(2023.04.21) Shortly after moving my base to Hakata, I bookmarked the "Hakata Toyoi Nagahama Shokudo" restaurant. I once went there specifically for the "Seafood Bowl with Uni" but they were sold out that day due to lack of Uni supply. Because it is located away from the city center, I didn't have a chance to visit again until recently when I saw an article posted on SNS. About a year later, I decided to visit again.
Many seafood restaurants try to create a fish market atmosphere by decorating with large fishing flags, tuna boxes, and using beer cases as chairs to convey affordability. However, this restaurant had around 20 two-seater tables neatly lined up in the hall, as well as private-like four-seater tables and raised seating, creating a spacious and high-quality atmosphere with about 60 seats.
When I tried to order using a tablet, I found a "Super Tuna Bowl" next to the Uni bowl I originally wanted, which seemed new compared to my last visit. Intrigued by it, I ordered the "Super Tuna Bowl". It was topped with lean tuna, fatty tuna, and marinated tuna, and although it didn't seem to be premium tuna, the fine lean meat clung to my tongue, the fatty tuna melted on the warm rice, and the marinated tuna had a crunchy texture with the sweetness of the marinade, satisfying my taste buds.
In addition to the seafood bowls made from fish purchased at the Nagahama Fresh Fish Market, the restaurant is also popular for its sushi buffet where you can enjoy sushi for only 110 yen per piece. Without much expectation, I decided to try a few pieces at the buffet corner. To my surprise, there were nearly 50 varieties of fresh and shiny sushi toppings such as yellowtail, tuna, mackerel, red clam, amberjack, striped jack, and I ended up having 7 pieces.
While all the toppings were satisfying, the only downside was the cold rice at the buffet.
