On the 4th day of my business trip in Fukuoka, I walked to the Nagahama area and visited San'yo Shokudo for lunch. It is located about a 6-minute walk from Akasaka Station, near the Fukuoka Central Wholesale Market Fish Market. This restaurant is operated by San'yo Co., a seafood company based in Nagahama that opened in July 2022. San'yo Co. also operates vending machines selling frozen horse mackerel fry at Tenjin Minami Station and Hakata Station. I arrived around 11:20, before the opening time, but they kindly welcomed me in. I purchased a meal ticket at the entrance ticket machine. The menu offers two options: Horse Mackerel Fry Set Meal (880 yen) and All-You-Can-Eat Horse Mackerel Fry Set Meal (1,100 yen). This time, I ordered the All-You-Can-Eat Horse Mackerel Fry Set Meal for 1,100 yen. The interior of the restaurant is very bright and clean. There are 23 seats in total, including counter seats and tables. I sat at a table for two by myself. Worcestershire sauce is provided on the table, and chopsticks, glasses, and paper napkins are self-service. There is also a free "horse mackerel sashimi" in the showcase. It's too luxurious to have all-you-can-eat horse mackerel fry and horse mackerel sashimi! The food arrived in about 7 minutes. The horse mackerel fry comes with 3 pieces in a regular set meal and 4 pieces in the all-you-can-eat set meal for the first serving, along with cabbage, tartar sauce, rice (Kinumusume), and squid and shumai dumpling soup. The horse mackerel fry, including the horse mackerel sashimi, is so luxurious that it makes your head spin. The horse mackerel fry from Matsura is thick and crispy. I asked the staff for soy sauce and enjoyed alternating between Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. You can request additional servings of horse mackerel fry, and they will bring more tartar sauce as well! In the end, I finished all 12 pieces (4x3) of horse mackerel fry. This restaurant is a must-visit for horse mackerel fry lovers! The customer service at San'yo Shokudo is also fantastic. Be sure to visit San'yo Shokudo at least once!

Despite being in a remote location, the high number of Google reviews and reviews here felt strange. Despite being a restaurant that only serves fried horse mackerel set meals, there is no sign of any dedication and the taste is not good. In fact, it's very bad. It's the first time I've ever felt that fried horse mackerel was bad. The horse mackerel seems to be blue horse mackerel. Three small fillets were served, freshly fried but lacking any fluffiness, indicating that they were likely frozen. It seems like they skipped essential preparation steps, resulting in a complete lack of flavor. Disappointing to think this is a specialty store. Furthermore, they use commercial tartar sauce which is sour. I would expect a specialty store to use plenty of eggs and make their own tartar sauce, but that wasn't the case. The cabbage side dish was dry and tasteless. The free horse mackerel tataki was also terrible, with bones still present and a bad seasoning. The soup was also bad, lacking in flavor. The squid shumai included tasted like imitation crab, so it wasn't good. The chopsticks provided were not disposable, which was unpleasant. The interior, cutlery, everything was cheap and even the water was lukewarm, with no redeeming qualities. And all of this for ¥880. The cost performance is terrible. This is more like a ¥480 quality meal. Truly the epitome of disappointment. With this kind of taste, they won't last long.

I went for lunch during the Bon holidays because I heard that you can eat authentic fried horse mackerel without having to go to Matsuura. There is no dedicated parking lot, but there is a parking lot across the road where you can park for 200 yen for 30 minutes. Inside the restaurant, there is a food ticket vending machine that doesn't accept cash. I decided not to go for the all-you-can-eat option and ordered the fried horse mackerel set meal instead. I'm not sure if it was freshly fried, but it was served to me quickly. As for the taste, it was delicious. The fish itself was tasty, and the way it was fried was perfect. Without a doubt, this is the best fried horse mackerel I have ever eaten. Another thing that impressed me was the horse mackerel sashimi that was all-you-can-eat as a side dish. It was sweet and very easy to eat, so I ended up going back for seconds. On the way back, I bought some fried horse mackerel from the vending machine in front of the restaurant. This is a restaurant that I would definitely recommend to everyone. Thank you for the meal.

