Butter chicken curry and salt koji fried chicken. This is a hidden gem creative dumpling shop located in an alley near Shin-Fukushima Station. Despite being a dumpling shop, it has a cafe-like atmosphere run by women. I wanted to eat dumplings, but I have a business meeting in the afternoon so I had to give up.
Lunch A for 800 yen includes butter chicken curry with 2 pieces of fried chicken, salad, soup, and 2 side dishes. It's nice to have all this for 800 yen. The butter chicken curry was delicious. It would have been even better if it came with a side of 2 dumplings.

Before entering, the restaurant was crowded and I had a feeling that it would be delicious. Although there were many staff members, they took their time cleaning up after the previous customers, which made me wish they would let us wait inside the store until they were done. The gyoza lunch was reasonably priced, and you could choose from two different portion sizes. The gyoza fillings included lotus root, shiso, pork, chicken, shrimp, and various others to choose from. They also had original creations of gyoza on the menu.

I have visited the hidden creative gyoza restaurant kukai in Fukushima for dinner a few times, but this was my first time trying their lunch menu. The lunch options range from 800 yen to 6 types of gyoza. This time, I chose the Gyoza Kara Plate for 900 yen. It came with 5 gyoza and a half portion of fried chicken. You can request extra rice, but it's self-service. The gyoza options include kukai gyoza, lotus root gyoza, shiso gyoza, pork belly gyoza, shrimp gyoza, and chicken salt vegetable gyoza. You can choose 2 types for the large plate. This time, I chose the shrimp gyoza. Both the gyoza and fried chicken were delicious! The rice was mixed grain rice. The restaurant is on the second floor with comfortable seating like sofas, making it suitable for groups. They also offer gyoza tasting sets, making it a great option for solo dining or as a dinner substitute. They have a total of 11 types of gyoza available at all times, each priced at 450 yen. I recommend trying them all!

Hidden Gem Creative Dumplings Kuukai! I went to a restaurant in Fukushima! This place is quite hard to find, as expected from a hidden gem. I tried various dumplings since they are known for their creative dumplings. First, I had the potato salad! The mashed potatoes were smooth, and the ham and onion added a spicy kick. The fried onions on top were a nice touch. Next, I tried the fried horse mackerel! It was boneless and had a fluffy texture, the fish itself was tasty, and the sauce was great! This was a perfect match for beer! Then, the dumplings arrived! The Kuukai dumplings were all delicious, with a chewy skin and meaty filling. The garlic flavor was just right, a classic choice. The lotus root dumplings had the same base as the Kuukai dumplings but with a crispy lotus root texture added. This was my favorite! The yuzu pepper dumplings were full of yuzu pepper flavor, perfect for pairing with sake. The pork belly and leek dumplings had a punch of leeks and juicy pork belly. The ginger dumplings were surprisingly refreshing with pickled ginger. The meat miso rice ball had a sweet miso flavor that paired well with rice. The shrimp dumplings were packed with shrimp, giving a nice texture. The devil dumplings had a curry flavor, spicy and sweat-inducing. The drool water dumplings were smooth and had cilantro, perfect for fans of Southeast Asian cuisine. Overall, the dumplings were unique and delicious! My favorite was the lotus root dumplings! Thank you for the meal, Kuukai! It's a must-visit place!

A restaurant with a large variety of dumplings. There are so many dumplings available. I remember being impressed the first time I visited, and before my second visit, I didn't realize there was a second floor too! It had a cozy feel with sofas, perfect for relaxing. It's a great place to unwind for a second round!

I happened to enter a dumpling restaurant in Fukushima that was delicious ✔︎
Dumplings 450 each
• Kuukai Dumplings
• Yuzu Pepper Dumplings
• Devil's Dumplings
• Negi Negi Dumplings
✔︎ Kuukai Potato Salad 420
✔︎ Homemade Chicken Ham 420
✔︎ Drooling Water Dumplings with Spicy Sauce 550
There are many types of dumplings, so you can enjoy a lot ☺️✨
The Devil's Dumplings were a surprise, but they were delicious (I'll keep it a secret 🤫)
I think I liked the Yuzu Pepper dumplings the most
Kuukai's dumplings are amazing because they are made with diced Iberico pork instead of minced meat, giving a solid meat texture to the dumplings!
There are also plenty of other menu options, from a la carte dishes to fried foods and desserts, which is great!
All seating is at tables, and you can also get all-you-can-drink options. There is also a dumpling party course available for groups 🍽️
And apparently they also have lunch options that looked delicious on Instagram
The atmosphere is welcoming, making it easy for even solo diners to feel comfortable. The overall wooden interior gives a feeling of visiting a friend's home, which was nice.
It's also close to the station, so give it a try ☺️✨
Thank you for the meal!

