Traveling to Hakata with my mother! I love eating a hearty breakfast with a focus on Japanese cuisine, so when I searched for a delicious breakfast spot, I found this place. However, no matter how much I searched, I couldn't find a way to make a reservation for breakfast only. It said it was only for hotel guests, but there was some information suggesting that if there was availability, they might let you in. I decided to take a chance because I really wanted to eat here! The day before, I enjoyed fresh squid sashimi and local sake, so I was worried I wouldn't wake up in time for breakfast, but my mother woke me up. This is also a way to show filial piety! I made an effort to arrive at 6 a.m. from my hotel near Chikushi Gate, but I got lost on the way! I had to go back to the station and then set out again after checking the directions. I finally arrived at 6:30, but there was a sign at the entrance saying, "Due to congestion, only hotel guests are allowed to use the facility today." I really wanted to eat there! The sign looked inviting, and the people eating there looked so happy. I hadn't researched other restaurants, so maybe... Could my mother, who is almost 80, make it work if she went in? Would they let her in if an elderly person with a hungry look on her face asked, "Can't we come in?" We were both feeling uneasy, but we couldn't rely on my mother to do the talking. With determination and a last-ditch effort, I asked the staff, "We're not staying at the hotel, so we can't come in, right?" And then they said, "It's fine now, come on in!" Yay! Yay! It was more expensive than for hotel guests, but that didn't matter to me! Right now, there's an early morning special with a chawanmushi included as a bonus, and I got a ticket for that. Seafood for breakfast! Sashimi, mixed sashimi, bread, simmered dishes, tempura, mentaiko - all delicious! The broth was so flavorful! The simmered fish wasn't too strong or too sweet - it was just right! The mentaiko croissant had a double cut with mentaiko inside, so it was a bit salty, but crispy and good. The chawanmushi from the early morning special had plenty of salmon roe on top - so satisfying! Each dish was carefully seasoned, and I left feeling satisfied! Thank you for letting us in.
