When going to a new restaurant, it can be difficult to decide between a set course menu or ordering a la carte. I went with my father this time, and we opted for the set course menu which included all the specialty dishes of the restaurant, as well as a pasta dish exclusive to the course menu. Since I am not good with alcohol and my father cannot drink, we chose the course without the drink all-you-can option priced at 4950 yen. The restaurant is located in Namba, just a little away from the bustling nightlife area but still on a street with many izakayas. We initially planned to go to an oyster bar, but the atmosphere seemed more like an izakaya and the menu offered more than just oysters, so we decided to try Kaizoku-san instead. The interior of the restaurant, while somewhat izakaya-like, had a refined feel to it and could be suitable for a date as well. There were no complimentary appetizers, and we started off with fresh oysters. Each person was served two oysters, and they were delicious and plump. Next, we had Changja, a Korean-style spicy dish with clams, followed by a sashimi platter featuring various seafood including amberjack, Thai fish, red clam, and scallop. All were fresh and tasty. The dashimaki tamago with three types of shellfish inside was a delightful surprise, and the shellfish steamed in a pot was flavorful and satisfying. Grilled honhamaguri clams, zucchini, and eringi mushrooms were also served, along with homemade deep-fried oysters with tartar sauce. The oysters were creamy and paired perfectly with the tangy tartar sauce. We enjoyed them with beer. Lastly, we had the option of choosing between a seafood rice dish or pasta. We selected the seafood pasta, which was rich in shellfish flavors and even better than what I have had at Italian restaurants. The dish was packed with the bold umami of the shellfish. Overall, for the price of 4950 yen, the quality and value of the course menu at Kaizoku-san were exceptional. I highly recommend the pasta option for those choosing the course menu. The dessert was a simple ice cream, which was a nice way to end the meal.

There are specialty shellfish stores in every city, and I found one in Namba, Osaka. We enjoyed a variety of dishes including simmered whelk, three types of sashimi (scallop, abalone, ark shell), and three types of grilled shellfish (oyster, turban shell, white clam). It was delicious!

As soon as you exit Namba Station in Osaka, you'll find Kaizoku-san, a shellfish specialty store that has caught your eye. On this day, I visited after making a reservation in advance. The menu I ordered included: - 2 Miyagi Onagawa oysters for ¥660: They had a firm texture and a thick, flavorful meat. You could really taste the essence of the sea in these oysters. - Korean Ezo abalone sashimi for ¥980: The abalone was large and had a crunchy texture. Each bite released a wonderful aroma. Delicious! - 10 Hiroshima oysters in a pot for ¥1,880: As soon as you opened the lid, a fragrant sea scent filled the air. The hot oysters had a great texture, and you could easily eat as many as you wanted. They also had Yona Yona Ale beer available. If you love shellfish, this is a highly recommended place to visit. Thank you for the delicious meal, Kaizoku-san!

I'm not a fan of shellfish, but I always found myself intrigued by the oyster lovers passing by the front of this restaurant haha. I never thought I would actually come here, but I ended up stopping by for some nutrition boost while feeling a bit under the weather. When they brought out the complimentary turtle hand appetizer, I knew it was worth coming here already. The food is delicious and it's not often that I get to enjoy seafood like this. Even for those who, like me, are not big fans of shellfish, there are some tasty seafood options on the à la carte menu as well. The raw baby whitebait yukhoe and the clam changja are quite addictive haha. I hope I'll recover soon. Thank you for your follow, likes, and comments. I appreciate it. Wishing for wonderful connections. Follow me on Instagram @kanae.0402 and my food account @kanae.0402sub. Thank you and have a great day!