I ordered the Gyokara set meal and chose the most popular Kuukai gyoza from the selection of about 6 types of gyoza. The gyoza was delicious, and the karaage was crispy and tasty as well. Personally, I found the seasoning of the dried daikon radish here to be a unique taste that I had never tried before, and it was just as delicious and intriguing as the gyoza and karaage! By the way, the person I went with ordered the lotus root gyoza, which was also delicious. I recommend trying out the other flavors as well and aiming for a complete tasting experience!

Located in a hidden alley, this place is a cozy spot with a full first floor and a spacious tatami seating area on the second floor, perfect for groups! They offer around 13 types of dumplings, and you can adjust the quantity based on the number of people in your group. The service is great! The Kukai dumplings have a good balance of meat and vegetables, a classic taste. Personally, I liked the pork belly dumplings the best as they were very meaty. The ginger and shiso dumplings were also quite good. The Devil's dumplings had a unique flavor, like a mix of curry and Mexican, not very spicy so I added a lot of chili pepper and enjoyed it. The shrimp dumplings were elegant and had a nice texture. The chicken and vegetable dumplings were light in flavor. The scallion dumplings had a lot of scallions on top but lacked flavor inside. Although not dumplings, the smoked chicken trio was delicious and a great snack with drinks! The staff were busy but still managed to provide good service and engage in conversation. Overall, it was a lovely restaurant experience.

This time, I went to a dumpling restaurant and ordered a dumpling lunch plate. It was nice to be able to choose my favorite dumplings. It was hard to decide because I wanted to try other things too. Maybe next time I should order a half portion. I'm also curious about the curry. When will I be able to go again? I'll definitely go back for lunch.

While I was wandering around, I noticed that the shop had changed. It seems like it evolved into a dumpling shop? I was curious, so I decided to visit. Unfortunately, the B lunch option, Chicken and Spinach Cream Stew, was sold out. I opted for the Big Lunch Plate (7 dumplings) for 900 yen. You can choose two types of dumplings from six options: Standard Cabbage and Garlic Dumplings, Pork Belly and Chive Dumplings, Lotus Root Dumplings, Shrimp Dumplings, Shiso Dumplings, and Chicken Salt Vegetable Dumplings. I chose the Standard Cabbage and Garlic Dumplings and the Shrimp Dumplings. The Standard Cabbage and Garlic Dumplings had a soft and thin skin, which seemed like it would be crispy when fried, but this time it was on the softer side. The Shrimp Dumplings had a similar skin, not chewy, and relatively crispy. The meal also included a generous green salad, simmered hijiki seaweed, egg soup, pickles, and white rice. It was delicious. Thank you.

Hidden gem creative dumplings restaurant Kuukai Kuukai Dumplings + Chicken Salt Vegetable Dumplings is located about a 3-minute walk from Hanshin Fukushima Station. The restaurant is like a dining establishment on the first floor of a private house, with a cute orange exterior that stands out from the outside. Seeing the sign advertising Butter Chicken Curry piqued my interest, so I decided to go in. Although the restaurant seemed to mainly offer dumplings, I opted for dumplings this time. I ordered the popular Kuukai Dumplings and the light and easy-to-eat Chicken Salt Vegetable Dumplings. Both the Kuukai Dumplings and the Chicken Salt Vegetable Dumplings were very juicy. It had been a while since I had a dumpling-only set meal for lunch, and I found it quite hearty. I finished off with some crunchy pickles, which surprisingly helped cleanse my palate after the dumplings. It seems they also have seasonal dumplings, and even Cheese Dakgalbi Dumplings? I'm curious, so I'll definitely go back to try them out.

I'm from Shin-Fukushima, but I found this restaurant in a narrow alley. It was my first visit. The interior of the restaurant had a wooden design, with a few counter seats and small table seats. There was also a staircase, and I heard that there was a second floor as well. It seemed to be run by a young couple. I sat at the counter seat. Looking at the menu, I noticed that they had a variety of dumplings, with 13 different types of pan-fried dumplings listed. They also had deep-fried dumplings and soup dumplings. The pan-fried dumplings were all priced at 400 yen each. A complimentary dish was served first. I ordered the cold tofu for 300 yen, as well as their popular dumplings - Kuukai, shrimp dumplings, and lemon dumplings, each coming in a set of 5. Two types of dipping sauces were provided. The Kuukai dumplings were particularly delicious. On this day, the only side dish available was the cold tofu, but they also offered potato salad, snack pizza, dried fish tempura, sausage, and other appetizers. The clientele seemed to be mostly women and young people. Thank you for the meal.

