I wonder how many times I have visited Dazaifu. Many tourists come here, such as on school trips or foreigners. It's a must-visit spot for sightseeing in Fukuoka. And you can't miss trying Umegae mochi! It's the most delicious when it's freshly baked. I can't skip it every time.

Matsuo Shoten - Ume Gaeshi Mochi (130 yen each) - Located near Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and Dazaifu Station, Matsuo Shoten offers Ume Gaeshi Mochi with a cute plum stamp on the paper wrapping, perfect for eating on the go. With 20-30 shops offering Ume Gaeshi Mochi, it's fun to find your favorite one!

I forgot to post this. I bought ginger syrup in Kitakyushu, and when I got back (unbeknownst to me, I passed by Mairebi-sama), I realized it was the 25th, so I bought some Yomogi Mochi from Ume no Eda Mochi. As usual, my mom noticed and got me some freshly baked ones. It's hard to hold them while they're still hot, but they're delicious as always! Apparently, Matsuo Shoten and a few other shops use domestically grown azuki beans, but as someone with a not-so-sensitive palate, I can't tell because they're so hot, but I can tell they're made with traditional azuki beans. Thank you for always serving us freshly baked Ume no Eda Mochi. It was delicious today as well. I will come back again.

On the 25th of every month, Ume-gaeshi Mochi is made with mugwort in honor of the birth and death of Sugawara no Michizane. I heated it up in the microwave as usual. The mugwort flavor is distinct and very delicious. Ume-gaeshi Mochi is always delicious, but with the addition of mugwort, it feels like a special treat. I highly recommend stopping by when visiting Dazaifu. Thank you as always. It was very delicious today too. Thank you for the meal.

On the 25th of every month, the Ume-gaeshi mochi is made with mugwort in honor of the birth and death of Sugawara no Michizane. Many customers come just to buy it on this day. The mugwort flavor is amazing. While it's best when freshly baked, today I reheated it in the microwave and it was still delicious. I highly recommend stopping by when visiting Dazaifu. Thank you as always. It was really delicious today too. Thank you for the meal.

I had soba noodles but felt like something was missing, so I decided to go to Dazaifu to buy something. While I was there, I stopped by my usual place and bought some Ume-gaeshi mochi from Matsuo Shoten. The mother kindly prepared a freshly baked batch for me. The freshly baked ones are exceptional. It was delicious! The Ume-gaeshi mochi from Matsuo Shoten is truly delicious! Thank you so much, mother, for always providing such delicious Ume-gaeshi mochi. Dazaifu may not be as busy as usual on regular holidays, but there were still quite a few people around. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

After the lifting of the state of emergency, it was the second weekend, and about 20% of the usual number of people were present. Matsuo Shoten seems to have reopened for business from yesterday, and for the time being, they will only be open on weekends, holidays, and the 25th. Today, I had the pleasure of enjoying some Ume-gaeshi mochi after a long time. Almost 100% of the customers who visited were buying Ume-gaeshi mochi in bulk. The staff, who recognized me, prepared a freshly made batch, and I enjoyed the piping hot Ume-gaeshi mochi. Matsuo Shoten bakes their mochi by hand, except during New Year's, so it's always a treat to watch the mochi being baked through the glass. The freshly baked mochi was incredibly delicious. Tomorrow, I'll be trying the yomogi mochi. Everyone, please stop by and give it a try. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Every 25th of the month, Umebachi Mochi is made with mugwort in honor of the birth and death of Sugawara no Michizane. I bought it as a souvenir because I finished work early. Umebachi Mochi from Matsuo Shoten is delicious even without mugwort, but the mugwort version is exceptional. Their red bean paste is homemade and has a strong flavor without being too sweet, making it very delicious. The mugwort adds a fantastic aroma. It's best when eaten fresh out of the oven, but even when cold, it's still delicious when reheated in the microwave. I bought some to eat on the spot and some to take home. In the same building, there is also Tenzan where you can buy strawberry daifuku and warabi mochi. I highly recommend stopping by when visiting Dazaifu. Thank you as always. It was very delicious today too. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine on New Year's Day, but it was crowded and overwhelming. I managed to pray, but I couldn't explore much. I wanted to try a local specialty, so I stopped by Matsuo Shoten near the station. I tried their famous Umegae mochi, which was freshly made and delicious. It was a grilled rice cake with sweet bean paste filling, without a strong plum flavor.