Just a few minutes ago I had eaten, but couldn't resist... (T . T) I walked back and forth in front of the restaurant, pondering for 10 minutes... Ah, I ended up going in! Once inside, I didn't understand the system and just waited, and it turns out they have all-you-can-eat horse mackerel sashimi? It's like marinated horse mackerel in soy sauce! Well, this is perfect for drinking. After a while, the horse mackerel fry arrived! It was thick and had a slight fishy smell, but it was still good enough. Freshness is key for horse mackerel, but it's difficult to offer a lot of it without compromising the quality. Tartar sauce was already provided, and you can choose your own sauce! The cabbage dressing was refreshing and tasty! Thank you for the meal.

I found out about a specialty shop that serves my favorite fried horse mackerel, so I decided to check it out. I bought a ticket from the vending machine and took a seat. While waiting, I helped myself to some "sesame horse mackerel" from the refrigerated case. I had to wait a bit before my horse mackerel arrived. When it finally did, I took a bite without adding anything to it. The crispy batter and fluffy meat made me very satisfied. I quickly followed it up with some hot steamed rice. The sesame horse mackerel was also exceptional as a palate cleanser. The horse mackerel is said to be freshly caught in Nagasaki, and it tastes delicious even when eaten as sashimi. I'm sorry to say that I ended up getting three refills because it was just that good. When you dip the horse mackerel in the special mayonnaise and eat it, the taste changes, making you crave even more rice. I ordered another serving of rice while waiting for my refill, and then went back to the sesame horse mackerel. It felt like an endless loop. I recommend choosing the all-you-can-eat option – you should definitely try it at least once.

As a fan of fried horse mackerel, I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a shop specializing in fried horse mackerel operated by the largest distributor of horse mackerel. For a price of 1,100 yen including tax, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat fresh fried horse mackerel - truly generous. The horse mackerel is fresh, well-prepared with bones removed, and very delicious. I felt so happy. Payment is cashless only, but you need to be careful with the terminal reading. I would love to visit this wonderful restaurant again. Recently, a second branch has opened near Hakata Station.

In my profile, I mentioned that my favorite four-character idiom is "all-you-can-eat" lol. I've enjoyed various all-you-can-eat restaurants in the past, such as yakiniku, shabu-shabu, and sushi. This time, I went to my first ever all-you-can-eat restaurant and guess what they offered? "Fried horse mackerel" all-you-can-eat for only 1100 yen. The unique thing is they don't accept cash, only electronic money or transportation cards for payment. As a cash person, this was quite inconvenient for me. Despite having PayPay installed, I only had 8 yen left in it. So close! I had to rush to top up my account. After settling the payment, I was guided to the counter. I started with the horse mackerel fry set meal, which consisted of four pieces of fried horse mackerel with tartar sauce. The fish was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and had no fishy smell. It was delicious. The highlight for me was the horse mackerel sashimi on the side. It was self-service from a refrigerator and paired perfectly with rice. I ordered four more pieces of fried horse mackerel, each time they arrived freshly fried and delicious. I also got a refill of rice for 150 yen. Lastly, I had the promised horse mackerel bowl, consisting of fried horse mackerel, sashimi, and tartar sauce. In total, I had 8 pieces of fried horse mackerel and 4 plates of sashimi. Maybe I reached my annual intake of horse mackerel in one go lol. The staff were plentiful, but everything was self-service, including water, payment, and chopsticks. It was a good restaurant if you just want to eat horse mackerel. However, the atmosphere felt a bit cold, lacking in human interaction or conversation. Maybe it's because of the pandemic, but it seemed like this type of restaurant is becoming more common. The horse mackerel was delicious, but overall, I felt like I might not need to visit again.

