Soft serve ice cream for 350 yen at the confectionery shop "Sun Kuroujin" in Asahikawa. There are various types of soft serve ice cream, and this one has a unique feature of being rolled up like a sushi roll, giving it a substantial volume. The staff's rolling technique is impressive. It has a slightly lower water content, with a rich and smooth taste due to the presence of fresh cream. The sustainable cone is also distinctive with an unfamiliar shape. Overall, it was a very delicious soft serve ice cream.

Original Milk Soft Serve for 350 yen (tax included). It has a beautiful swirl, a slightly rich taste with the flavor of milk, and a smooth texture, making it delicious. It has a decent portion size. There is outdoor seating available. It tasted even better because it was hot outside.

I visited on a regular day. This is a long-established store run by the company Roba Kashi-shi, which has been in business as a confectionery shop since 1929. In Hokkaido, Kurasu is famous, right? The store, which opened in 2000, is made of stone and spacious. This time, I tried: - Warabi Mochi Soft Serve Ice Cream ¥400 - Grilled Walnut Soy Sauce Daifuku ¥150 - Azu-chan (sweet red bean paste bun) ¥155 - Kabo-chan (sweet potato bun) ¥155 - Maimo-chan (purple sweet potato bun) ¥155 - Kurasu "Cheese" ¥150 - Pujin (30% off) ¥320. I went in the evening, so there were discounted items. I had the soft serve ice cream, soy sauce daifuku, and pujin. The soft serve ice cream was rich with the flavor of milk and filled with four pieces of warabi mochi, with sweetness coming later. The grilled walnut soy sauce daifuku had a soy sauce flavor like rice crackers, not very sweet, with walnuts as an accent making it easy to eat. Pujin is a Brazilian pudding, tasting like pudding but with no egg flavor, more like gelatin. There was a cocoa sponge at the bottom that was slightly bitter. Everything was delicious. Perfect for souvenirs too. Thank you for the meal.

Yesterday, I stopped by THE SUN Kuramoto main store in Kagura on my way back from Asahikawa. I bought frozen cream-filled anpan, frozen cheese fondue bread, a pack of 3 Yomogi mochi, okoge-kko, and soft karinto. When I got home and shared them with my wife, the cream-filled anpan had the perfect balance of red bean paste and cream, not too sweet and very delicious. The cheese fondue bread, when thawed and microwaved for 1 minute, was hot, creamy, and tasty. The soft karinto was firm and had a stick-like doughnut texture, and it was very delicious.

I visited "The Sun Kurouto Main Store" on April 6th. My last visit was on July 24, 2021. I visited the store for shopping purposes. It is a brand of Rokashi-ya Tsukasa, a company based in Asahikawa. The Japanese confectionery line is called "The Sun Kurouto" and the Western confectionery line is called "Rotel de Hokkuraku Club." Their main item is "Kurou," which is quite famous. The building is a renovated stone warehouse, giving off a simple yet strong impression. It was originally a stone warehouse from the closed Tsurugasaki Sake Brewery, which was relocated. The entrance has a well-built snowman character in the windbreak room. I wonder if it has a name? In warmer seasons, it is moved outside. There used to be a cafe on the 1st floor where you could enjoy cold brew coffee. There were about four tower-shaped cold brew coffee machines lined up, which was quite impressive. This was where cold brew coffee made its debut. It was later relocated to the 2nd floor as "Cafe Platanus," but it seems to be inactive now. Perhaps due to the pandemic, there are no more sample items displayed as before. Today's purchases: - Milk Original Soft Serve (Cup) 350 yen - Okogekko 450 yen - Kurou... I didn't take a photo... The Milk Original Soft Serve (Cup) comes in cup or cone options this season. During peak season, they also offer bracken rice cake soft serve, but unfortunately, it's not available now. The soft serve machines are Sunyo SSF-M161PN and SSF-M440P. The cup comes with a sturdy plastic spoon, which is a nice touch. The flavor is quite rich. Personally, I prefer it to be a bit smoother. Okogekko is a rice cracker snack. It is made by Kamakumeika Co., Ltd., probably as an OEM. MUJI also has a similar product called "Okoge Agemochi," but this one from Kamakumeika has a crispy texture and a delightful soy sauce flavor that spreads in your mouth. Thank you for the meal.

