A shop that is particular about domestically produced eel. It is always crowded during lunchtime. When I come to Kyushu, I always regret it if I don't have the steamed eel. They also steam the rice together, so it was well-balanced and delicious. Looking forward to the next opportunity.

I had a job in Karata Town, so I got off at Kokura Higashi IC and first stopped for a meal. (laughs) I was in the mood for eel, so I headed to "Chikurin-tei Tsuda Main Store". Chikurin-tei has 4 stores mainly in Kitakyushu. They offer eel dishes made with domestic eel at reasonable prices. It's a specialty eel restaurant where you can enjoy delicious eel in a clean and bright store. I arrived at 11:15. About 1/3 of the parking lot was already full, showing that it's a popular restaurant. This was my first time at the Tsuda Main Store, but just like the other branches, the staff's service was smooth. At the entrance, it was written "Today's eel is from Kagoshima". I informed them that I was visiting alone and was guided to a tatami room on the right side. The table was for 4 people, but I had it all to myself. (^^)v I looked at the menu. The weekday limited menu "Kaguya-hime Set (1,400 yen, tax included)" caught my eye. It comes with mini eel steamed over rice, pickles, clear soup, cold Chinese noodles, and sweet red bean soup. I already had the image of Chikurin-tei offering delicious eel at a reasonable price, but this set was even more cost-effective. However, there was one problem... Considering the cost-performance, it's a great deal, but for big eaters, the portion might not be enough due to the name "Kaguya-hime Set". What should I do...? Suddenly, I looked outside the tatami room and saw a soba restaurant next door. I had an idea! First, I'll have the great value "Kaguya-hime Set". Depending on my appetite, I'll move to the soba restaurant next door. (laughs) The serving time was about 10 minutes. When I opened the steamer, there were 3 pieces of eel. The skin was crispy and the rice underneath wasn't sticky. It was steamed, but the light texture was of high quality, typical of an eel specialty restaurant. The mini steamer was quickly finished due to its delicious taste. (laughs) The menu mentioned "clear soup", but when I opened it, it was "eel liver soup". Another pleasant surprise. I poured the dedicated broth over the cold noodles and finished with sweet red bean soup. All this for 1,400 yen, the cost-performance is outstanding. I enjoyed it. I don't know why, but my appetite seems to have increased even more than before eating... Maybe I should try the place next door. (laughs) Thank you for the meal.

I visited a long-established eel restaurant that I have been going to since I was a child. As it's getting colder, I was craving steamed eel in a steamer, so I decided to visit this time. Not only the taste, but I am always very satisfied with the cost performance, customer service, and the speed at which the dishes are served. This is a popular local restaurant, so please be aware that there is usually a wait on weekends. It's so delicious, so I highly recommend it if you have the opportunity to visit Kokura!

After seeing the bell-shaped rock at the Sho-Hachimangu Shrine that Tanjiro cut, they visited this restaurant around 5:00 PM on a Sunday with two people. The eel bowl for 1,950 yen had a sweet and savory flavor, with the eel being just the right texture. The steamed dish for 1,950 yen was described as a popular item, with the rice soaked in sauce and served piping hot. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived around 11:40 on Saturday. The restaurant was full and there were people waiting outside. Got a ticket from the machine next to the register. I was number 9 in line. Waited for about 15 minutes and then got seated. Ordered the special eel rice bowl for 2,350 yen. Even though it's the special, it's surprisingly cheap! It was served in about 15 minutes. The eel had a slightly steamed texture, soft but still had a nice bounce to it and was delicious. It was also quite fatty. However, the rice was a bit soft, which was a bit disappointing. Maybe it was just today? Overall, it was a delicious meal.

I attended a funeral and stopped by a restaurant. I arrived at around 11:50 and got a number ticket from the reception machine. I was the 8th group to be called. It took about 1 hour until I was seated. I ordered the eel rice bowl for 2,100 yen, and it took 30 minutes for it to arrive. Oh boy, the wait was long. It's understandable though, as it's the Bon holiday period. There seemed to be a lot of takeout orders. The staff and kitchen were quite busy, but I wish they would wear masks.

