Today is a holiday! I often go to Osaka on Saturdays, but I haven't been able to visit this restaurant that is closed on Saturdays, so I was excited to go there today. It's located on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building, and there was a line forming along the narrow spiral staircase from the landing on the 4th floor. There were about 7-8 groups waiting, so of course, I joined the line! After about 20-30 minutes, we were seated. I ordered the curry with rice size and spiciness level options, and I chose the regular size with medium spiciness.
[Spicy Pork Cutlet Curry with Soft-Boiled Egg and Cilantro Toppings]
The curry was on the thin side, almost like a soup. It had a complex blend of spices with a hint of coconut sweetness. Despite being spicy, the flavors were well-balanced without being overpowering. The cilantro topping added a nice aroma to the dish, and ordering extra cilantro was a good choice. The pork cutlet was thick and packed with meat. It wasn't melt-in-your-mouth tender, but the meat was soft and satisfying to eat. The thin and crispy coating made it easy to finish in no time. This curry pairs exceptionally well with beer! I had a Heartland beer this time, but I look forward to trying craft beer next time.
As I left, I still felt the tingling spiciness of the curry, and overall, it was a high-quality curry with great value and satisfaction. I chose medium spiciness this time, but I feel like I could handle the spicy level even higher! Thank you for the meal!

On September 24, 2023, Sunday at 11:10 am, arrived 20 minutes before the oven, with the first two groups (4 people) waiting in line. We entered on the first rotation. Ordered Spicy Tonkatsu Curry for 1,400 yen, with options for rice size (small, medium, large) and spiciness level (medium, spicy) to be chosen individually. Asked if we wanted cilantro as a topping. Added Pickled Boiled Egg topping for 150 yen.

I visited "Watanabe Curry Umeda Main Store". The store is located about a 3-4 minute walk from JR Kitashinchi Station. There were many people lined up even before the store opened. This time, I had the "Premium Tonkatsu Curry". I chose the spiciness level to be spicy. You can also choose the amount of rice as small, medium, or large, and I chose large. I opted for cilantro to be included. There are two types of roux, one with spicy and light spices, and the other with pork keema using squid ink, both of which were delicious and paired well with the rice and tonkatsu. When you squeeze lemon over it, it gives a refreshing taste. The tonkatsu was thick and had a good meaty flavor that I really enjoyed. When I dipped the spinach sauce in a separate dish, it changed the taste and was also delicious. It was a delicious curry. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Watanabe Curry Umeda Main Store for the first time. I ordered the Premium Tonkatsu Curry, medium spicy. The curry was less spicy than I expected, but the spices paired well with cilantro and the spinach roux allowed for a nice flavor change. The black curry was rich and flavorful, and squeezing lemon over it added a refreshing touch. The tonkatsu was crispy and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On a holiday afternoon at the end of summer, I felt like eating katsu curry and decided to visit. I ordered the Premium Tonkatsu Curry for 1900 yen and the Curry Lover Ale for 800 yen, totaling 2700 yen. I chose the spicy option, large rice, and added coriander. While enjoying the Curry Lover Ale, I waited for my meal. The tonkatsu was delicious as expected! The curry had a gentle flavor that was so good I could eat as much as I wanted. This was my first time trying the black curry, and it was refreshing and tasty. I am satisfied! Thank you for the meal.