This is a shop near Dazaifu Station that sells Umegae mochi. Umegae mochi is a specialty of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. They sell one piece for 120 yen. Despite the name, Umegae mochi does not actually contain plums. The mochi has a plum design pressed on it. The mochi wrapped in cellophane is slightly warm. The mochi is very soft and stretchy. The red bean paste filling is delicious. There are about 30-40 Umegae mochi shops in the area. Many of them offer live demonstrations of making and selling the mochi in front of the shop. Some shops use fully automated machines, while others use traditional hand-baking methods. It seems like a fun experience to try different shops while walking around and eating.

On New Year's Day, I visited Miyajidake Shrine for hatsumode, and on January 3rd, I went to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine to pray. On the way back, I stopped by Matsuo Shoten as usual to get some Ume-gaeshi mochi. The mom there always asks if I want them freshly baked, and this time I got lucky and got some piping hot Ume-gaeshi mochi. Freshly baked Ume-gaeshi mochi is really something special. Thank you so much, mom! Looking forward to another great year.

My family's car and another car were washed as a reward, and my companion bought me back home. My mother-in-law is very busy with dressing up during this time of the year and for Coming of Age Day. On this day, she had to dress up three people for a relative's Shichi-Go-San ceremony. On the way back, we got some Ume-gaeshi mochi from Matsuo Shoten. Although it wasn't freshly made and piping hot, the red bean paste made from domestically sourced soybeans was delicious as always. Next time, I would like to try it freshly made. Thank you for the meal.

On the 25th of the month (September 25th), my mother-in-law bought some yomogi umegae mochi from Matsuo Shoten for takeout! When she returned from golfing, she heated it up and we enjoyed it. Although we wished we could have had it freshly baked, it was still delicious after reheating. The red bean paste that day was homemade using domestically produced soybeans. We were relieved that it tasted just like usual, and it helped us relax after a tiring day of golf.

On the 25th of this month (June 25th), I got some Yomogi Ume-ga-eshi mochi from Matsuo Shoten for takeout! It was freshly baked, so it was still warm when I brought it home. I felt relieved that it tasted just like usual, and now I'm about to start a hectic journey. (^^;

Today is Yomogi Day in Dazaifu! Due to the declaration of a state of emergency, Matsuo Shoten is only open on weekends, but are they open on the 25th? My mother-in-law, who is currently undergoing treatment for a broken right wrist, bought some for me as a souvenir on her way back from her appointment. We heated it up in the microwave and enjoyed it. The more you chew, the more the flavor of yomogi spreads in your mouth. The anko filling has just the right amount of sweetness, making it the usual delicious Ume-gaeshi mochi. It looks like the state of emergency may be extended, but I hope they can hold on and keep going. I'll visit again on the weekend. Next time, I'll try the freshly baked ones. Thank you for the meal. I'll come back for more.

I stopped by Dazaifu for some errands and as usual, my mother packed freshly baked Umegae mochi for me. On the way back in the car, my companion and my mother-in-law enjoyed the freshly baked mochi while I drove (crying). It looked so delicious. When I got home, I enjoyed the warm mochi by the Kusagawa River cherry blossoms. It was still warm and as delicious as always. Thank you, mom, for always baking them fresh. I will visit again. It was truly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

After seeing the news of the plum blossoms blooming, I visited the Tenmangu Shrine on my way back from praying. The scenery was different this time because the food stalls were not set up due to the state of emergency, so I was able to fully enjoy the plum blossoms. When my mom asked if I preferred freshly baked ones, I gladly accepted. It was hot and a bit difficult to hold, but the freshly baked plum branch mochi was exceptional. I savored it while being careful not to burn my mouth with the red bean paste. By the time I finished eating, I had completely forgotten about the plum blossoms (laughs). Thank you very much for always providing such delicious plum branch mochi. It was truly delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back.
