as the 1650 yen lunch course. Surprisingly, the tea was delicious. The interior was spacious. If you went to the restroom, you might get lost (lol). The ambiance was cozy. It felt a bit solemn. Definitely not the kind of place to bring children. [Food Review] Soba noodles⇨Delicious. Hot. It was my first time trying it and it was amazing. Mixed rice⇨Light and elegant. The ingredients were simple, just shimeji mushrooms. A bit lacking in flavor, but my wife said, "The ginger flavor is strong and delicious." So there's that. Soba noodles⇨Delicious! 90% rating, whatever that means. Tempura⇨The batter was light, not greasy at all. Regular dipping sauce⇨Delicious Sesame dipping sauce⇨Delicious Yam⇨Not great, a bit bland. I wish there was more soba noodles. Also, it would have been nice to have something to wipe our hands or mouths with. Oh, and the yam dipping sauce was better at the bottom. Should have mixed it better at the beginning. Also, when I asked the staff what "soba gaki" was, they kindly explained it to me. It's basically soba flour kneaded into a paste. Oh, and the dessert zenzai probably had soba gaki in it, but I would have preferred regular mochi. All in all, I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

In the charming streets of Karatsu Kaido Haramachi in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, there is a lovely restaurant called "Michi no Soba Takarai". Upon passing through the entrance gate, you will find a beautiful garden. The first thing you see inside is a sunken hearth, a sight I had never seen before. The veranda you pass through on your way to the dining area offers a view of the garden, adding to the wonderful atmosphere. Inside the tatami room, you can see another side of the building's garden, creating a different but equally pleasant ambiance. I ordered the "Soba Set Meal" (1,500 yen excluding tax), which included tempura-wrapped soba noodles, flavored rice, cold soba noodles with sesame sauce, grated yam, and dipping sauce, and finally matcha with ice cream and kinako soba noodles, all of which were delicious. I was able to relax and enjoy my meal in the calm atmosphere of the restaurant. Despite it being a weekday lunchtime, the restaurant was full. It may be a good idea to make a reservation before visiting.

A shop quietly standing in Munakata City. It was my first visit, and part of it was on the main street, with both the interior and exterior of the shop in an old folk house style. Since I didn't have a specific dish in mind, I asked the staff for recommendations and chose the Soba Feast course. After about 5 minutes, I received a package with rice and soba. About 15 minutes later, the full soba set was served. I'm not a fan of sweet things, so I declined the matcha and dessert. Instead, I asked for a large portion of soba. The soba was 90% buckwheat, but it felt mild, maybe because it was a large portion of warm soba. The broth was mild with a hint of yuzu. The soba noodles and packaging were delicious. The tempura and grated yam were average. It's a very flavorful restaurant. *The owner is a very nice person.

The restaurant is located in an old mansion of the former Masatake brewery, where you can enjoy a leisurely meal of soba. The set menu includes both hot and cold soba, along with cake and coffee. The cold soba is served with a generous amount of dipping sauce, which is slightly lighter than usual but very delicious. The warm soba is also flavorful with a good broth. For dessert, you can choose between cheesecake or chiffon cake, with a blueberry sauce topping. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, making it a great place to enjoy a meal.

It is a wonderful restaurant located along the Karatsu Highway, as indicated by the name. We ordered warm soba and cold soba for two people. The cold soba had a firm texture and a refreshing taste, while the warm soba had a gentle broth. Both dishes were delicious.