Tomorrow is finally the day before moving! Let's go buy some snacks to give to the new colleagues at work and the neighbors at the new place!! But what should I get for Asahikawa souvenirs? Tsuboya is plain... (laughs) Vitamin Castella, I can't take responsibility if I get dehydrated... (laughs) Asahimame... I have no idea... (laughs) So, it's "The Sun Kurando Honten" shop. It's a super famous confectionery near Kagurazaka Park (^^; Well, this should be the place to go~ (laughs) Actually, even though it's a super famous shop, it's my first visit. The reason is, my wife is a hardcore Obihiro person, so when it comes to confectionery shops around here, we always go to "Rokkatei Kagurazaka" shop (^^; Sometimes it's so bad that on the way back from "Tsuboya Kihanomori" shop, she'll say "I need a little more~" and we'll stop by "Rokkatei Kagurazaka" shop ( ̄ー ̄) The shop is really spacious, and they not only sell sweets but also bread, so they have a wide range of products. Of course, the sweets I bought are the ones that have mixed reviews~♪ Kuroume Assortment... 24 pieces for 3,240 yen (tax included). I ate the leftovers that I gave out. The white chocolate is subtly sweet, not interfering with the overly sweet impression of the dough, and it's delicious. On the other hand, the milk chocolate is too sweet because milk chocolate itself is sweet, so it feels too heavy. The white chocolate is tastier. Mitarashi Dango... 2 for 220 yen (tax included). The soy sauce dressing is sweet and savory, but the problem is that the taste of the dango itself is too strong... I thought a more subtle flavor of dango would be better suited to this soy sauce dressing.

"The Sun's Kuraou Subre Chocolate Chestnut 4-piece set" 648 yen. The Kuraou from The Sun has become a staple souvenir from Asahikawa. The package design is cute, and the chestnut is limited to the season, so I tried it. The appearance is not much different from other products, but the chestnut inside is rich and perfect for chestnut lovers. It's delicious!"

In December 2022, my partner's mother requested a souvenir called "Kamagoshi Kura" SUN Kurabito. I initially thought it was Kura-namazake, but she has no interest in that. Turns out, she doesn't like it at all. Maybe it's not popular after all. I ended up buying it twice and it was a big hit. I was curious about why it's so delicious, so I tried one. The skin of the manju is incredibly thin, I've never seen such a thin manju before. It's mostly red bean paste, with just the right amount of sweetness. I see, so that's the secret to its popularity. Even though I don't usually eat red bean paste, it seems like this is the best souvenir for red bean paste lovers. I don't personally think so! (laughs) Thank you for the meal.

"TheSun Kuroudo Honten" located on top of the Kaguraoka Hill in Asahikawa City. Open from 9:00 to 18:00, closed on Sundays. Parking available, takeout available. The popular "Kurasou" is a must-try. Known for its soft serve ice cream, we tried the original milk flavor in a cup for 350 yen. The location on the hill is lovely, despite the busy traffic. The soft serve had a strong milk flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, making it a refreshing treat. Enjoying it outside on a warm day added to the experience.

My favorite Mont Blanc went through a big change... The green filling with yellow paste in the photo was the old version, now it has been renewed to a half-transparent brown paste. This Mont Blanc from the shop doesn't use whipped cream in the filling, so it is refreshing and not too heavy! But still, they had to renew it. What have they done to my Mont Blanc! I was prepared to complain if I was disappointed, but I bought it anyway. Oh? It seems like there is even more chestnut flavor than before? Maybe I don't need to call to complain after all. The whipped cream inside also has a chestnut flavor. Visually, I think the previous color combination was better, but I'm relieved that my favorite didn't decrease in quality.