2023.06 Visit - Fukuoka Expedition Edition - I love fried horse mackerel! This time, I ordered the all-you-can-eat set meal (1100 yen). Initially, 4 pieces (half fish x 4) are served, and you can request additional pieces from the staff. The set meal comes with soup, rice, and shredded cabbage, but refills for everything except the fried horse mackerel are charged separately. As many have mentioned, the free offer of horse mackerel sashimi is excellent! I had a total of 7 pieces with one refill, but maybe it's my age, I can't avoid feeling heavy after eating too much fried food... Eating only fried horse mackerel is delicious, but challenging (tears). The free horse mackerel sashimi is refreshing and tasty. I had it several times as well. I visited around 11 am on a weekday, and the restaurant was about half full. Within 30 minutes, it was almost full, showing its popularity. Orders are made through a ticket vending machine. The menu includes the following 4 options: Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal (880 yen), All-You-Can-Eat Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal (1100 yen), Fried Horse Mackerel and Squid Dumpling Set Meal (880 yen), and Extra-Large Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal (980 yen). This restaurant is located on the first floor of Sanyo Honsha, famous for its horse mackerel in Matsuura. There is also a vending machine outside for frozen fried horse mackerel for takeout.

This is my first visit. I had been curious about this place for a while, and I finally made it. The customers are mostly salarymen. When I entered the shop, the staff kindly explained how to buy the meal ticket in detail, and I was able to sit down. The freshly made fried horse mackerel was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I went with a friend who loves to eat a lot to Matsura's all-you-can-eat fried horse mackerel. The restaurant was almost full, with customers coming and going constantly. It was really busy! Orders are placed through a cashless system at a ticket machine. In addition to the all-you-can-eat option, there are other dishes available, but we opted for the all-you-can-eat fried horse mackerel with soup for 1,100 yen! Rice is sold separately. By the way, sesame fried horse mackerel is also included in the all-you-can-eat service! It was delicious, and we could eat as much rice as we wanted just with that alone! The fried horse mackerel was freshly fried and juicy. We enjoyed it with tartar sauce, regular sauce, and soy sauce, and in the end, I ate 10 pieces! I also had two bowls of rice! I was very satisfied! Thank you for the meal!

I had been wanting to visit a restaurant in Matsura where you can eat all-you-can-eat fried horse mackerel, and today I finally had the chance as I was working nearby. I arrived right after the opening at 11:30, and there was already a line before me. Shortly after I entered, the restaurant became full. Next to the entrance, there was a vending machine with a fried horse mackerel displayed, similar to the one I saw at AEON Mall recently. I immediately chose the all-you-can-eat course for 1100 yen at the ticket machine. It only accepted cashless payments, which might be inconvenient for those who prefer cash. While waiting, I helped myself to water, chopsticks, and some horse mackerel sashimi. The food was served in about 10 minutes, with a squid shumai included in the soup. The fried horse mackerel was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, very delicious. I finished the default 4 pieces and ordered an additional 5 pieces. I also decided to get extra rice for 150 yen. I topped the extra rice with more sashimi and enjoyed every bite of the additional 5 pieces. It was a great meal.

Today, my wife's usual golf lesson was canceled, so we decided to go to Sanyo Shokudo, a restaurant she had been wanting to try. It opened last summer and has become quite popular since then, with people lining up to try their famous fried horse mackerel. We arrived to find a few salarymen waiting outside, but they eventually left. Luckily, we were able to get a table for two without waiting. The restaurant was packed, with many customers ordering the all-you-can-eat option for 1,100 yen. However, we opted for the regular fried horse mackerel set for 880 yen each. They also had a new option on the menu, the fried horse mackerel and fried squid dumpling set for 880 yen. We asked for soy sauce in addition to the sauce provided on the table, as we prefer it with fried fish. My wife particularly enjoyed the sesame marinated horse mackerel from the all-you-can-eat option. It's nice to have such a great restaurant near our home.

