- Genre: Japanese sweets - Area: Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Omotesando, Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture - Access: Within 5 minutes walk from Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine - Parking: Not available - Credit card payment: Not available - Frequency of use: Multiple times - Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I casually visited "Terakoya Honpo Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Store." Exterior and Interior: This shop is located in Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Omotesando in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is probably the only shop of its kind in the area, and I was drawn in by the savory smell of the baked goods and the products displayed in the storefront. Seating: No seating available. Menu: They offer around 10 types of senbei (rice crackers). I ordered the following: - Wasabi-flavored seaweed (220 yen, tax included) Since it was towards the end of my food tour and I was running low on my chu-hi drink, I had to make a quick stop. I always make a point to stop by this shop on my way, and today I chose the wasabi-flavored seaweed instead of the popular Amagi seaweed. The rice cracker had a crispy texture typical of dried snacks, and the seaweed was also crispy and not soggy. The snack size was also convenient for eating on the go. Strong Point: Enjoy the crispy snack while visiting the shrine! Service: Average. Overall: Although they offer rice crackers instead of senbei, I still think it would be nice to have senbei as well. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

On the way back from visiting Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, I couldn't resist stopping by all the sweet shops I had seen on the way there. Even though it was lunchtime, I wasn't really hungry... But I felt like eating something, so I went back near the entrance of the shrine where I smelled a delicious soy sauce scent. I was lured by the smell and stopped at "Terakoya Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Store." They had a sign that said "Feel free to eat while walking," which made me happy. Many people seemed to feel the same way, as they kept coming one after another. The line was not very organized, so I was a bit confused and had to wait a bit. When it was my turn, I ordered the ¥260 Yuzu Kosho Mayonnaise Kushi Nure Okaki. My son chose the ¥140 Mottled Old Soy Sauce, which had a nice cracked texture. I was torn between the Grilled Curry Shichimi and something else, but I chose the former thinking it might make me thirsty. My son seemed to be undecided between the Ariake Seaweed and something else. We enjoyed eating as we walked towards the Hakata bus terminal. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

Thank you for viewing. Fukuoka, near Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, food tour. "Terakoya Honpo Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Store" is also a popular spot for food tours, with many students lining up. The aroma of soy sauce fills the air inside the store, and the popular "seaweed senbei" was ordered. There are over 10 types of senbei to choose from, and people around were having a hard time deciding what to order. The seaweed senbei, with its savory soy sauce flavor, including the aroma of seaweed, was delicious. Since you can enjoy them freshly baked, they were very tasty. The students were eating about two pieces each. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

When I visited Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, I came across a shop that caught my eye and made me want to try their food. I don't usually crave rice crackers, but it looked very appealing as I was strolling around. I was curious about the wet rice crackers, so I ordered them with yuzu kosho mayonnaise and plum shichimi. Eating rice crackers on a stick is something new to me. Compared to the crunchy ones you can find anywhere, these had a soft texture. They looked like yakitori at first glance, and the rice crackers themselves had a strong flavor, making them suitable as a snack. It's perfect for food hopping at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. Thank you for the meal.

Hakata Gourmet Part 4: Terakoya Honpo Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Store It seems like this restaurant has branches all over Japan, so can we really call it Hakata Gourmet? lol. It's common for people to crave something salty after eating something sweet. Here, I tried the "Yuzu Pepper Mayonnaise (¥240)", a Kyushu limited edition wet rice cracker made with yuzu pepper originating from Oita Prefecture. It's easy to eat on the go since it's on a skewer, which is a nice touch. The taste was great, with plenty of mayonnaise coating the rice cracker and the spicy kick of yuzu pepper. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Visit date: April 26, 2022 (Tuesday) After finishing my visit and purchasing an amulet at Dazaifu, I walked towards the station along the approach path. The path, which took a little over 5 minutes, was lined with many shops. It was a rainy evening on a weekday, so almost half of the shops were closed. I decided to enter a rice cracker shop that I wouldn't normally visit. I bought one piece of seaweed rice cracker for 190 yen, which I planned to eat as I walked. It was more expensive than the famous Dazaifu specialty, Umegae mochi, that I had bought before coming here. However, the seaweed rice cracker was thick, had a savory soy sauce aroma, and provided a satisfying crunch. The seaweed seemed to be layered multiple times, denser than what I usually eat, which surprised me. While I was eating in front of the shop, a sparrow came close to me, picking up the crumbs and carrying them back to its nest. It's nice to be able to snack openly in tourist spots. It made me feel like a child again. Thank you for the meal!

Visit date: 12:10 on a weekday Wait time: None Menu: Kushi Nure Okaki (Sweet Soy Sauce) for 200 yen I passed by the front of the store before going to the shrine and decided to stop by on my way back. There were many types of senbei to choose from, making it a tough decision. This time, I purchased the Kushi Nure Okaki (Sweet Soy Sauce). They advised to eat it while it's still warm as the taste diminishes when it cools down. Thank you for the meal.

On the way back from Hatsumode (first shrine visit of the year). I think I waited for about 15 minutes. It was around 240 yen per piece, so it may be a bit pricey, but it was delicious and worth the extra cost. It was my first time trying wet senbei (rice cracker) and it was slightly hard like regular mochi, but very tasty. The regular senbei also looked delicious.

When visiting Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, there are many famous snacks along the approach, and this is one of them. Enjoying wet rice crackers on a stick, like eating chicken skin. They are sold with three different flavors: "yuzu pepper mayonnaise," "shichimi," and "sweet soy sauce." I bought the "sweet soy sauce" flavor. I ate it on the road next to the shop, and when finished, I put the stick in the stick holder next to the shop, so it's okay to dispose of the trash there. The sweetness and saltiness of the soy sauce, along with the soft texture, make it feel like a snack or a side dish for alcohol. It's a simple and delicious treat that I will definitely have again next time.

