I visited Patisserie Matsubara in Miike-cho, Kurume City. It is located on the right hand side after turning right at the Yatonoishi intersection when heading towards Uetsu from Kurume Interchange. As soon as I entered the store, I was drawn to the milk crepe! I love milk crepes the most among all Western sweets. They seem common in pastry shops, but surprisingly not that easy to find. I waited for my partner to choose, and finally we bought the milk crepe, strawberry shortcake, and Mont Blanc. The milk crepe costs 420 yen. It's a soft and jiggly type, not firm. The aroma of the baked crepe is delightful. The cream is elegantly sweet, topped with strawberries, kiwi, orange, and pear in four layers. The texture and sweetness of the milk crepe are enjoyable. I ordered a bento box for lunch at a restaurant near Kurume University, Oi Campus, and was told it would take about 10 minutes to be ready. So, I decided to visit the neighboring shop, "Patisserie Matsubara." The interior was simple and stylish, with a variety of cakes, baked goods, and chocolates for sale. I purchased the "Cicirichi Chocola (430 yen, tax included)" and when I opened the box at home, the cake was neatly wrapped in paper to prevent it from moving around. The taste was delicious, with a refined flavor that spread smoothly in my mouth. The cake had a cocoa-colored cylindrical shape with chocolate and dried orange toppings. Inside, there was orange puree and pistachio, creating a perfect balance of flavors. The texture and melting sensation were excellent, and the bitterness of the dried orange complemented the sweetness of the cake. Initially, I thought the price was a bit high, but the deliciousness justified it. My companion also enjoyed their selection, and we all agreed that it was a fantastic cake shop.