Today is "Doyo no Ushi no Hi" (Midsummer Day of the Ox), so I went to eat eel. When I arrived, there was a long line, which was surprising. I didn't expect the restaurant to be so crowded. We had to wait for 15 groups ahead of us. We received a ticket for our turn inside the restaurant. After about 30 minutes, it was our turn. They were also selling eel bento boxes outside. I was amazed by how cheap the prices were when I saw the menu. I didn't have high expectations for the taste because of the prices, but it was actually delicious. The sauce was slightly sweet and suited my taste. The eel was thick, tender, and crispy in some parts. It was a great value restaurant. By the way, there was a sign at the entrance saying that masks are not required. I agree with this opinion, so I recommend this restaurant.

I came to Fukuoka to visit my friend in Kokura who I've known for 20 years during the New Year holidays, so we decided to meet up. We met at Kokura Station in the evening and he took me to this restaurant. The sauce was sweet and easy to eat, very delicious. I definitely want to visit again when I come to the Kokura area.

Before heading to the night shift, I was looking for a place to have dinner. I remembered a restaurant that I couldn't get into before because it was crowded with customers. That was this restaurant. It's a reasonably priced eel restaurant. I decided to give it a try. I drove there and arrived around 6:30 PM. There were about 10 customers in the restaurant's table seating area. I was seated at an available table and checked the menu. Since I hadn't done much research, I decided to choose based on intuition. I called a waiter using the buzzer and ordered the special deluxe eel rice bowl. They offered to give me extra rice for free, so I accepted. It arrived in about 10 minutes. It was quite a generous portion. I took a bite of the eel rice bowl. It was delicious. The eel was tender and had a fluffy texture. The eel that day was from Kagoshima. The sauce was slightly sweet and mild, and even when I poured plenty over the eel, it felt a bit lacking... The rolled omelette was beautiful. The eel liver was lightly seasoned. The tofu and pickles were average. The rice kept disappearing quickly. Because I got the extra rice, it was quite a hearty meal. I ate it with gusto and finished it in no time. It's popular because you can enjoy eel at a reasonable price. It seems that they have shortened their business hours now. This time it cost me 2,350 yen. The extra rice is free, so I think it's reasonably priced. It was delicious. I will come back again.

On this day, I had a business trip to Arata, Kokura Minami Ward. After finishing my morning tasks, I was thinking about where to have lunch. Since I was not familiar with the area, I searched on my smartphone and decided to go to Takebayashitei Tsuda Honten, which was close to my business location. I arrived around 11:30 am. The restaurant didn't have counter seats, so even though I was alone, I was seated at a table for four. I ordered the eel rice bowl (special) which cost 2350 yen including tax. First, they served tea and eel bones. Then, the eel rice bowl (special) arrived. I opened the lid of the box to reveal six pieces of eel on top of rice with a piece of rolled omelette. The eel had tender flesh and a slightly crispy skin. The sauce was subtly sweet. I finished the meal in no time. The restaurant offers both eel rice bowls and eel bowls at the same price, 1950 yen including tax for regular and 2350 yen including tax for special, which I found very reasonable compared to other places. The other customers seemed to be mostly local elderly people, giving the place a homely feel. Takebayashitei has three branches in Kitakyushu, including this main store, and also a branch in Shingu, Kasuya District. I will definitely visit again for their affordable and delicious eel dishes.

I learned how to make pressure cooker rice from Mairebi-sama, but ended up buying a 120,000 yen rice cooker. Since then, whenever I eat out, the rice is just average. On a side note, why is there less side dish when the higher grade is more expensive than the premium one? The rice portion is generous even for a regular size!

I visited four eel restaurants in Kitakyushu in a row and decided to end my journey with one final solo visit. I ordered a set meal where the eel and rice were served separately. Worried about running out of rice due to the large portion of eel in the special set, I requested a large serving of rice (free of charge). The meal was served about 10 minutes after ordering. The amount of eel and rice was overwhelming, and I knew I had to finish it all. The eel was thick and tender, although lacking in bounce. The sauce was to my liking. Overall, it was great! The eel met my standards and the side dishes were delicious. They even provided extra sauce so you could adjust the flavor to your liking. Plus, the price was very affordable. I made a mistake in underestimating the portion size, but everything else was perfect. Personally, this restaurant is conveniently located for me. Whether you're looking for a hearty eel meal or a casual eel lunch, this place is a good choice. Thank you for the delicious and affordable eel set meal today!