I heard that the Shin-Fukushima area is hot recently, so I ordered the Gyoza Plate for 900 yen during my lunch break. There are several types of gyoza to choose from, but I chose the classic Kuukai gyoza. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to come out, and it looked like a stylish lunch that girls would like. I appreciate that they didn't skimp on the side dishes, and even though the gyoza itself was pretty basic, it didn't have any standout features. Personally, I'm not a fan of the gyoza skin not being crispy, but overall, I think the balance of the meal was very good. Thank you for the meal!

In a back alley, there is a dumpling restaurant. I visited for lunch and ordered the large dumpling set for 900 yen. The set comes with 7 dumplings, and you can choose from 2 types for the large set. However, I wish they had asked me for my preference, as I would have preferred 8 or 10 dumplings for an even number. The dumplings were served on a plate with vegetables. You can season them with sauce or the salt and pepper provided on the table. The set also comes with soup, a side dish, and pickled radish. You can also get a large portion of rice. The dumplings were tasty but a bit small, so I found them slightly lacking. I chose the Kuukai Gyoza and shrimp dumplings. I wish there was at least one more dumpling. The rice was cooked perfectly and had a nice sprinkle of sesame seeds. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

A hidden gem dumpling restaurant in Fukushima that I highly recommend everyone to visit!! It's located down a side street, giving off a very secret spot vibe, and the interior of the restaurant is incredibly stylish!! During the day, they serve lunch as a cafe, so it might be a good option for women to go for lunch! I went there at night to have dumplings and drinks, and they had a whopping 13 different types of pan-fried dumplings to choose from, making it hard to decide! I ended up choosing 6 types from the menu! Among them, the ones I particularly recommend are the classic Kukai dumplings, shrimp dumplings, and pork belly with vanilla dumplings (personal opinion). The prices are reasonable, and the dumplings are light and delicious, making it easy to eat as many as you want!! Plus, they are not too heavy on garlic, so you can enjoy them without worrying about bad breath the next day!! Overall, the dumplings are healthy with plenty of vegetables, not greasy, and very tasty!! If you're looking to enjoy healthy dumplings in a quiet and cozy atmosphere in Fukushima, this place is highly recommended!! It's truly a hidden gem with a great ambiance, so definitely check it out!!

I wanted to go to two different restaurants but they were unexpectedly closed, so I ended up going to Kuukai, which I had visited before and enjoyed. They have renovated and now specialize in gyoza, which was delicious. I arrived around 1:30 pm and the first floor was full, so I was seated on the second floor. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was cozy and welcoming, almost like being at home. Since I am pregnant and find sitting on tatami floors uncomfortable, I was relieved to find one table with chairs available. I ordered the salt koji fried chicken and chicken curry plate, which came with salad, pickled radish side dish, and soup, with free extra rice. The cost performance was great. I was able to relax and enjoy my meal slowly, feeling very content. However, the food was served at 2:15 pm, more than 30 minutes after ordering. It was lunchtime and my husband and I both ordered the same thing, so why did it take so long? We even considered whether we had been forgotten because we were the only customers on the second floor. When we went downstairs to leave, we saw dishes from a party of five still on the table, so we guessed that our order coincided with the first floor becoming full, causing delays. It would have been nice to receive some communication about the delay. I still want to try going there for dinner next time.

I was drawn in by the cute atmosphere and the mention of gyoza lunch. It seems there is also a second floor. They offer various options like karaage, plate lunches, but of course, I had to go for the gyoza lunch with 7 pieces where you can choose two types. Among the 10 options, it was hard to decide. I chose shrimp and shiso flavor! There are also lemon, tomato, and cheese dakgalbi flavors that caught my interest. Before I knew it, the food arrived. You can even get a large portion of rice with sprinkled mixed grains. The soup was egg drop soup. They also serve a side of vegetables. The gyoza were small but quite juicy and flavorful. I wish they were a bit bigger for more satisfaction. The rice was delicious (^-^)v I ordered a hot coffee for an extra 100 yen with the lunch. It was American coffee.

This is a lunch review of a rice cafe located south of Hanshin Fukushima Station. Various plate lunches, including a dumpling lunch with 5 types of dumplings, are available for 900 yen, with a drink for an additional 100 yen. The plate lunch includes rice with barley, 2 side dishes, salad, soup, and a small dessert. I tried the "Kukai Gyoza Plate Lunch" named after the restaurant.

Once again, I almost became a lunch refugee, as the first shop I went to was unexpectedly closed (lol). But I finally made it to another place! They had a lot of dumpling options, but I decided to go for curry... only to find out they were sold out (T-T). So, I ended up trying the dumplings with lots of ginger. I couldn't really taste the ginger though?! Maybe I put too much lemon sauce? But the combination with lemon sauce was perfect! Ahh, dumplings go best with beer after all! Even though it was close to 2 pm, the place was still bustling with customers. It's great that they offer lunch options until late. Thank you for the meal!