After finishing my errands in Umeda, I visited the area next to Kita-Shinchi for lunch on a holiday. It's located on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building. I was worried it might be crowded, but there was no one outside the building, so I was lucky as I made my way up to the 3rd floor. There was a line on the narrow staircase... it even extended past the 4th floor. Since I had some time, I decided to wait. After about 40 minutes, I finally got a seat. The interior of the restaurant had a counter and tables, with over 10 seats in total. I ordered the most popular dish, the Spicy Tonkatsu Curry. I asked for medium spiciness and medium rice portion. Since I was sitting at the counter, I could see the busy movements of the manager and staff. The curry arrived in about 10 minutes and it looked beautiful. The tonkatsu was shining. I asked for coriander ("あり") and it was quite a lot. I'm not a big fan, but surprisingly, the combination of coriander and curry was amazing. The tonkatsu was not greasy, very tender, and delicious. It had a nice balance of spices and refreshing taste, just the way I like it. I'm glad I came here. I would love to eat here again. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the new menu item, Spicy Beef Curry with Black Wagyu Beef☆ and Tonkatsu Beef Curry, priced at 1,650 yen (tax included). Available at the Umeda store, limited to 20 servings per day (10 for lunch and 10 for dinner). It's a gluten-free curry made by simmering black wagyu beef, with a unique style that is neither traditional Indian curry nor European-style curry. Thank you for the meal. Thank you, Watanabe Curry Umeda Main Store!

I walked quite a distance from Umeda Station to get to this curry restaurant that I was looking forward to. It was located on the 3rd floor of a building, and there were several groups of people waiting. I ordered the recommended Premium Curry, which came with a beautiful tonkatsu, two types of curry, and spinach with spices, allowing me to enjoy different flavors while eating. The portion was quite large, and even though I can eat a lot, it was just enough for me. I added cilantro, but it ended up overpowering the taste of everything else. Next time, I'll skip the cilantro and savor the original flavor of the curry.

I had been curious about Watanabe Curry for a while, so I decided to visit. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry and the Beef Cutlet Curry. Both came with a side salad. I'm not sure if the tonkatsu was specifically made for curry, but it paired really well with the curry. It was very delicious. The beef cutlet was also tasty, with chunks of meat inside the curry sauce. I would love to come back again. Thank you for the meal.

Visited at 10:50 on a weekday (mistakenly thinking they opened at 11:00). Was the first customer (allowed to wait inside as it was hot by 11:20). The restaurant is on the 3rd floor of a building and a bit hard to find. Inside, there are 6 counter seats and 2 tables for 4 people and 2 people each. Ordered the "Spicy Pork Cutlet Curry" right away. You can choose the spiciness level (mild, spicy) and the rice portion (large, medium, small). I chose "spicy" and "large." Lunch comes with a salad. The food was served in about 15 minutes. The pork cutlet on the curry was lightly pink and well-fried. It was also generously portioned (150g). The curry sauce was a bit chunky, and although I chose spicy, it wasn't too hot, but the spiciness gradually increased towards the end. I chose a large rice portion, but if you don't eat a lot, medium might be enough.

Watanabe Curry Umeda Main Store in Dojima. It has been three years since my last visit. I was torn between the Keema curry and the Tonkatsu. Arrived at 12:00. There were 1-2 people waiting inside and I was the 3rd in line outside. Placed my order. Entered at 12:17. Sat down. The curry arrived at 12:20. I ordered the original Watanabe Curry (spicy, large rice) for 1400 yen, Tonkatsu for 500 yen, and something else for 50 yen, totaling 1950 yen (I thought it would be 1900 yen but maybe it was something else for 50 yen). The chicken curry, lamb/pork dry Keema, and Tonkatsu were all delicious. The Tonkatsu was generous in size with a crispy, light batter. Both the Keema and chicken curry were spicy and flavorful. The spicy sauce made me break a good sweat. Thank you for the meal. #WatanabeCurryUmedaMainStore #WatanabeCurry #Dojima

Special curry topped with lamb fry. Surprisingly, the coriander goes well with the curry. The seasoning is perfectly spiced and never gets boring. The portion size is great and it's a delicious curry with a well-balanced flavor.

I visited Watanabe Curry Umeda Main Store at noon. I was prepared to wait in line, but luckily I was able to enter the restaurant without any waiting time. I ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Curry (1300 yen) with medium rice and medium spiciness level. It came with a side of small salad.

