Marufuji in Chikko Honmachi, by the river in Chikko Honmachi, across from Fukuoka Boat, is a bento shop known for its fried chicken. They also offer the famous Kitakyushu specialty, kashiwa meshi. The prices are reasonable, with the fried chicken costing 210 yen plus tax and the kashiwa meshi costing 350 yen plus tax. The minced meat in the kashiwa meshi is a bit coarse, but it's a good snack option. The shop is located in Bayside Place and seems to be a factory direct sales outlet. Overall, a nice place to grab a quick bite.

On Sunday, the weather was nice, so I took a walk along the Nakagawa River towards Tenjin after visiting Bayside Place. I came across a bento shop called Marufuji that sells small round onigiri from Kokura. I arrived at the shop around 2 pm and they had a limited selection of items like omusoba, chicken nanban bento, and chikuzenni. I bought omusoba and chikuzenni. The chikuzenni had soft carrots and crunchy lotus root, soaked in a flavorful broth. The main dish, omusoba, had spaghetti noodles according to the ingredient list. The spaghetti noodles were not too sticky and had a good texture, paired well with the slightly sweet sauce. The shop is also available at Bayside Place.