Famous for his reliable taste buds, "Genba no Yukki" also praised this restaurant. I originally planned to go to the dining room at the nearby pachinko parlor, which had zero reviews, but I hesitated at the last minute, thinking, "Even though I call myself a zero review hunter, is it right to visit a place just because it's registered, even though I don't play pachinko?" So instead, I went to my favorite soba restaurant "Kikuya," but to my surprise, they had stopped evening service. I didn't know that. I thought about other nearby eateries - "Yakiniku King" had a strong smell, and I had recently been to "Hanasan Shokudo." So I decided to try "Chikurin Tei" for the first time. Honestly, the eel and liver were tasty but not outstanding. It's a flavor that everyone would find acceptable, even if it doesn't make you exclaim, "Delicious!" The sauce was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but the portion size was decent, and the prices were in the 2000 yen range, so it's a relatively casual place to visit. Therefore, I felt the appeal regarding the new coronavirus was a bit over the top. Not because of their principles or beliefs, but because a popular eel restaurant like this doesn't need to put up such attention-grabbing messages. In any case, it was a satisfying meal.

I aimed for the udon at the headquarters of the Buzen Uradachi-kai, but it was past 12 o'clock and there was a long line, plus it was raining. Due to my poor health, it was a bit too much for me. So, I decided to visit Takebayashi-tei instead. I was drawn to the name of the restaurant, which is similar to Takebayashi-tei in Ginza. The restaurant was not crowded, and the price of the eel dish was reasonable, considering the current high prices of eel. They use domestically sourced eel from Kagoshima and Miyazaki, which was reassuring. I ordered the special eel bowl for 2350 yen. The eel was slightly firm and the sauce was a bit thin, so I added more sauce and plenty of sansho pepper. They also provided warm towels, pickles, and liver soup. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of the food. However, after eating eel for the first time in a while, I found myself craving for "Yoshizuka Unaki". I would like to try it when I visit Hakata.

◉Genre: Eel ◉Area: Tsuda area, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: Less than 5 minutes by car from JR Shimozono Station ◉Parking: Available ◉Credit card payment: Not accepted ◉Number of visits: First time ◉Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I casually visited "Chikurin Tei Tsuda Main Store". ◇Exterior and Interior The exterior has a traditional Japanese house style, typical of an eel restaurant. The interior is also designed in a traditional Japanese style, with tatami mats that give a warm feeling. ◇Seating The seating is spacious, with both tatami and table seats available. ◇Menu The main focus is on eel dishes, such as kabayaki, seiro, shirayaki, served in a bento box or over rice. There are also eel dishes available a la carte for those who want to enjoy them with drinks in the evening. I ordered the following: - Una-ju (Eel over rice, large portion) - 1950 yen In addition to the eel dish, the meal also included liver sashimi, cold tofu, and pickles. The eel had a slightly crispy surface and a tender interior. The eel sauce was sweet and truly outstanding. The rice paired perfectly with the eel, and the scrambled egg garnish added a nice touch. The liver sashimi had a sweet flavor, which was perfect for nursing a hangover. The special grade eel was only 400 yen more than the regular, making it a great value for the quality. ◆Strengths Authentic eel dishes at a reasonable price. ◆Service Although the staff seemed quite busy, the service was good. ◆Overall It had been a while since my last visit, but the food was still delicious. It brought back memories of going eel hopping in Yukuhashi with my grandfather. I look forward to going again soon. By the way, the mini udon had an interesting Chinese-style flavor. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

I dislike Kanto-style eel that is steamed and then grilled. Eel tastes best when grilled without steaming, with a sweet sauce. One of the top eel restaurants in Kyushu, Takebayashi, offers a special eel dish for only 2350 yen, which is very reasonable! The eel is domestically sourced and the cost performance is excellent. The skin is crispy, the meat is cooked just right, and most importantly, the sauce is delicious. The fact that the sauce comes in a small bottle allows you to adjust the amount to your liking, which is a nice touch. Eel restaurants in Kyushu are truly delicious!

When I visited Fukuoka on a training trip, the client I visited treated me to a meal, so I don't know the exact cost. The meal they treated me to had 30% more horse mackerel. I'm not familiar with eel, but is it common for eel in Kyushu to have a crispy texture? In Kanto, it's usually steamed, right? I'm not sure, but the eel in Kyushu was fresh, fragrant, and delicious!

It was really delicious and the conversation was lively and fun. My husband, who ordered the special steamed eel, said that the eel was small and not thick because the price was low, which I thought was a bit extravagant. But the eel rice set that I ordered was delicious, the rice was tasty, and the tea-soaked rice at the end was so good that it lifted my spirits.♪♪
