I visited "Heidi" in Kaneda, which is said to be the Alps of Kitakyushu City. I only found it by chance when I went to Tomato. They seem to have different types of bread daily, but I ended up buying a regular bread due to freezer space. The bread is simple but delicious overall. If this is the case, I think their sandwich bread would be delicious as well. Next time, please come up with a way to defeat me!

Trans fats are not good for the body and are commonly found in shortening and margarine used in my favorite bread and cakes. However, Heidi's Bread does not use any shortening or margarine containing trans fats, and they have stuck to this policy for over 20 years. They specialize in making delicious bread, and even though it may seem a bit pricey in Kitakyushu, the quality ingredients make it worth it. I recently visited during a trip back home and tried their croissant for 280 yen, which was incredibly delicious. It reminded me of famous bakeries in Tokyo like Maison Landemaine or Echire, but at a more affordable price. Their Heidi's Bread for 90 yen has a soft and chewy texture, perfect for enjoying on its own. This small shop run by a couple is truly a hidden gem in the area.

This is a small bakery located near the intersection of Kanada 2-chome along Prefectural Route 270. After having lunch at a Western-style restaurant next door, I stopped by here. The shop is very small, just enough for one person to enter, and they mainly sell bread such as croissants and sandwiches. I bought three types of bread to take home: Heidi's bread for 90 yen, a simple bread with only the dough; toast bread for 680 yen, a soft and chewy loaf that is perfect for toasting; and walnut coffee pound cake for 380 yen, made with organic decaffeinated coffee and fragrant walnuts. The shop is located along Prefectural Route 270. Heidi Address: 2-1-3 Kanada, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City Phone: 093-592-3730 Business Hours: 11:00-18:00 (until sold out) Closed on Sundays, holidays, and Mondays (please note) Prices, business hours, and closed days are based on the visit, so please confirm with the store before visiting.

There is a coin parking next to the store. At first glance, with its cute pink appearance, it was unclear if it was a bakery. It is a small shop, but customers were coming one after another buying shokupan (Japanese milk bread). Inside the store, there were mainly shokupan and a few other types of bread, so I bought a croissant and a korokke pan (croquette bread) to take home. The croissant had a faint buttery aroma, was slightly light, and had a nice elasticity. The korokke pan was voluminous and had a chewy texture. It was delicious. The bread is baked fresh at 2 pm. The daily bread menu is posted at the entrance. The shokupan also looks delicious.

It is a small bakery in Canada facing the Nagasaki Kaido alongside tomatoes. I entered around noon and was told, "I'm sorry, this is all we have left." The narrow shop had an empty shelf on the left and only croissants and Heidi bread on the right. It seemed like a lot of people had already placed orders, including a man with a large bag. There were articles posted in the shop about the dangers of trans fats, giving a sense of a trustworthy bakery. I chose the croissant labeled with plenty of French butter and the simple Heidi bread. By the way, these were the only items left. The croissant had an incredible buttery aroma when I opened the bag. When I took a bite, it was crispy, and I felt like I wouldn't be able to experience this texture again. The taste and aroma of the excellent butter were amazing. The Heidi bread had a slightly firm outer layer and a soft, fluffy inside. It's a mysterious bread. It tastes delicious with its simple ingredients. There seemed to be various other menu items, so I would like to visit earlier next time to try them out. *I have not seen the other menu items, so I am refraining from rating the cost performance.

