I ordered miso ramen. There was garlic on the table, but it was empty inside, so I asked them to refill it and they brought it to me. When the ramen arrived, I added two scoops of garlic, and was planning to add more, but the garlic was immediately taken away. Was there a limit on how much garlic you could add??

"Miso Chashu" for 1,300 yen and "Shoyu Ramen" for 900 yen. This is the most popular shop in Umekokken. It was crowded, so we sat at the counter this time. While waiting, we watched the kitchen. Perhaps they are a married couple. They work together seamlessly, making many bowls of ramen one after another. It's fascinating to watch. The classic "Shoyu Ramen" is well-known as traditional Asahikawa ramen, but the highlight is the "Miso Chashu". The presentation is striking. Chashu wraps around the surface of the bean sprouts, creating a tower! This visual alone whets your appetite. The tender, lean chashu is delicious, and the thick menma is also tasty. The soup has the perfect balance of garlic and ginger. Although it's priced at 1,300 yen, the atmosphere of the shop is very pleasant, so it's worth a visit!

Follow me → @hyogo_book【Perfect for after visiting Asahiyama Zoo! Spicy Miso Ramen with a kick】Payment: Around 4,000 yen (for 4 people)【Recommended Points】- The cheerful and energetic staff are very nice!- Generous portions at a reasonable price!- Convenient location for a casual stop after visiting Asahiyama Zoo!【Disappointing Points】- None in particular【Impressions】We found this restaurant on our way back from Asahiyama Zoo, looking for somewhere to eat. It's a well-known place in Hokkaido, even at the airport! We ordered the Miso Ramen with chashu, which arrived quickly and looked delicious! The straight noodles in slightly spicy miso soup with plenty of chashu were satisfying. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, so I would love to visit again if I have the chance. If you're in the area, be sure to give it a try!━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━【Store Information】【Store Name】Umekouken Higashimitsu Branch, 10 minutes by car from Asahiyama Zoo【Business Hours】11:00-20:00【Budget】¥1,000-¥2,000【Instagram】No account available

I went to try the vegetable ramen that was well-reviewed. The large, impactful cuts of vegetables caught my attention. I added a slice of chashu to the soy sauce vegetable ramen. As for the taste... The vegetables were cut so large that they didn't mix well with the soup, giving the sensation of eating tasteless stir-fried vegetables. The soup itself also felt bland and lacked flavor, making it difficult to enjoy. Since it was my first time trying ramen at this restaurant, I'm not sure about the regular soy sauce ramen's flavor intensity, but perhaps ordering the vegetable ramen "with stronger flavor" would have been better? I sat at the counter and unfortunately couldn't find any tissues.

"Miso Ramen" for 850 yen at Umegakiken Higashiko branch, a famous Asahikawa soy sauce ramen shop. Sometimes it's a bit challenging to find parking due to heavy traffic, but today I was lucky to find a spot easily. I usually go for soy sauce ramen, but today I tried the "Miso Ramen". It arrived in just a few minutes. The soup had a strong flavor of ginger and garlic. I like to let the bean sprouts soak up the flavor a bit more, so I saved them for later. The noodles had a nice firmness and were delicious to slurp. The bamboo shoots were thinner compared to other places. As I reached the end of my noodles, I enjoyed the bean sprouts. I prefer my vegetables slightly stir-fried. Depending on the season, the table seats near the entrance can attract small mosquitoes from outside at night. But the miso ramen was delicious! The soy sauce ramen is also worth trying!

Miso Ramen (Large serving) for 950 yen. Today's lunch was at Umekouken Higashikou branch. As usual, I regret getting the large serving. Normally, I go for the soy sauce ramen at Umekouken, but today I felt like having miso ramen. It was served in about 10 minutes after ordering. The bean sprouts were plentiful, adding volume to the dish. I might have been fine without the large serving. The soup was a bit strong, but it paired well with the bean sprouts and noodles. The noodles were slightly firm at first, but as I ate, they softened to just the right texture. I wanted to finish all the soup, but for the sake of my health, I left half. It was delicious to have it after a long time.

