I had a job in Karata Town, so I got off at Kokura Higashi IC and first stopped for a meal. (laughs) I was in the mood for eel, so I headed to "Chikurin-tei Tsuda Main Store". Chikurin-tei has 4 stores mainly in Kitakyushu. They offer eel dishes made with domestic eel at reasonable prices. It's a specialty eel restaurant where you can enjoy delicious eel in a clean and bright store. I arrived at 11:15. About 1/3 of the parking lot was already full, showing that it's a popular restaurant. This was my first time at the Tsuda Main Store, but just like the other branches, the staff's service was smooth. At the entrance, it was written "Today's eel is from Kagoshima". I informed them that I was visiting alone and was guided to a tatami room on the right side. The table was for 4 people, but I had it all to myself. (^^)v I looked at the menu. The weekday limited menu "Kaguya-hime Set (1,400 yen, tax included)" caught my eye. It comes with mini eel steamed over rice, pickles, clear soup, cold Chinese noodles, and sweet red bean soup. I already had the image of Chikurin-tei offering delicious eel at a reasonable price, but this set was even more cost-effective. However, there was one problem... Considering the cost-performance, it's a great deal, but for big eaters, the portion might not be enough due to the name "Kaguya-hime Set". What should I do...? Suddenly, I looked outside the tatami room and saw a soba restaurant next door. I had an idea! First, I'll have the great value "Kaguya-hime Set". Depending on my appetite, I'll move to the soba restaurant next door. (laughs) The serving time was about 10 minutes. When I opened the steamer, there were 3 pieces of eel. The skin was crispy and the rice underneath wasn't sticky. It was steamed, but the light texture was of high quality, typical of an eel specialty restaurant. The mini steamer was quickly finished due to its delicious taste. (laughs) The menu mentioned "clear soup", but when I opened it, it was "eel liver soup". Another pleasant surprise. I poured the dedicated broth over the cold noodles and finished with sweet red bean soup. All this for 1,400 yen, the cost-performance is outstanding. I enjoyed it. I don't know why, but my appetite seems to have increased even more than before eating... Maybe I should try the place next door. (laughs) Thank you for the meal.
