I was torn between another famous restaurant nearby, but I decided to visit this one for some reason. Since it was early evening, there was only one other customer. I purchased a ticket at the ticket machine at the entrance. I didn't feel like eating a lot, so I chose the "Vegetable Set Meal for 660 yen including tax" (healthy choice). As soon as I sat down at the table, the rice and miso soup set was served. I was looking forward to the side dishes, but they were not on the table. Apparently, due to COVID, they are now served in small dishes upon request. I asked for them and got pickled mustard greens and bean sprouts with tempura. The tempura included green peppers, lotus root, burdock root, onions, pumpkin, and shiitake mushrooms. Unfortunately, the rice was a bit clumpy. Besides tempura dipping sauce, there was also natural salt and matcha salt on the table, which was nice. There was a bit less grated radish in the tempura sauce. They didn't have squid salted guts, but it was slightly cheaper than the famous Hakata restaurant.

Near Kokura Station in Fukuoka, there is a place called "Tenzan". They serve freshly fried tempura in a unique way, placing it on an oil-draining tray in order. The tempura set meal (lotus root, pumpkin, white fish, squid, shrimp, pork) costs 880 yen and comes with small dishes, rice, and miso soup. The freshly fried tempura is truly delicious. The white fish tempura, in particular, is perfectly cooked.

I stopped by for lunch. The interior of the restaurant is clean. There isn't much decoration. The menu mainly consists of set meals. They write not only the menu names but also the contents, so I carefully consider my options. Lately, there has been talk of a Hakata style, where a tray for draining oil is provided first, and the dishes are served in the order they are ready. Indeed, in places like Tokyo, everything is served all at once. It feels a bit different. There are several types of salt on the table, but my preference is for tempura dipping sauce. In Kyushu, I think tempura dipping sauce tends to be a bit sweet, and this place is no exception. It's delicious. When the sauce is served, I soak everything in it before eating. I thought the set meal was a good deal, but I felt a bit of a price increase for additional items. Or maybe the set meal is just too good of a deal... A single shiso leaf for 100 yen. Well, when you think about it, that's how it is in many places. Baby corn also for 100 yen. Yeah, that seems normal. The set meal is really a good deal... Overall, I'm very satisfied. Especially, these days it's becoming rare to find a place outside of chains where you can easily get tempura. It's not in my neighborhood, so I can't come here often, but I feel like I've found a good restaurant.

I used it for lunch. It was lunchtime, but luckily there was only one customer ahead of me, so I was able to get in quickly. It operates on a food ticket system. I ordered the tempura set meal and opted for a large serving of rice. The staff fried each piece of tempura one by one and placed them on a plate in front of me. It was nice to be able to enjoy them freshly fried. The tempura was crispy, almost on the firm side. You could season it yourself as you liked. The taste was average. The loud chatting of the staff was a bit distracting, but it was probably just a one-time thing.

In front of Kokura Station, there are restaurants where you can eat and drink, but tonight I wanted to eat tempura so I came to "Tempura Tenzan" restaurant. As soon as I entered the restaurant, there was a ticket machine on the right. I bought a ticket for the "Tempura Set Meal". The tempura set meal includes 6 pieces of tempura, 2 side dishes, miso soup, and rice (large, medium, small). The tempura consists of "2 types of vegetables", "shrimp", "squid", "white fish", and "pork". The freshly fried tempura is brought one by one. First, rice, miso soup, bean sprout namul, simmered kelp, and tempura dipping sauce arrived. The two side dishes are all-you-can-eat. After waiting for about 6 minutes, "eggplant" and "pumpkin" arrived. Then, "white fish" and "squid" arrived, followed by "shrimp" and "pork". The tempura batter is crispy and incredibly delicious. I couldn't stop eating the rice. Additional orders start from 100 yen, making it a very cost-effective restaurant. In addition to the tempura dipping sauce, there are also "rock salt", "ginger salt", "garlic salt", and "matcha salt", so you can enjoy a variety of flavors. I finished everything. Thank you for the meal.