I felt like having Asahikawa ramen, so I came to Umekouken. The shoyu ramen here is consistently delicious. The soup is rich and the noodles are firm. It was unusual that they didn't have a ticket machine, which is popular nowadays. It's nice to take your time looking at the menu, isn't it?

I visited Umekoken Higashi-mitsu store in Asahikawa Higashikou. The counter seats have been reduced for operation, with acrylic boards installed. I entered as soon as the store opened on Saturday. Afterwards, more people continued to enter, indicating its popularity. The menu structure seems to be similar to the main store. I like the vegetable-filled Vegetable Ramen at Umekoken, so I ordered the Vegetable Ramen (Shoyu) for 950 yen. It was served in about 7-8 minutes. It had plenty of vegetables, with stir-fried cabbage and bean sprouts as the main ingredients, along with bell peppers, carrots, and lots of green onions. It's rare to find a ramen with so many vegetables. The soup had a rich umami flavor, complemented by the sweetness of the vegetables. The low-water Asahikawa noodles paired well with the flavorful soup. The Menma, a unique Umekoken Menma, was also delicious. Eating the abundant vegetables, noodles, and soup in succession was a balanced and enjoyable experience. I think Umekoken, including its branch stores, consistently offers a certain level of quality in its taste, making it a representative ramen shop in Asahikawa!

A shop serving Asahikawa Ramen in Asahikawa. They have locations mainly in Asahikawa city, but also in other regions including the Kanto area. I ordered the miso butter ramen for 900 yen. It had plenty of toppings and a strong garlic flavor, with a rich miso taste.

I had the Shoyu Ramen at Umekoken Higashimitsu Store located at 3-17 Higashi Hikari 5-jo, Asahikawa City (750 yen). The ramen came with green onions, menma, and a large slice of chashu. It was my first visit to Umekoken's Higashimitsu Store. There were parking spaces in front of the store and across the street. Inside the store, masks were worn and there were partitions set up at the counter seats for COVID-19 prevention measures, making me feel safe. The menu included Shoyu Ramen (750 yen), Salt Ramen (750 yen), Miso Ramen (800 yen), Wakame Ramen (850 yen), Shoyu Butter Corn (850 yen), Salt Butter Corn (850 yen), Miso Butter Corn (900 yen), Nori Ramen (880 yen), Shoyu Vegetable Ramen (950 yen), Salt Vegetable Ramen (950 yen), Miso Vegetable Ramen (950 yen), Kake Ramen (550 yen), Student Ramen Shoyu/Salt (650 yen), Rice (150 yen), Small Rice (100 yen), and more. The noodles in the Shoyu Ramen were Asahikawa noodles with low water content, cooked firm. Personally, I liked the texture. The unique tangy Shoyu flavor of Umekoken was delicious and full of umami, making it a pleasant meal. Umekoken's older branch stores in Asahikawa have a better taste compared to the main store or franchises. It was a tasty meal. Thank you.

A ramen shop located along a broad street that stretches straight from Asahikawa City towards Mt. Asahi, with a suburban feel. There is a small parking lot in front of the shop, and you can see a few cars with "Wa" license plates. Inside the shop, there are simple metal tables and chairs lined up, with a TV playing in the background. You purchase a ticket from a vending machine near the entrance, and I chose the soy sauce ramen. The shop had a mix of local families and tourists as customers. The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes, looking quite standard. The soup was a light pork bone soy sauce flavor, not as oily as expected. The noodles were thin and easy to eat, with the chashu having a rich taste. The large pieces of menma added a nice crunchy texture. I ended up finishing all the soup. Thank you for the meal.

When I first tried the original soy sauce ramen at the main store, I didn't have that "wow" feeling, but it has a sense of reliability. It's the kind of ramen that I feel like eating maybe twice a year. But maybe it's okay to just get the instant one sold at the grocery store.

The restaurant seemed crowded, so we decided to try this place closest to the zoo. It was my first time trying Asahikawa ramen. I thought it would be a simple soy sauce flavor, but it turned out to be a delicious blend of pork bone, chicken bone, and seafood broth, similar to Yokohama style but milder. It exceeded my expectations in terms of taste. The service was also excellent, making the experience very pleasant.
