I bought Ohagi for the equinox and went to the store at 8:55 when it opened. The store was already open and the parking lot was full, but the turnover was quick and the staff guided me to a parking spot right away. Inside the store, there were about 6 people waiting at the register. I bought three types of Ohagi and the famous Dorayaki, and left the store in about 3 minutes. The Ohagi had a moist texture with a restrained sweetness in the red bean paste. The Dorayaki was eaten by my family.

As usual, it's about Ohagi. This is my first time seeing three-colored Ohagi here. Have they always had it, or was it sold out before? Hmmm, I wonder. Of course, I bought it. I also bought Ohagi for offerings, Ohagi for souvenirs, and chestnut yokan. Today, customers keep coming one after another. The three colors of Ohagi are seaweed, soybean flour, and normal (red bean). The seaweed and soybean flour ones have less sweet bean paste, and the presence of seaweed or soybean flour is stronger. So, even if you don't like sweet things, it's still good. Huh? Was the normal one like this? The bean paste only covers about half of it, it used to cover the whole thing, I think... It feels a bit unsatisfactory. I only tried the three-colored Ohagi, so I'm not sure about the others, but this time, it was a bit disappointing. Customers kept coming one after another today.

After a long time, I went to Toraya. It was so hot, I was looking for a refreshing dessert. Unfortunately, the anmitsu was sold out. I decided to have some ice cream instead. This ice cream, called "kuzusharibaa," is made with kudzu powder, so it doesn't melt (the shape doesn't change). It takes a bit of time to soften, but if you refreeze it, it will go back to being ice cream. You can enjoy it as is, or let it thaw a bit. When you put it in your mouth, it's cool and chewy, making you feel happy. It's not as cold as shaved ice, but the fact that it doesn't melt or drip is great. Give it a try! They also have anmitsu-filled warabi mochi (good for 2 days in the fridge) and chilled kuzu (good for 3 days in the fridge). The anmitsu-filled warabi mochi is soft and bouncy, but it might be a bit tricky to eat because of the red bean paste inside. It's delicious, so feel free to eat it in one bite. The chilled kuzu is smooth and bouncy. For more information, please refer to my previous review. Enjoy!

Thank you for the treats! Whether knowingly or unknowingly, I love the sweets from this shop. We all shared and enjoyed them. It's about time for the summer sweets to make an appearance. In the heat, red bean paste tends to be avoided, but it's delicious when eaten cold. Looking forward to enjoying some cool summer sweets!

My mother, who loves Japanese sweets, was very happy to receive a Mother's Day version of fresh Japanese sweets with a shelf life of 3 days, along with flowers as a token of gratitude. It was a bit early, but she was delighted. Around early summer, the kuzumochi (rice cakes) that make an appearance are perfect for the warm weather. The texture is springy and cool, making it a refreshing treat. Strawberry daifuku is already out of season, so it's time to enjoy cold sweets. The anko (sweet red bean paste) inside the water kuzu mochi is incredibly smooth and melts in your mouth, especially the matcha and coffee flavors. My mother and I enjoyed it with smiles of delight.

I think it's about time to finish. I confirmed by phone and made a reservation for strawberry daifuku, which is definitely delicious. I also bought kashiwa mochi and chimaki this time. The kashiwa mochi has white bean paste in the white skin, and red bean paste in the mugwort skin. The chimaki comes in 2, 5, or 10 pieces, I think. I couldn't find them in the store, but they were kind enough to prepare them for me when I called ahead. The kashiwa mochi has a chewy texture to prevent sticking to the leaf, and the filling is delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. The chimaki is soft and bouncy, with a slightly sweet dough and a sprinkle of soybean flour on top. Both have a nice aroma from the leaf, which also acts as a natural preservative. They also had cute seasonal sweets for Children's Day and Mother's Day, which I reserved for next time. Truly happy, thank you ❤️

Strawberry Daifuku is the best after all. Before it ends, I made a phone call to confirm and asked them to hold it for me. I went to the store and they still had some left even though it was past 2 o'clock. They also had some in the back reserved. The staff said they will probably have it until early May. I also bought Toramaru (tea bun) and vegetable rice crackers on this day. Everyone, there's only a little bit of Strawberry Daifuku left, so hurry up!

I heard that the strawberry daifuku (rice cake) is delicious, so I went to try it. Even on a weekday afternoon, customers kept coming in. It seemed like fans from nearby areas and locals were visiting. The strawberry daifuku had a thin layer of mochi (rice cake) with a moderately sweet red bean paste and a strong texture. The sweetness and sourness of the strawberry matched perfectly. I really liked it. The dorayaki (red bean pancake) had a soft and chewy skin with a moderately sweet red bean paste and a strong texture. I usually prefer smooth red bean paste, but I didn't mind this kind at all. I would like to try the mitarashi (soy sauce and sugar glaze) next time.

