Ordered item... Iced coffee Dish... The iced coffee was simple and had a unique acidity to it, which made it delicious. I only ordered a drink after having a meal, but I was satisfied. Atmosphere... A retro café located in an old-fashioned building. It feels like stepping back in time to the Showa era. The decorations inside the café are all from the Showa period!

I was invited by a friend to meet at 2:30 in front of Asahi Library in the midst of snow, sunshine, strong winds, and extreme cold. It's right in front of Belva Toyoshima and Takakura Kindergarten. We talked about New Year's stories until 5 o'clock. When we left the restaurant, it was stormy with sudden gusts of wind, but then it quickly cleared up with strange weather. The building has a Showa retro feel, built in 1932. The interior is filled with nostalgic retro items. I ordered coffee and apple cake for ¥950. The Peruvian coffee was perfect for my taste. It was delicious. I would love to go back for another drink. The apple cake had plenty of apples and the right amount of sweetness. Good stuff.

I visited "Toyokuni Coffee" in Takakura-cho, Miyakojima-ku, Osaka City. It is located on the 1st floor of "Toyokuni House", which was completed in 1932, making it the oldest existing reinforced concrete residential complex in Japan! The photo I took on April 10, 2016, shows the "Toyokuni House A Building". The interior of the shop has a retro Showa vibe, with a CathodeRayTube television set and air conditioning. The coffee costs 600 yen, with a 50 yen discount if you order toast as a set. I had the "Ham and Cheese Toast" for 520 yen, while my companion had the "Chicken Burdock and Nori Toast" for 620 yen. Both were delicious, and the design of the toast with grilled seaweed was interesting. It's a historic building with high historical value, and I hope it will be preserved for future generations despite any seismic concerns.

In the past, Coco-chan recommended a cafe called Koko Coffee in this area. The coffee is not that great, but the building itself is worth a visit. I'm not really interested in food, but is it okay for me to go there? Before arriving at the cafe, I saw a rundown apartment building that looked like Tokiwa-so. Did famous manga artists like Fujiko Fujio live there? That was actually the destination this time. The building was built in 1932 and is said to be the oldest existing reinforced concrete collective housing in Japan. The interior is amazing! The sliding doors are incredibly heavy. The floor creaks with every step, just like the nightingale floors in old castles. I ordered the Bali Kintamani coffee from Indonesia for 600 yen. I remember having a dish called Kintamani at a soup curry restaurant before, but I didn't realize it was a place name. It was quite light and tasty. I personally prefer Ethiopian coffee, so I probably won't order it again, but it was a nice experience. I visited in the evening on a weekend, and since the area doesn't attract many tourists, the atmosphere was cozy. The counter seats seemed to be reserved for regulars. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

This is a cafe located in a corner of Toyokuni House, which was also used as a filming location for the movie "The Miracles of the Namiya General Store" starring Sota Fukushi and Nana Komatsu. The building is the oldest in Japan made of reinforced concrete, exuding a retro atmosphere from before the war. The main attraction is, of course, the coffee, but they also serve curry (pictured is hashed beef rice) and cakes. You enter by taking off your shoes, and there are two tables for two people and two low tables. It's just right for a couple. If you want to relax and quietly enjoy your coffee, this place is recommended.

Thursday 14:00 No prior reservation. I think I came here about a year ago, but it was closed due to an emergency at that time, so finally got my revenge! Inside, there is a cute little shop renovated from an old Japanese house, designed for the size of people from the past. Each item is retro and cute, but with modern touches added here and there, creating a space where even modern people can relax and unwind. It seems to be one of the oldest existing RC collective housing in Japan (RC refers to reinforced concrete structure), with 9 buildings originally but only 3 remaining. Despite its historical significance, it doesn't feel outdated in a good or bad way, which is amazing. - Pumpkin cake ¥450 - Timor-Leste coffee ¥500 I don't like acidity, so I chose the heavier one with less acidity. It's nice that you can choose. While waiting, I enjoyed looking at the small items in the shop, reading old Jump and Sunday magazines from the 1980s, and admiring the cute toilet with random windows. I was so excited. I was fighting with Goku and the Red Ribbon Army... haha. The pumpkin cake is moist, not too sweet, and really delicious. The sweetness is just right, making me want to try other cakes too! The Timor-Leste coffee, despite being lighter than expected, had a well-balanced and refreshing taste, which was also good. Rather than just rating the cafe itself, I'll give it a score considering its historical building, being the oldest in Japan, and the unique aspects that can't be found elsewhere. I want to come back for more cake!

