In Osaka, Hankyu Department Store is known as a stylish department store, but this food court had a cheap vibe to it. It was a pleasant surprise that I could enjoy the tako-yaki without having to wait in a long line like in Hankyu Department Store in Osaka. I decided to try something new and bought the Hakata Hankyu limited edition mentaiko cheese for 198 yen (tax included). It was served quickly as they had a good amount prepared in advance. When I tried it, it tasted familiar in a cheap way, reminding me of the flavor of Umaibo snacks. The squid (small pieces) appeared when I least expected it. Overall, it was a unique local delicacy and I enjoyed it.

I didn't know there was a place in the Hankyu department store basement at Hakata Station where you could eat squid okonomiyaki! Once I found it, I couldn't resist trying it, and it was my first time having it since I lived in Osaka. The squid okonomiyaki had a relatively acidic sauce, and the dough was chewy, with a luxurious amount of squid in every bite. It was delicious, although I was a bit disappointed that some parts of the dough didn't have enough sauce. I also tried the delavan for the first time, which had a creamy texture due to the egg in it. However, personally, I preferred the squid okonomiyaki because I felt it had more flavor!

The grilled squid was 154 yen, they warmed up the pre-made one on a hot plate and grilled it for us. It had a good amount of squid and a nice chewy texture. The yakisoba was 399 yen, they made it fresh on a hot plate after we ordered. It was great to get freshly made yakisoba at this price. It had a good portion size too. The cost performance is good, and it has a casual atmosphere that is easy for solo diners, and since it's a food court, it's also good for families with children.

I recently learned that the famous dish from Hankyu Umeda underground is also available at Hakata Station, so I decided to try it. I bought a canned beer from the liquor store next to the food court and enjoyed some grilled squid. The squid was wrapped in a vinyl for takeout, and when I unwrapped it, it felt a bit powdery and sticky rather than chewy. I wonder if this is how it's supposed to be.

Is there anywhere else in a department store where you can get a drink for less than 100 yen these days? The squid was plentiful and delicious, just what I needed. Eating this quickly and then shopping is the best. I wish I wasn't so full so I could have eaten more. It was a pleasant surprise to discover this shop. Thank you for the meal!

Located in the underground area of Hakata Station, this shop caught my eye. I ordered the "ika-yaki (152 yen)" and "mentai cheese (162 yen)" that I had been curious about. They arrived in about 5 minutes! The ika-yaki had a thin but chewy crust, and the squid and sauce went perfectly together! The mentai cheese was as delicious as I had imagined, with a punchy flavor that would go well with alcohol! It's cheap and would make a great snack. Thank you for the meal!

I decided to try one to get a taste of Osaka without actually going there. I ordered the regular one. It seemed like they didn't pre-make them as I had to wait for about 5 minutes. The pancake had a soft and fluffy wheat flour dough with a half piece of squid, and I could taste the sauce and soy sauce. I don't think anyone would find this dish unappetizing, it's like a B-grade gourmet food. The line wasn't too long, but it was definitely worth trying.

There was a famous squid grill shop from Hankyu Department Store in Osaka located in the food court of Hakata Hankyu. I visited during lunchtime and had the Delapan squid grill and yakisoba. The prices were 209 yen and 399 yen respectively including tax. I had bought frozen squid grill at a department store event in Tokyo last year, so it had been a while since I had eaten it at a restaurant. The Delapan squid grill tasted just as I had imagined. On the other hand, I wasn't expecting much from the yakisoba, but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious. It contained pork and squid, and perhaps the fact that the amount of pork was small worked in its favor as it wasn't greasy. The sweetness of the sauce combined with the deliciousness of the dish made it quite a decent yakisoba.

I entered Hankyu Hakata and tried the "Hanshin famous grilled squid". Although it may not be the most exciting for tourists due to being a Hanshin specialty, the Fukuoka exclusive "mentaiko cheese" caught my attention. At only 165 yen per piece, I decided to give it a try. Upon tasting it, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of mentaiko inside. The combination of squid, mentaiko, and cheese was quite delicious. Considering the price, it was definitely worth it. It's a contender for Utsuyaki in Morioka!

The famous grilled squid from Hankyu Department Store is always accompanied by long lines. However, unexpectedly, I found it in Fukuoka at the underground food court of Hankyu Hakata. The grilled squid was delicious, just like in Osaka. I didn't have to wait in line and the taste was as expected. I wish I had more time to enjoy it with a beer. Fukuoka is a city where you can enjoy grilled squid without waiting in line. I recommend this place to those who couldn't try it at Hankyu Umeda.

On the third morning in Fukuoka, I had breakfast in the Hakata area at the food court in the underground shopping area of Hakata Hankyu. I ordered champon, chicken nanban, and grilled squid. I chose the deluxe version called "Delavan" for 206 yen. The Delavan had more toppings like egg yolk compared to the regular grilled squid. It had a chewy texture, so it is recommended to eat it quickly. I haven't tried grilled squid in a while, so I can't compare it to the one from Hankyu Umeda Department Store. I used chopsticks to eat it this time, but I feel like it would be more enjoyable to eat it with one hand even if it's a bit hot. It was a delicious meal.

When I was a child, I often went with my grandfather to have lunch at the department store cafeteria and then he would buy it as a souvenir for me. It was much cheaper when I was a child, I think. Now, one piece of grilled squid costs 152 yen. I have bought it a few times at this shop, but what I always think is that it takes a really long time for them to serve it. It takes more than 10 times longer than the Umeda store. I think they should just bake and store it like the Umeda store for takeout. It had lots of small squid and the taste was nostalgic!
