ハードボイルドJP
This is my second time staying at the Undead King Pavilion, as I also stayed here in December last year. I have visited this day trip hot spring twice 18 years ago and once 11 years ago. The hotel offers retro-modern hot spring accommodations surrounded by greenery, with rooms featuring open-air baths, a dining area serving kaiseki cuisine, and a natural hot spring communal bath. The hotel was opened in 1973 and has been periodically renovated, so while the building is old, the interior is well-maintained and modern. Recently, the 8th-floor rooms were renovated, and the room I stayed in this time was a mix of Japanese and Western style, with a beautiful view of the greenery. The hot spring communal bath features a radium hot spring sourced on-site, known for its skin-beautifying and body-friendly effects. The outdoor baths offer views of cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, autumn foliage, and a starry sky in winter, creating a relaxing hot spring experience throughout the seasons. The communal bath is divided into male and female sections, each with its own garden open-air bath with nicknames. The male bath is called "Kureha-no-yu," the female bath is called "Ayaha-no-yu," and the garden open-air bath is called "Kinugasa-keno-yu." For dinner, I enjoyed the standard kaiseki meal (Utagae kaiseki) at the Sai Aitei restaurant, which offers a variety of Kyoto-style kaiseki meals. The menu changes monthly, incorporating seasonal flavors into the traditional Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine. The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes, including Ikeda's unique dishes such as steamed vegetables and freshly made rice balls. I enjoyed a variety of dishes such as simmered vegetables, scrambled eggs, takoyaki, chicken croquettes, rolled omelet, 4 types of grilled fish, tomatoes, vegetable juice, steamed vegetables, vegetable salad, bread, nori seaweed, mini natto, mixed juice, miso soup, hot spring egg, orange jelly, 3 types of fruits, 5 types of cakes, 2 types of jam, yogurt with cornflakes, yuzu juice, and hot coffee.