I didn't have much time, so I tried the neighboring Matsuya for the first time. I purchased a Tempura set meal from the ticket machine and sat down. The Tempura was served in the order it was fried. The impression was neither good nor bad, but it filled my stomach. It's convenient to be able to eat Tempura easily. There are Tempura restaurants nearby, but personally, I prefer the other one because their Tempura rice is extremely delicious. Haha. Thank you for the meal.

This is my first post, even though I have been to Kokura for work many times. I found a shop near the station where you can eat freshly fried tempura. Despite the rain, I was able to get there without getting too wet. The shop has a spacious interior and operates with a cash-only ticket machine. I ordered the tempura set meal for 880 yen, and the rice was free for a large portion. Additional tempura orders are very affordable, but I couldn't eat too much this time. There were many types of salt to choose from, which was enjoyable. I will definitely come back again!

Great deal for a night out! "Tenzan" in Kokura After finishing work in Kokura, I had 20 minutes until the departure time of the JR limited express train. So, of course, I decided to have a drink near the station. Despite the ongoing redevelopment around the station, there is still a place called "Tenzan" that retains a nostalgic atmosphere on the southwest side. This place offers cheap tempura, with a menu for daytime drinking at 500 yen and nighttime drinking at 600 yen. I opted for the nighttime drinking set, which includes a third beer, two small dishes, two types of vegetables, and white fish tempura, all for 600 yen. It's so cheap, almost like the tempura is free! There are various types of salt on the table as well. The individual tempura items are priced at 100 yen each, making this place a great find near the station. Isn't it better to have a place like this rather than those chain restaurants that are often featured on TV? - Restaurant Information Tenzan 2-5-13 Kyomachi, Kokura Kita-ku, Kitakyushu City Opening hours: 11:00-22:00

I was debating whether to go to "Tempura Teishoku Fujishima" or this place, but I've been to the former many times, so I was lured by the all-you-can-eat side dishes and decided to enter Tenzen. As soon as I entered, I saw the ticket machine, one customer inside, and a counter. I was guided to the counter and seated. I handed over the ticket for the Ebi Tempura set, and for the side dishes...? You can also choose the amount of rice, but... I thought the side dishes would go well with the rice, but it was a bit different from what I imagined. It wasn't even something worth advertising as all-you-can-eat... The shrimp and pumpkin arrived first, so I tried the first shrimp with salt (T ^ T). This shrimp is the type with zero springy texture that you get on top of udon noodles. This is the type that doesn't make the rice go down easily. The gap between the points on Tabelog and the actual experience was quite significant... I should have just gone to Fujishima. (_ _).。o○ The shrimp tempura batter was crispy, but the flesh was watery and lacking substance, which was truly disappointing.

Seafood set meal for 1380 yen. I had to change my plans last minute and come to this restaurant because the other one I wanted to go to was mysteriously closed. It was raining and I didn't feel like walking. You order using a ticket machine system. You buy a meal ticket and hand it to the staff, and they bring out the fried items as they are ready. You can choose the size of the rice (small, medium, large) and the tempura was average overall. The batter was a bit coarse and the quality of the ingredients was somewhat cheap, but it was acceptable. That's how my tempura set meal went.

I was told by my work colleagues that this place is great, so my partner and I decided to check it out. The place is called "Tempura Tenzan." What's amazing is that you can have one drink and three pieces of tempura for just 500 yen including tax. It's so cheap! I ordered a draft beer. Cheers! The daytime alcohol here is really good! The bean sprout namul and spicy pickled vegetables were served as a complimentary and all-you-can-eat side dish. The bean sprouts were so good that I had seconds. The eggplant, green pepper, and white fish tempura were brought to our table freshly fried by the chef. This service was really nice because the tempura was even more delicious when freshly fried. Even my partner, who doesn't like green peppers, said they were delicious and finished them all. The pumpkin, shrimp, and scallop tempura were all delicious! The pumpkin was sweet, the shrimp was plump, and the scallop had a nice aroma. The chicken thigh, sweet potato, and squid tempura were also great! The chicken thigh had a light flavor, the sweet potato was soft and sweet, and the squid was incredibly tender. Additional drinks start from 300 yen, so you can enjoy drinking without worrying about the cost. You pay for additional orders at your table each time. The service was great, the food was cheap and delicious, so this place is really fantastic. My partner and I decided we'll come back here for daytime drinks again. Thank you for the meal. We'll be back again!