☆彡"Toyokuni House," the oldest existing RC collective housing in Japan, has a retro wooden door knob that opens to a shoe box in the entrance. You can take off your shoes here and enter the living room and tatami Japanese-style room with available seats. The tatami room has cushions for sitting directly on the floor, giving you a feeling of being at home in a traditional Japanese tea room. Not just for its retro atmosphere, but also for its wide variety of coffee beans ranging from light to dark roasts, including one daily special bean. I wanted to try the high-aroma light roast, so I ordered the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Belka G1 (540 yen). The coffee, carefully brewed with hot water, had a berry-like flavor mixed with a slight bitterness. Even just by the aroma, you can tell it's delicious coffee. Despite the bitterness, it felt more like the bitterness from the outer layer of the roasted beans than a lingering bitterness. This sensation may vary from person to person, but it was a beautiful and tasty coffee despite the bitterness. One of the criteria for good coffee beans is the expectation of flavor changes, and this bean seems promising in that aspect. As the temperature cools, the acidity becomes stronger and truly shines. It's a stimulating acidity that is enjoyable for everyone, like a beautiful change similar to tea. For 540 yen, it's a delightful cup that you can enjoy. It's popular, so depending on the time, you may not be able to sit at your desired table, but every seat is comfortable for a pleasant experience. I also have an Instagram account @ginjirou.star.

First visit❗ I stumbled upon this cafe while wandering around after having some business to attend to. It's located about a 15-minute walk from Miyakojima Station. I was delighted to discover this hidden gem✨ The first floor is for coffee bean takeout, while the second floor is the cafe space. Upon entering and climbing the stairs, you are greeted by a charming wooden structure with lots of antique knick-knacks❗ It seems like the place is run solely by the master. The cafe has a counter seat and two table seats in the back, creating a cozy atmosphere. The interior is quite small, so it gets full with around 10 people. I ordered a cheesecake and a Brazilian blend coffee❗ As soon as I placed my order, I could hear the sound of beans being ground and smell the fragrant aroma. The coffee was meticulously brewed. The cheesecake had a subtle tanginess and creaminess, with a moist texture. It was not too sweet. It paired perfectly with the rich, bold bitterness of the coffee❗ As a fan of dark roast coffee, I was in heaven. The cozy atmosphere makes it easy to visit alone for reading, chatting with the master, or enjoying coffee with fellow coffee enthusiasts. It feels like stepping back in time. This place has become one of the cafes I want to visit regularly. Thank you for the lovely experience.

Visited for the first time at around 2:58 PM on a Saturday in January 2021. "Toyokuni Coffee" is a cafe located in the oldest existing collective housing in Japan. It has a retro exterior that really stands out! The cafe is run on the first and second floors under the same management, but this time I visited the first floor. You take off your shoes before entering, and there is a room with tables and chairs. Towards the left side, there is a room where you can sit directly on the tatami mats using low tables. I chose to sit in that room. There are various retro furnishings such as a tube TV, creating a nostalgic atmosphere of days gone by. The stove was still in use and warming up the room. I checked the menu and ordered the East Timor - Ermera Aileu (dark roast) for 500 yen. The coffee was carefully brewed and served about 6 minutes later. I enjoyed the delicious coffee while taking in the atmosphere of the space. The service from the staff was excellent, making it a very cozy cafe. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Maybe next time I'll try the second floor. Thank you for the meal!

I came to Miyakojima for work and spotted a retro building while driving. It is said to be the oldest existing apartment building built in the early Showa period. As a cafe lover, I couldn't resist visiting for lunch. I arrived around 2 pm and was able to enter without waiting as there was only one other customer. The interior has a nostalgic atmosphere from the early Showa period. I took off my shoes at the entrance and was seated at a low table. I ordered the Beef Curry lunch set for 1,100 yen. The curry had chunky pieces of beef and had a nostalgic medium spiciness to it. The dishes were also retro-looking. It was a delightful meal.