I went to the all-you-can-eat fried horse mackerel restaurant, San'yodo. I lined up before opening time, and there were already two groups ahead of me. As soon as they opened, I went in and ordered the all-you-can-eat fried horse mackerel. While waiting, I tried their delicious "horse mackerel namero" three times. Then, the fried horse mackerel arrived. You can add soy sauce or tartar sauce according to your preference. I had a total of 10 pieces of the delicious fried horse mackerel. I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal, I will visit again.

Matsuura's fried horse mackerel is very delicious and famous. First, purchase a meal ticket! The fried horse mackerel set meal is 880 yen and the all-you-can-eat fried horse mackerel is 1100 yen. The set meal comes with 3 pieces of fried horse mackerel. The all-you-can-eat option includes 4 pieces of fried horse mackerel with unlimited refills! You can also get unlimited tartar sauce! The soup is like udon soup. It's also great that you can have unlimited servings of seared horse mackerel! Please note that cash payment is not accepted.

Mitsuyo, a seafood company that handles Matsura's fried horse mackerel. They also run a dining hall in a building near Nagahama Fish Market. Last year, I tried to visit for lunch but gave up due to the long line. It was very crowded, especially with families, during the winter holiday period. As the new year began and the winter holidays ended, I decided to visit again for a weekday lunch. The location is near a crossroads in Nagahama. A vending machine with red and yellow colors displaying fried horse mackerel is prominently placed in front of the building. The dining hall is on the first floor of the building, with a glass front. I arrived just after opening at 11:33, and although there were empty seats inside, there was a line at the ticket machine near the entrance. I had some trouble choosing from the menu and then deciding on the payment method, as it was a two-step process. Thanks to my prior research, I quickly settled for the "Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal (880 yen, tax included)" and paid with electronic money. I wonder if they also accepted cash. There were about three single counter seats and ten tables for two people each. The counter seats were already full, so I sat at a table for two. Cold water and horse mackerel sashimi were self-service, and when I prepared them, the meal was served promptly. On the plate were three pieces of fried horse mackerel and shredded cabbage, with tartar sauce on the side. The fish was slightly thick with a crispy texture, not greasy, and easy to eat. It felt light and not heavy with oil. I could probably eat all you can eat of this. The mountain of shredded cabbage had a bit of dressing. It might be even better if they offered more dressing options and allowed customers to add it themselves. The set meal also came with a soup with squid balls, which was unexpectedly delicious. I mixed the horse mackerel sashimi I took myself with the rice and immersed myself in the world of horse mackerel. Even with just the set meal, I was quite full. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

There was no parking lot, so I parked across the street and entered the restaurant. I visited on the 5th, three days after New Year's. I placed my order at the entrance using the electronic menu. Payment could be made with PayPay. Water, chopsticks, and self-service were available. Next to the water server, there was a mini fridge with free pickles inside. Today's special was seared horse mackerel. The soup came with squid dumplings. The fried horse mackerel seemed to taste the same no matter where you ate it. Maybe that's why the fried horse mackerel trend isn't catching on. There was also a vending machine outside.