I visited this European-style curry restaurant for the first time. Although I don't usually go for European-style curry, I decided to try it since I was nearby. Even at 1:30 pm, there was a bit of a wait as it is a popular spot. After some hesitation, I ordered the most popular dish, the Spicy Tonkatsu Curry with Lamb Keema on top. I found it surprisingly spicier than traditional European-style curry, but still far from a true spicy curry. The tonkatsu pork was delicious, and the spices in the breading were to my liking. Considering the quality of the pork, the cost performance is not bad.

I arrived around 1 o'clock and smoothly got seated. I had the original curry from Watanabe, ordered the spicy rice in a large size for lunch, which came with a mini salad. The chicken curry was delicious, but the keema was the best! It went perfectly with coriander, and even though I used to think coriander was just okay, for the first time, I found it delicious. Next time, I want to try the tonkatsu.

Premium Tonkatsu Curry Spicy (1800 yen). No wait time, no waiting outside. The curry has a spicy flavor with both spiciness and mustard spice, making you sweat but it's delicious. Especially, the quality of the tonkatsu is amazing. It's cooked to perfection, crispy and juicy, just the way I like it. The portion size is generous and very satisfying. I would definitely like to visit again.

During the Obon holiday, I visited around 11:30 and there were about 10 people lined up, it was so crowded that they were refusing takeout orders. The Premium Katsu Curry costs ¥1,800. The basic curry is mild in spiciness and has a low viscosity, which may be a matter of personal preference, but the black curry here is rich and delicious! The katsu has a thin and crispy coating and is quite tasty. However, the thick katsu may make you feel uncomfortably full towards the end... If you're a light eater, you might not be able to finish it. But you have to choose the Premium Katsu Curry to enjoy the black curry here :(´ω`): I feel like the katsu size should be about half to two-thirds for it to be just right... You should come to this restaurant with an empty stomach to order the Premium Katsu Curry in order to enjoy the black curry. By the time I left around 1:00, the line had disappeared, so it's better to go a bit later. (As of September 2023, rating ☆3.73)

It's a little after 3 pm on Sunday in Kitashinchi, which is close to Kitashinchi Station and Nishi-Umeda Station, but a short walk from Osaka Station through an underground passage. Let's climb up to the third floor of a nearby building from C61 and enter the restaurant. Inside, there is a nice atmosphere with dim lighting and moody background music. There are two tables for four people, two tables for two people side by side, and a counter that can seat about seven people. You can choose the amount of rice, spiciness, and whether or not to include cilantro in your curry. I chose normal spiciness with no cilantro and waited for a while before it arrived. The thick-cut tonkatsu is juicy and delicious, weighing 150g. The curry sauce is not thick but rather light and easy to eat, made with a blend of Japanese dashi broth, Sri Lankan spices, and fish and chicken. The turmeric rice is fluffy and yellow, and the whole dish is easy to enjoy. It's not very spicy, so those looking for more heat might prefer the spicier option. Thank you for the meal.

Third visit. Came on a Sunday around 12:00, expecting a line, but was seated right away with no wait. Ordered the limited edition black wagyu tonkatsu curry with a friend. Got medium rice and spice level 2. As always, it was delicious. The tonkatsu was thick, lean, and filling. The curry had tender chunks of beef and was silky smooth. Such a luxurious dish with the tonkatsu on top. Very satisfied and full. By the time we left, there were about 5 people waiting. The restaurant is quick with turnover, so you can probably get a seat quickly if it's just a few people. They also offer takeout. Will definitely come back!

It was a very hot day, but I went to Watanabe Curry seeking spicy flavors. I ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Curry with extra coriander toppings. It did not disappoint. It was worth waiting in line in the heat.

Watanabe Curry in Osaka. On Sundays, there is a long line starting early in the afternoon. The line goes from the first floor staircase to the third floor. This time, I aimed for the lamb cutlet. I decided to go for the Premium Tonkatsu Curry with lamb cutlet topping. The lamb cutlet was thick and well-fried, it paired well with the curry. The Premium Tonkatsu was delicious and solid. However, it was a huge portion, haha.