I arrived in Kokura for a business trip and had some time before checking into the hotel. I decided to explore Kokura Castle and the riverside area of Murasaki-gawa. It was a warm day for the end of February, so I stopped for a beer and tempura at a local restaurant. I ordered three tempura items and a draft beer for only ¥500. The tempura was delicious and freshly fried. I also ended up getting an extra onion and lotus root tempura for free. I realized later that the beer was a cheap brand, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. After finishing my meal, I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full.

I had some business in Kokura and planned to stay until the evening. For lunch on a holiday, I chose "Tempura Tenzan," located just a 1-minute walk from Kokura Station. I ordered the "Tenzan set meal" and the "day drinking set" from the ticket machine at the entrance. The restaurant serves freshly fried tempura in sequence. First, I enjoyed a draft beer from the "day drinking set." Then, they served rice and miso soup from the set meal, followed by tempura of green pepper, pumpkin, white fish, squid, chicken thigh, pork slices, and shrimp. Everything was delicious and crispy. It's great to be able to drink alcohol in the middle of the day. I recommend this place for tempura when you're near Kokura Station.

- Genre: Tempura - Area: Around JR Kokura Station, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City - Access: 3 minutes on foot from JR Kokura Station - Parking: Not available (Coin parking nearby) - Credit card payment: Not available - Frequency of visit: First time - Number of reviews: 1st visit On this day, I happened to visit "Tempura Tenzan." Exterior and Interior: This tempura restaurant is located near JR Kokura Station in Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City. It has a simple and down-to-earth appearance typical of a local or station-side tempura restaurant. The interior has a TV and is non-smoking. Seating: There are 10 counter seats and 4 tables for 4 people each. Menu Structure: They use a ticket vending machine system. It may be a bit confusing if you are not familiar with it, but they mainly offer set meals with the option for individual items. Unlike some places, rice refills are not free, so be cautious if you have a big appetite. On the table, they provide shichimi (seven-spice blend), salt, matcha salt, and karashi (spicy mustard). The items I ordered were: - Chicken tempura set meal (770 yen, tax included): The set includes two pieces each of thigh meat and breast meat tempura, along with two vegetable tempura items. The meal comes with rice, miso soup, and tenjiru soup, with the tempura being added to the plate one by one, allowing you to enjoy them freshly fried. The overall taste is light, which may feel a bit lacking for some, but it makes for easy and enjoyable eating. The thigh meat tempura is just before transitioning into karaage (Japanese fried chicken), the breast meat is not dry, and the vegetables are nasu (eggplant) and kabocha (pumpkin). The pumpkin was surprisingly the most delicious. Strong Points: Light and easy to eat, with a nice flavor. Service: Slightly better than average. Overall: I noticed at the end of my visit that they had switched to a self-declaration system for side dishes like pickles due to the COVID situation. I personally think it's best to enjoy some tempura while sipping on a bottled beer and casually visiting this place. Thank you for the meal.

I used it for dinner on a business trip to Kokura. I ordered a tempura set meal for 760 yen and a Clear Asahi beer for 290 yen. It's a style where you buy food tickets from a vending machine. The tempura included green pepper, eggplant, pumpkin in the first round, squid, smelt fish in the second round, and shrimp, chicken in the third round. The tempura was freshly fried, hot, and crispy. I thought the tempura was quite delicious. The rice in the set meal was quite small and hard. The miso soup was a bit light in flavor. Thank you for the meal.

I can't remember the details because it's been two months since I posted, but... I think it was around ¥600 for a highball and 2 (or was it 3?) pieces of tempura, which is great for drinkers. You can also choose other drinks besides highball. They have a variety of options, including not just set meals but also large portions of tempura, making it perfect for drinking alone. It's nice to be able to enjoy freshly fried tempura. How about enjoying a casual drink? [Of course, you can also have a meal!]

The following content is a review of the restaurant "Tempura Tenzan" and a personal experience with receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The reviewer did not experience significant side effects from the vaccine, only a slight fever. The review then transitions to a previous visit to the restaurant "Tempura Tenzan" near Kokura Station, describing the atmosphere, menu, and overall impression of the tempura dishes. The reviewer found the tempura to be well-cooked and satisfying, but not particularly memorable.