[Aji Fry All-You-Can-Eat! ?] #BestMealI finally got to visit the Aji Fry all-you-can-eat restaurant #Sanso Shokudo that I had been curious about for a long time. Aji Fry all-you-can-eat... I added 5 more pieces because they were so delicious and I couldn't stop... *Extra rice is charged. I added 3 more pieces and was extremely satisfied. I felt like I ate too much, but I also felt like I could eat more. It was definitely a repeat-worthy experience. Thank you for the meal. I went to "Sanyo Shokudo" in Nagahama, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture! Located just a few minutes' walk from Akasaka Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line, right next to Nagahama Fresh Fish Market. This restaurant is run by the seafood processing wholesale company Sanyo, known as the "Holy Land of Horse Mackerel Fry" (the largest horse mackerel catch in Japan). You can enjoy horse mackerel from Matsuura, Nagasaki Prefecture. The day I visited, despite being a weekday, there was a long line before opening. The restaurant only accepts cashless payments, so be aware. You order your meal at the ticket machine and then wait for your seat. They offer a choice between a Horse Mackerel Fry set meal and an all-you-can-eat Horse Mackerel Fry set meal. Of course, I tried the "Horse Mackerel Fry Challenge" (laughs). The amazing thing about Sanyo Shokudo is that you can have all-you-can-eat horse mackerel fry. The horse mackerel fry is fresh, freshly fried, with tartar sauce, and meets all the delicious conditions, so it's obvious that it's "delicious" (laughs). Each piece is a bit small but satisfying because the meat is firm. The rice is made from high-quality rice "Kinumusume" from Shimane Prefecture, but the cooking method leaves something to be desired, as it is a bit mushy in parts. The soup is a seafood soup with "ika shumai" (available for purchase from vending machines) inside. The ika shumai has a satisfying texture, and the flavorful soup was delicious. After finishing the horse mackerel, it's time to chant the spell (laughs), "4 more pieces please!" "Add more tartar sauce!" You can also add more tartar sauce. "Horse Mackerel Fry Challenge!" Although I said that, that's where it ends (laughs). The people around me chanted 1 or 2 more times. For seconds of rice, you need to purchase another ticket from the machine. It's a bit of a hassle, so I recommend buying the ticket in advance if you plan on having seconds. The salaryman next to me was using this advanced technique (laughs). Another amazing thing about Sanyo Shokudo is the "Ajitataki all-you-can-take" where you can help yourself to "Ajitataki" in a miso flavor that tastes like namero. It's really delicious!! There is no fishy smell at all, and it goes very well with rice. And it's free! This alone could keep the restaurant running at such a level (laughs). Depending on the day, they also offer "gomasaba," which is also great. For 1,100 yen, the quality was excellent, making it a high-cost performance for horse mackerel fry lovers, like a "heaven" of a restaurant! Horse mackerel fry, ajitataki, and a cold beer would make it perfect, but oh well (laughs). I would like to challenge it next time in perfect condition (laughs).

I visited before 1 pm on a regular day. There were already about 3 people in line, but the turnover was fast so I was able to enter quickly! The fried horse mackerel was crispy and very delicious, but compared to the newly opened ○Fuku in Nakasu, it could be a bit better... However, the all-you-can-eat option is rare, and the unlimited servings of horse mackerel sashimi make it entertaining and highly rated! It's definitely worth a visit! ✌️

It was featured in a local information magazine. This is an antenna shop for deep-fried horse mackerel operated by a seafood wholesale company, "Sanyo," which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. The shop is very small, with a ticket machine right inside the entrance. The inside of the shop was almost full of table seats, with only one seat available. I purchased my meal at the ticket machine. The menu includes a horse mackerel deep-fried set meal (880 yen), all-you-can-eat horse mackerel deep-fried (1100 yen), and one piece of horse mackerel deep-fried (150 yen). Since it wouldn't be cost-effective to choose the all-you-can-eat option without adding two or more additional pieces, I opted for the regular horse mackerel deep-fried set meal. I noticed horse mackerel sashimi in the fridge for all-you-can-eat, so I filled a small plate with it. The dishes were served together on one tray, including three pieces of horse mackerel deep-fried, cabbage, rice, and soup. The deep-fried horse mackerel was freshly fried and crispy, with a crunchy coating made of fresh breadcrumbs. The fish was fresh and juicy, making for a delicious meal. It's a great place to enjoy homemade deep-fried horse mackerel. There is also a vending machine outside that sells dishes made with horse mackerel, so I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Fukuoka: A shop in Nakahama, Chuo-ku. Opens at 11:30, but I was able to enter 10 minutes early on this day. If you go after 11:30, there will be a line, so it's best to aim for opening time! When you ask for seconds of the fried horse mackerel, you can specify how many pieces you want. You can also get extra tartar sauce. The horse mackerel sashimi is all-you-can-eat!