I remember the famous words of the ancient Roman general Caesar, "I came, I saw, I bought", but be careful as the kanji characters are slightly different. In ancient Rome, the common people's staple food was flat bread. Here at The Sun Kuranin Honten, they sell flat Kuranama-style fresh sablé cookies, allowing me to experience a taste of the distant historical world. I executed the act of "I came, I saw, I bought". These moist and sweet sablé cookies with a fresh texture served as a delightful souvenir. Before returning from Asahikawa to Sapporo, I used a local discount coupon for accommodation and had only two days left to use the Hokkaido support coupon. Therefore, at The Sun Kuranin Honten, I bought Kuranama cookies for souvenirs and for home, as well as bread and apple pie. The Kuranama cookies contain ingredients like margarine that I don't usually eat much at home, but the moist texture, sweetness, and flavors of cheese and chocolate in these fresh sablé cookies were delicious. I enjoyed a variety of them with coffee. Although I wanted to buy apple pie at a famous shop on the way back, I bought it here and enjoyed the taste of The Sun Kuranin Honten's apple pie this time. It is made mainly from Hokkaido wheat flour, domestic apples, potatoes, milk, and cane sugar, offering a good texture with plenty of apples and a refreshing sweetness.

This is a white chocolate-filled raw sablé from the "Anywhere Footprint Leaving Squad". It is a moist and soft sablé with a good mouthfeel that you can easily munch on without needing a drink. The moderate sweetness is also nice. It's dangerous for those who are conscious of calories at this age, haha.

Seasonal limited edition! "Seasonal Kuraso Setouchi Lemon" 4 pieces now on sale! "Kuraso Cheese" 4 pieces Seasonal Kuraso, a limited edition lemon-flavored Kuraso. Made with Setouchi lemons, it has a subtle acidity that is delicious! What caught my eye at the store today was the 4 characters released today. I had to buy it! The taste is a combination of the moistness of Kuraso and the deliciousness of cheese. As I imagined, cheese goes well with it!

"The name 'Shuroll Platanes Namiki' comes from the motif of the Platanus tree-lined avenue in Kagurazaka where The Sun Kurouto is located. The shoe's crust and custard cream contain finely chopped chestnuts. The chestnut bits and the cream's sweetness matched perfectly in this delicious roll cake."

I had been thinking about visiting this famous sweets shop for a while, and today was my first visit. The shop is located in a historical building made of stone. I bought some gifts for tomorrow and got myself some steamed rice cakes and barley sweets. The steamed rice cakes were chewy and delicious, I definitely want to try them again.

Visited Sun Kurando to purchase souvenirs for friends. This place is a classic for souvenirs! I bought the Zoukiyo chocolate lemon, and received a free soft serve ice cream coupon for purchases over 2000 yen. I enjoyed the delicious soft serve ice cream as well!

At The Sun main store, I came across this honey lemon cake while looking for souvenirs. The phrase "makes you want to try it" really caught my attention. Lemon cake has always been a classic Western confectionery, but lemon baumkuchen was a first for me. It comes with a plastic knife, so you can enjoy it anywhere. The layers of sponge cake with a hint of lemon scent stimulate your appetite. This would go well with black tea.

A pastry shop near Kaguraoka Park in Asahikawa City. I have used it several times in the past, but I stopped by after a long time on my way back from a trip. The stylish building, like a stone warehouse, is quite spacious inside, selling various types of pastries such as Western and Japanese sweets. This time, I bought some of their famous "Kurou" for home use, along with a few other pastries. Kurou is a soft-textured sablé with fillings like raw chocolate inside. All the pastries were reasonably priced and tasted good, but I personally found Kurou to be the most delicious. The parking space is also spacious and easy to use, so I think it's a good place to buy souvenirs from Asahikawa.

I went to buy some snacks. I bought a set of dorayaki and Kura Ichigo. They wrapped it in a gift wrapping, so I couldn't take a picture... I also bought a steamed Kura for home. It has smooth red bean paste and moist steamed bun? Is that what it's called? Anyway, it's incredibly delicious! They also had cakes and soft serve ice cream, so I'll try buying those next time (*´∇`*) The store had a big Christmas tree and it was really nice. It was a Saturday and there were quite a few customers, so I didn't take any pictures... (too bad) If you ever come to Asahikawa, I highly recommend checking it out! They have a lot of samples available, so you can actually try before you buy!