◆Kitakyushu, Kokura, Tempura, Tenzan◆ I took a stroll around Kokura Station and stumbled upon this restaurant called Tempura Tenzan. It's located right near Kokura Castle's entrance (south exit). Look for the adult shop on the 2nd floor as a landmark! (What kind of landmark is that, haha) I ordered the evening drink set for 600 yen, which includes a choice of beer, shochu, or highball, along with four pieces of tempura. Besides counter seats, they also have table seating available. I enjoyed my beer with side dishes like bean sprouts and pickled vegetables, while munching on tempura of okra, bell pepper, squid, and chicken tenderloin. I should have mentioned in advance that I don't eat chicken tenderloin, but overall, for 600 yen, it was definitely worth it. Even without eating the chicken, it was a good deal. If this restaurant was located between my workplace and home, I would definitely visit frequently. Thanks for the meal!

I experienced a half-drunken state at Kokura Station ♬ Kokura Station, Tempura, Tenshin Maido! This is Yamadera. On this day, I was exploring Kokura in Kitakyushu and came across an interesting shop! What! Day drinking for 500 yen!! I have to check this out~ The shop is called Tempura Tenzen. I also uploaded a video on YouTube, so please check it out if you're interested. I immediately went inside the shop~ On the left side as you enter, there are table seats, and on the right side, there are counter seats. There is a ticket machine at the entrance, so I purchased a 500 yen day drinking set ticket~ You can choose from beer, shochu, or highball for the set drink (^^♪ I chose a highball! By the way, there were side dishes for all-you-can-eat on the counter! You can enjoy these with your drinks~ The spicy takana was incredibly delicious and the best (^^♪ However, the cost performance of 500 yen for this set is great, right? The tempura was green pepper, eggplant, and chicken breast~ They were all very delicious with a crispy coating! Of course, I couldn't just stop at one coin (lol) so I added sweet potato shochu for 300 yen! I also added squid for 130 yen! The squid was very tender and delicious as well! Additionally, I added onion for 90 yen and kisu fish for 160 yen (^^♪ Everything was delicious, and I had a wonderful time enjoying my drinks here! A revisit is definitely confirmed. Thank you for the meal. ☆Basic Information☆ Address: 2-5-13 Kyomachi, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Sasaki Building 1F Closed on: Not specified Business hours: From 11:00 Difficulty of entering alone: ★☆☆☆☆ (easy)

Happy New Year! Today, for the first time this year, I had a meal at Tenzen, located along the road between Makudo and Teria. I ordered the Tenzen set meal, a side of mackerel, and a draft beer. It was a nice change to enjoy a beer outside. The tempura in the set meal included shrimp, squid, white fish, chicken thigh, pork, green pepper, eggplant, and pumpkin, but it felt a bit lacking so I added the mackerel. The tempura was surprisingly crispy and delicious, although the oil seemed a bit heavy, and the rice was a bit mushy. I also like Fujishima nearby, but next time I pass through the city center, I might stop by another tempura restaurant for a change. Thank you for the meal!

I saw a super cheap tempura restaurant open in front of Kokura Station right after it opened. I thought about going because no one had posted a review yet, but I got busy and forgot about it. By the time I remembered, someone had already posted the first review, so I'm only visiting now. Tempura is something that people don't usually make at home because it uses a lot of oil and makes a mess in the kitchen. If you have a big family, it's not a big deal, but for me, it's a hassle. So, being able to eat tempura at a low price is a big plus. When it comes to tempura, it shouldn't be that expensive for restaurants to make, so it's a win-win situation. Of course, there's a big difference between poorly fried tempura and expertly fried tempura. When I went, there weren't many people, and they fried each piece carefully. However, I felt like something was missing from all the tempura. The batter was too thick, and while the cooking was done correctly, it seemed like too much moisture had evaporated. The oil didn't have a nice aroma either. It's impossible to expect them to reach the skill level of a veteran tempura chef right away, so maybe they could consider adding something like salted squid as a topping, even if it raises the price a bit. Overall, it's still great to be able to eat tempura at a low cost, but there's room for improvement.