This is a cafe that roasts its own coffee beans and makes homemade sweets♡ I was told about a lovely cafe, so I went there despite the hot weather♡ It's about a 10-minute walk from Miyakojima Station. There is a building with a great atmosphere tucked away from the main street! It seems to be the oldest collective housing in Kansai, built in 1932. An 88-year-old collective housing?! It has a solid and charming feel, very lovely!!! It seems like this place has been used for drama filming, and the atmosphere is just perfect♡ Excitedly, I opened the door, took off my shoes, and entered the store. There are lots of cute items even in the entrance, which got me really excited. The interior is also cute♡♡♡ I ordered a mixed juice, a chilled plum juice, and a ham and cheese sandwich. The flavors were stable and comforting♡♡♡ The specialty seemed to be a seaweed sandwich, but unfortunately, it was sold out ( ; ; ) However, the ham and cheese sandwich was also delicious. I was able to relax and unwind in a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere. They also sell coffee beans, tableware, and miscellaneous goods. I found a cute item that I liked, so I ended up buying it. If you like retro goods, your heart will surely dance with joy (o^^o) The customer service was warm and friendly, and I felt really soothed. I definitely want to come back here again♡♡♡ I'll visit again when it gets a little cooler. Thank you for the meal.

On Wednesday at 5:30 PM, I visited "Toyokuni Coffee" in Miyakojima. It is said to be located in Japan's oldest collective housing. I hesitantly opened the door and saw a sign saying "Please take off your shoes before entering." I followed the instructions and entered the store. Inside, there were tatami mats and table seats. I chose to sit in the tatami area, which felt like entering someone's home. I ordered the "Peru" coffee for 450 yen. The beans are organically grown and medium roasted. They offer various types of beans for sale as well. The coffee arrived in 3 minutes. I took a sip and it was delicious. It was at a good temperature, not too hot, and had a slight acidity without being too bitter. Even as someone who doesn't like the coffee from a certain major Seattle-based chain, I found this coffee refreshing. The interior of the store is filled with retro furniture and items, giving off a Showa-era vibe. Showa-era music plays in the background at just the right volume. It seemed like the regular customers were enjoying chatting with the staff. Those who are into this vibe will surely love it. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and travel back to the Showa era, this is the place to go. The coffee was also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Toyokuni House, the oldest existing collective housing built in the early Showa period, is a retro building that is also used as a movie setting. Nestled in a corner of this old and worn-down structure is a self-roasting coffee shop. Despite its visibly aged appearance, the mysterious charm exuded by the ivy-covered facade is breathtakingly picturesque and nostalgic, like visiting a friend's home. The interior, filled with playful touches, is a surprising contrast to the dilapidated exterior. Imagine an Art Deco-style round window and a cozy living room where the family gathers. Decorative shelves, burnt magazines, gadgets, and various ornaments create a unique analog world view. The carefully crafted designs, from logo-printed slippers and notebooks to the meticulously calculated details, evoke a scene straight out of a movie. A signature menu item is the Torigobou Nori Toast, featuring eight square-sized pieces with a rustic look adorned with mint and flags. Between the fluffy bread slices lies a tender salad of burdock, carrot, and chicken with soft-baked seaweed. The finely sliced burdock, with a slight crunch, pairs perfectly with the small-bodied salad. The salad is lightly flavored with a hint of mayo, complementing the sweetness of the carrot and the savory aroma of the seaweed, enhanced by a touch of pepper. When sandwiched between lightly toasted bread, this small yet flavorful dish packs a satisfying punch. Enjoyed with fragrant self-roasted coffee, the homemade, gentle flavors are sure to become addictive. The Peruvian citrus notes and moderate bitterness of the coffee offer a rich yet refreshing taste. Served in an understated branded cup, it elevates the experience to a higher level. The iced coffee, made with double the amount of beans for a luxurious touch, delivers a bitter yet clear and fresh flavor.

The retro building, chicken, and kinpira gobou sandwich were amazing. I ordered an iced coffee this time, and since they grind the beans to make it, I got to enjoy a fragrant coffee.

The atmosphere is excellent. It feels just like grandma's house. It's great for those who want to see inside this kind of building. The cakes and drinks are not fancy, but have a cozy, homey feel. It really feels like home! They even serve drinks in T-fal cups (*^^*). With tatami mats, low tables, lots of picture books, and building blocks, it might be enjoyable for families with children.