'Toraya' is a well-known traditional Japanese sweets shop. It is located in a residential area in Kyomachi, Kurume City, about a 5-minute walk from JR Kurume Station. They offer elegant and delicious seasonal Japanese sweets. I recently received a gift of strawberry daifuku from a customer, and it was so delicious! ^_^

I saw the reviews of the people I follow and decided to visit this popular shop where you may have to wait a bit to park. They had only one set of 5 ohagi left, but I only wanted 2, so they kindly split it for me. The skewered rice cakes were elegantly sweet and carefully made, leaving me very satisfied. The strawberry daifuku, which is irresistible for red bean paste lovers, was also delicious. The ohagi and rice cakes have an expiration date of tomorrow, while the strawberry daifuku and chestnut yokan are good for the day after tomorrow. I definitely want to go back to buy seasonal Japanese sweets from this shop!

During the O-Higan period, I went to buy Ohagi, but ended up buying other things as well. The parking lot was full as many people were coming to buy Ohagi. The shop is usually not very busy, but during O-Higan, they have a lot of Ohagi prepared. They have packs of 2 or 3, but you can also buy them individually. The shop is located a bit off the main street, so most people come by car. Customers were buying one after another, and I couldn't resist the temptation. In the afternoon, they often sell out, but I found some Hana Ichigo (strawberry daifuku) that I couldn't pass up. Ohagi can be eaten on the same day or the next day, while Hana Ichigo and Kurimigashi (chestnut daifuku) can last for 3 days in the refrigerator. The anko (sweet red bean paste) was just right, with whole beans adding a nice texture. It was a happy 3 days. Thank you! Of course, I also bought some items for offerings.

This is a famous traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "Toraya" in Kurume. Today, I received various types of wagashi (Japanese sweets) from a customer as a gift. I think I will go buy the famous "strawberry daifuku" next spring ^o^ It was delicious. Thank you for the treat!

I love the traditional Japanese sweets shop called "Toraya" in Kurume City. When the season comes, they sell a strawberry daifuku called "Hana Ichigo" which is very popular. The strawberries are juicy and sweet, making it a delicious treat. The bite-sized portion is also convenient. I always buy it as a gift or for myself. Their other traditional Japanese sweets are also delicious and reasonably priced. When I eat the strawberry daifuku, I feel like spring has arrived. Thank you for the delicious treat.

While searching for Kurume, I came across a rare "mitarashi dango"! It's not the usual three skewered dumplings, but a single dumpling topped with "mitarashi" or "sesame miso". The size is just right, the appearance is cute, and the taste is not too sweet. Also, the limited edition strawberry daifuku "Hana Ichigo" with large strawberries and sweet red bean paste was exquisite. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! (^人^)

Location: Kyomachi Kurume, Kurume City, a popular Japanese confectionery shop that I visited for the first time after it moved. They now have a parking lot, making it easier to visit. It was May 5th, Children's Day, so the place was crowded. The parking lot was always full, and when I called around 11 o'clock, they had already sold out of chimaki. I requested to reserve 5 popular strawberry daifuku. It's that time of year when you crave strawberries. Strawberry Daifuku - 216 yen each. The strawberries were juicy and had a vibrant color. The regular strawberry was the star of the show, with the other ingredients complementing it. I also purchased white kashiwa mochi - 108 yen, and kashiwa mochi with coarse red bean paste - 108 yen. Both had a refined sweetness. Taste: 36/50, Cost performance: 10/20, Atmosphere: 13/20, Service: 6/10. Overall rating: 65/100. Restaurant information: Kurume City, Kyomachi 234-109, 942-32-1472.

I visited a local wagashi shop called Toraya to buy some Japanese sweets as a gift for a friend's house visit. Since they moved to a new location, they now have a parking lot, which is convenient as we don't have to park on the street anymore. The store is spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and efficiently packed the items with a smile. I bought chilled kuzu (matcha, strawberry, coffee), kurumi yubeshi, imo kintsuba, and dojokusa ohagi (6 pieces) as gifts. The ohagi was for an offering. We enjoyed the tea ceremony with a full set of matcha utensils. The kuzu filling was whipped cream (^.^) The guests loved the matcha and delicious sweets, and we had a great time. It was delicious, thank you for the wonderful meal.

I enter a little alley on the back side of JR Kurume Station. It might be a little hard to find... I sometimes stop by Toraya when I want some tea sweets or when I want to bring a little souvenir. This time, I visited because I have guests coming over. The Hana Ichigo (strawberry daifuku) is around 180 yen. A big sweet strawberry is wrapped in a refined sweet bean paste, and then wrapped in a thin, fluffy double-layered mochi. Delicious (*´∀`)♪ It's a bite-sized treat that you can eat in one go, but I cut it in half and enjoyed it slowly. The Sakura Mochi is 108 yen. The combination of salty and sweet flavors is exquisite♪ I just took a big bite of this one (laughs). The size, sweetness, and price of these Japanese sweets are just right for me ("⌒∇⌒") Thank you for the meal. I felt spring a little early. Next time, I'll come to buy some dango.

The dumplings here are the most delicious compared to any other Japanese confectionery shop! Other sweets are also elegant and incredibly tasty, but in terms of cost-performance, the dumplings are unmatched!

Located in front of JR Kurume Station. Not the Toraya over there. This is a well-known Toraya. A popular local shop. People come here non-stop. Strawberry daifuku sells out in the afternoon.

Seasonal limited edition strawberry daifuku (*´∀`*) The filling is red bean paste with whole beans that lingers in the mouth a bit, but I still love strawberry daifuku!
