[May 5, 2020] While taking a walk with my spouse in the neighborhood, we noticed a new unfamiliar restaurant had opened. There were no Vietnamese restaurants in this area, and as a fan of cilantro, I was very intrigued. We saw photos and menus of Vietnamese dishes near the entrance, and they were also selling dishes to go. We were invited inside by the lady owner, and we found out that the restaurant is run by a very friendly couple. (I was surprised that the man was working barefoot...) We were given lunch menus, but since it was past lunchtime, we decided to order individual dishes. I ordered the beef and homemade ham pho with a canned beer, and my wife ordered fresh spring rolls. The dishes were ready in about 5 minutes. The soup had a delicious beef broth, and the beef was well-seasoned and tasty. The pho and spring rolls were both filled with plenty of cilantro, and we enjoyed them with homemade sweet and tangy sauces. Additionally, a fellow customer suggested adding homemade lemongrass to the pho, which added a refreshing lemony flavor without overpowering the dish. We ended up consuming a lot of lemongrass as it also went well with the spring rolls. [May 6, 2020] Two days in a row. On the second day, my wife wanted to have pho again as she couldn't finish it the day before, and I also wanted to try the banh mi (bread) that was sold out the day before. We arrived at the restaurant at 11 am, the first customers of the day, and the owner was very generous, offering us complimentary dishes like fried chicken, saffron rice, and shrimp crackers. We ordered the pho and fried spring rolls set (special price of 500 yen!), banh xeo, and banh mi. The pho was as delicious as before, and the fried spring rolls had a chewy texture and were very tasty. The banh xeo, a turmeric-colored crepe filled with homemade ham, was also delicious, especially when eaten with the homemade sweet sauce. And all of this for just 300 yen! We also ordered cola to go with it, and the total bill for two people, including two banh mi for takeout, was only 1700 yen. We were so full that we saved the banh mi for later, and when we finally ate them at home in the evening, the crispy bread and the sweet and savory seasoned beef with chopped cilantro were still delicious. This restaurant has become our favorite spot, and we will definitely be back. Not only for the great value and tasty food, but also for the kindness of the smiling couple!