I went to buy bread. It's a shop run by a couple for over 20 years, known for their soft and fluffy bread. It's located in Kinda 2-chome, on the side street near the "Kinda 2-chome" intersection where the urban expressway runs above. The pink exterior is easy to spot. The small shop is crowded with two adults as soon as you enter. I've been there a few times and tried various items:
- White bread (1/2 loaf) for 680 yen: Thickly sliced, it's soft and fluffy with a mild saltiness and buttery flavor. Great for toasting too.
- Croissant (small) for 90 yen: Warm and crispy on the outside, rich buttery flavor inside. Delicious.
- Heidi's bread for 90 yen: Slightly hard on the outside, soft and slightly salty inside. Tastes better with a filling.
- Chicken cutlet sandwich for 480 yen: Generous lettuce and mayo with a small chicken cutlet. Tasty.
- Pumpkin croquette sandwich for 390 yen: Sweet pumpkin croquette with French dressing, a good combination.
- Croquette sandwich for 390 yen: Croquette with ketchup and lots of lettuce.
- Walnut and sweet potato bread for 280 yen: Sweet sweet potato paste and plenty of walnuts. Delicious and worth the price.
They also have Earl Grey and brown sugar bread, as well as daily changing specials starting at 2 pm. They don't take menu inquiries over the phone, so you have to check the signboard at the shop. Other cooking and pastry bread items are also available, making it a surprise each time you visit.

A small bakery in Kaneda that opens at 11 am. I arrived at around 11:40 and saw another customer trying to enter at the same time, so I let them go first. When I finally entered, I was surprised to see that there was only croissants left as the recommended bread outside the store. Everything else was sold out, except for some loaves of bread. Luckily, they had just finished baking some Heidi bread, so I bought two of those and a croissant. Although the loaves of bread looked delicious, they were quite large so I decided to try them next time. The bread is made without using trans fats, so it feels safe to eat and you can taste the dedication put into it. My child enjoyed the croissant, although I didn't get a chance to try it myself this time. The Heidi bread had a slightly crispy exterior but a soft inside, with a delicious taste of the ingredients. It's tasty on its own, but I think it would also be great to try with different toppings. However, the limited variety of bread options other than loaves of bread and the fact that many customers pre-order, especially the daily specials, so I recommend checking in advance before visiting.

I came to buy breakfast and lunch for tomorrow♪ I'm visiting with Tomato-san as well. Today, I purchased Heidi's bread (¥90 for a pack of 3) for ¥270. There were croissants available as well, but I wanted plain bread for tomorrow. Today, I also saw Heidi and Onji, and for the first time, I saw Adelheid (Heidi's baptismal name and her mother's name). If only Peter and the goats were here as well...♡ I always enter the shop if there are croissants available. Everyone seems to prefer sliced bread (the shop probably does too), but since I live alone, sliced bread is not for me. So, I always buy Heidi's bread and a croissant, and something else. This time, I bought a peach rare cheesecake bread for ¥230. All of these are for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. Croissants are my favorite. They are quite delicious, almost as good as the croissants from Gontran Cherrier (a French bakery in Parco, Fukuoka). The peach rare cheesecake bread has a creamy cheese filling with a sweet and sour peach aroma and a soft acidity, making it easy to eat. Sliced bread is usually taken out from behind the counter after payment, but Heidi's bread, croissants, and other breads seem to be limited in quantity and may run out by the evening. As others have mentioned, it's a good idea to reserve your desired bread in advance. Black bread (rye bread, but I'm not sure which one is correct) is not sold here. Of course, there is no goat milk cheese or dried meat (Bündner Fleisch) available either, but Heidi's bread is delicious. It might be fun to have raclette (a type of cheese and cooking method) with Heidi's bread♪

I heard that there is a delicious bakery that sells bread in this area. The shop is closed on Sundays and holidays and only open from 11 am, so it's a bit difficult for me to buy bread as it's not close by. However, one day I had some extra time during a weekday appointment and thought about finding a nearby shop to buy something to eat. I remembered the bakery that sells bread! I went to the small shop and saw a sign saying that the bread would be ready by 2 pm. It was already past 3 pm, but luckily there were still some loaves left. I bought two loaves, as well as some croissants and white bread. The bread was so soft and delicious, perfect for making sandwiches or just eating on its own. I gave one of the loaves as a gift to someone and they were very happy with it. They mentioned that the ingredients seemed to be good quality and safe for their one-year-old child to eat. I would love to go back to the shop when I have the chance, to try their freshly baked bread.