Now, let's head back to Tenjin from Dazaifu! Huh? What's this? A snack of rice crackers from the assistant! Oh, they recommend this rice cracker! Is this a rice cracker or a rice cracker? I'm a bit full, but I can eat one, right? It's a large square shape! The fragrant smell is so nice! Here we go! Yuzu pepper rice cracker! A rice cracker made with Yuzu pepper from Yufuin! It's a large size with a satisfying crunch! Crunch! Crunch! To me, it's more like a rice cracker than a rice cracker, right? The crunchy texture when it breaks! The savory taste of soy sauce and the refreshing spiciness of Yuzu pepper! A subtle rice aroma in the aftertaste! It's definitely a rice cracker, right? Rice crackers go "crunch! crunch!" while rice crackers go "crunch! crunch!" According to the assistant's search, rice crackers are made from regular rice, while rice crackers are made from glutinous rice! That's why the texture and sound are different! Well, it doesn't matter, but it makes me want to drink beer! Shall we have one? No, no, we still have the night ahead of us! Right, we do, don't we? Oh, you don't have any? Anyway, let's enjoy the rest of the day at Dazaifu and head back to Tenjin! I'll probably doze off on the way back zzz

I love wet senbei! You can choose from two flavors, shichimi and sweet soy sauce. It's always the same price, 200 yen for one or two pieces. Of course, I'll eat two pieces! I wanted to try other rice crackers too!笑

Yuzu Kosho Mayo Rice Crackers A shop where you can enjoy freshly baked rice crackers commonly found along the approach to a shrine. I stopped by because I saw the appealing words "yuzu kosho mayo" on the sign. The rice crackers are on the moist side, with mayo drizzled on top, mixed with soy sauce and yuzu kosho. I rediscovered the deliciousness of the combination of yuzu kosho and mayo.

It felt like it was designed for tourists visiting Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. The rice crackers were delicious, but one stick was enough due to its richness. If you don't mind the tourist price, it looks good and might be worth it.

After several years, I visited Dazaifu again♪ I usually take a bus to get there, but this time I used the Nishitetsu train, which was more convenient than I thought! When it comes to Dazaifu, one of the highlights is definitely the food! I really wanted to go to "coba cafe," but when I saw the long line of about 70 groups waiting in front of the shop's reservation book, I sadly gave up... Near that cafe, there was a shop with an open-air style called "Hakata Horumon." I didn't know the name of the shop and couldn't find it on Tabelog, so I can't write a review, but it was incredibly delicious, so I'll mention it here! (laughs) After that, I went to another shop on the approach. I bought a hand-baked soy sauce-flavored senbei (rice cracker) while thinking that this kind of shop is common on shrine approaches. It had a crispy texture and a fragrant soy sauce aroma! When I checked Tabelog, I was surprised to see that it is well-known nationwide! It turns out, it was the same shop as others I've seen before... But the yuzu pepper menu here seems to be exclusive to Kyushu? I should have tried that too! Thank you for the delicious food.

I love wet sen (rice crackers). The sen I prefer is, of course, the one with yuzu pepper mayonnaise flavor. The old ladies over there are all dried up and cracked, but I still stopped by this place, "Terakoya Honpo Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Store." I'll be trying out different skewers that are moist and hot, with a seasoned touch, all the way to the back... My choice this time is the Oita specialty, yuzu pepper mayonnaise flavor. The poster shows a lot of mayonnaise, but the actual skewer served has a modest amount of mayonnaise, yet still plenty enough. It tastes mostly of yuzu pepper mayonnaise, and you can hardly taste the flavor of the wet sen itself. If you're going to put on mayonnaise, just a line is enough. I satisfied my hunger with Amaou strawberry smoothie and rich wet sen skewers, and now I'm heading to Hakata Station!

■Yuzu Kosho Mayo ¥250 and wet rice cracker skewer. There were many delicious-looking rice crackers lined up, but I had already eaten a lot of Ume-gaeshi mochi so I only got one. The unique texture of the wet rice cracker paired with the yuzu kosho mayo was delicious. I want to try all the flavors of these rice crackers. *Visited around 12 pm on a weekday, no waiting time, no lines. Payment method: Cash. Thank you for the meal!

I took a leisurely walk around Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and stumbled upon a shop selling wet senbei crackers after buying some meat buns. Since there wasn't much of a line, I decided to stop by and ended up purchasing skewered wet rice crackers in yuzu kosho mayonnaise flavor. It was gentle on my teeth, with a spicy citrusy kick from the yuzu and a creamy texture from the mayonnaise. It was a perfect snack to enjoy while strolling along the approach to the shrine. It was a delightful treat.

[Location] About 3 minutes walk from Dazaifu Station [Date and Time] Weekend evening [Reservation] Not required [Inside the restaurant] There was a little wait. [Ordered items] - Ariake Nori (moist senbei) with sweet soy sauce - Yuzu Kosho [Comments] I updated my review because I only had photos, so the information is a bit old. Please keep that in mind. It was my first time visiting Fukuoka, so I wanted to show my cousin something typical of the area, and of course, when you think of Fukuoka, you think of Dazaifu. We also visited the Dazaifu amusement park. On our way back from the amusement park, we tried some food along the approach. The smell of soy sauce caught my attention while walking, and I couldn't resist buying some senbei (rice crackers) (laughs). [Food feedback] [Yuzu Kosho] The crispy texture of the senbei was great. The yuzu pepper flavor was stronger than I expected, and it was delicious. It was really good! Thank you for the meal.
