Fukudaya Kumamoto Kurian's "Kurisuki" is a must-buy for chestnut lovers. It's just whole chestnuts and they are incredibly delicious. You'll find yourself reaching for more and more. As the name suggests, chestnut lovers will definitely be satisfied. The ingredients are simple too, just chestnuts, sugar, and corn syrup, so it feels reassuring.

After returning from Hakata, I stopped by the sweets hall at Fukuoka Airport to look for souvenirs. I was intrigued by the variety of traditional Japanese sweets made with chestnuts, so I decided to check them out. After some deliberation, I purchased this one with a name that caught my attention. It was delicious, with a rich use of chestnuts from Kumamoto prefecture, perfect for chestnut lovers.

In Fukuoka Airport Domestic Terminal 2nd floor South Area, there is a "SWEETS HALL" that opened in August 2019. It features 20 shops including 14 specialized in Kyushu-style and Western sweets, 6 selling miscellaneous goods and local souvenirs. One of the popular items is the "Kurichisato" (135 yen), a moist baked Mont Blanc made with only Kumamoto-grown chestnuts. The delicious chestnut flavor spreads throughout the mouth, making it very tasty. There is also a variety of other chestnut-based sweets available.

I landed at the airport and headed straight to a sweets shop to buy souvenirs from Kyushu for my family living there. I noticed the word "chestnut" and decided to buy some sweets from a Japanese confectionery shop called Fukudaya Kumamoto Wakuri-an. They had a variety of chestnut products at reasonable prices. I purchased assorted chestnuts (3 pieces) for 540 yen and a chestnut chitose for 135 yen, totaling 675 yen. The chestnut chitose I bought was also included in the assorted chestnuts. The customer service was polite and wonderful. When I got home, we all tried the sweets. I had the chestnut chitose, which was like a bite-sized baked Mont Blanc with a luxurious feel. It had a moist and then crumbly texture with a refined sweetness. After finishing it, I felt quite satisfied. Looking at the product brochure, I saw they also had a "Wamonburan Mochi," which I would like to try next time.

I received a souvenir called "Kurichisato" from Kumamoto. It came in a cute package with a red tint, resembling a steamed bun. It was a moist baked confection with chestnuts inside and was delicious.