Located in Namba, Chuo-ku, Osaka, "Kaizoku" specializes in shellfish dishes made with fresh shellfish sourced from all over Japan. The restaurant opened in June 2014 and offers a variety of shellfish dishes such as sashimi, grilled shellfish, and ajillo. One of their signature dishes is the "Kaki no Yakan Yaki," where oysters are steamed in a large pot. As a big fan of shellfish, especially oysters, I decided to visit the restaurant after making a reservation online via Hot Pepper a week in advance. I arrived at the restaurant, which is conveniently located near the Namba Walk B-5 exit, at 6:30 pm on a Friday. The place was about 80% full, and I had already pre-ordered the course menu when making the reservation. I opted for the "Yakan Course" which includes the signature dish along with other items. The course without drinks was priced at 2750 yen, while the one with all-you-can-drink was 4400 yen. Since I don't drink much, I chose the course without drinks and ordered a non-alcoholic "Kabosu Ginger" for 440 yen. The course included spicy cucumber, shellfish dashimaki, shellfish ajillo, yakan yaki, grilled hamaguri, hamaguri ramen, and dessert. I visited with a friend, and except for the orange sherbet dessert, all items in the course were for two people. The dishes were all delicious, with the spicy cucumber being sweet and refreshing, the shellfish dashimaki filled with a mix of clam, scallop, and oyster, and the shellfish ajillo packed with umami flavor. The yakan yaki consisted of around 10 plump oysters, each bursting with rich flavor. The grilled hamaguri were all substantial in size, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a light taste. The hamaguri ramen had two pieces of shellfish and a deliciously light broth with thin, curly noodles. I initially wondered if the course would be enough, but I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full. It was a delightful dining experience!

Location: About a 2-minute walk from Namba Station, although 1 minute may be an overstatement. Food & Drink: The restaurant mainly focuses on shellfish, so the prices are somewhat high. Drinks are on the expensive side. Atmosphere: The restaurant is clean and the table setup is nice. The unique atmosphere is probably set by the manager. It seems to attract a lot of female customers, but it's also fine for older men. It's rare to find a place that caters to both. Impression: The ordering process was a bit bothersome. Even though there weren't many customers, the service was slow and a bit disorganized. It may have been due to a shortage of staff, but I wish they had brought the food out faster. The restaurant prides itself on its shellfish, but I wish they wouldn't say "everything" when asked for recommendations. It makes it feel like a high barrier for a second visit. Overall, it's a nice and clean place, but it's a shame that the experience was a bit lacking. I might consider going back if the opportunity arises.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Likelihood to repeat: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cost performance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Located in Minatomachi, Namba, Osaka, this place is perfect for cooling off with oysters and clams. It had been a while since I had visited, so I decided to go with my colleagues for a drink at the last minute. We were pleasantly surprised to find a spot with a sign for clams among the many chicken shops in the area. Despite being fully booked, the staff kindly accommodated us for an hour. We ordered a draft beer, clam omelette, and steamed oysters. The clam omelette was delicious, with the flavor of the clam coming through in every bite. The steamed oysters were also amazing, especially when paired with hot sake. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes with a reservation next time.

It is located in an area with many bars near Namba Station. This time, we ordered a course meal. As they specialize in shellfish, the first dish, dashimaki, had shellfish in the filling. The bucket of steamed oysters in the garlic dish was cooked just right and easy to eat. The ramen at the end was also based on shellfish broth, light yet full of flavor, making it so delicious that you could eat multiple bowls.

I watched a TV special about shellfish and my mom said she wanted to eat some! The next day, we went to a restaurant that was featured on the show! We tried the Chambala shellfish for the first time and really liked it! It was a bit difficult to take out the meat, but it was satisfying when we did. It had a taste similar to seaweed. We also tried a shellfish sashimi platter with red clam, turban shell, and surf clam. We ordered a grilled shellfish platter with scallops in soy sauce and butter, sazae (turban shell) in a pot, and white clam with squid ink flavor. The scallops were the best. The sazae had a unique texture that was addictive, and the white clam with squid ink was a perfect combination. We also had a shellfish ajillo with clams, oysters, and scallops. It was delicious, especially the oysters. They served a variety of shellfish prepared in different ways. The service was excellent!

I visited the oyster and clam restaurant behind Namba's theater! They open at 3 pm, so I arrived right at opening time after finishing my shopping. I ordered fresh oysters and a grilled shellfish platter. Everything was delicious! The staff was lively and welcoming. It's a shame they only accept cash. Thank you for the great meal!

If you want to experience the perfect pairing of oysters and white wine, this is the place to go! I have visited this restaurant twice and have been extremely satisfied with the delicious dishes that are worth more than their price. The cost performance is 5 out of 5. Opting for à la carte on your first visit is better as the course meals are quite filling. Oysters definitely go best with white wine rather than beer! A top restaurant in Namba. The service provided by the staff is also outstanding. I will definitely go back again!

Dinner time at "Kaizoku" in Namba, Osaka, which was recommended by my senior who loves shellfish. Despite being a weekday, the restaurant was almost full and filled with energy. Making a reservation before going was the right decision. We were seated at the counter and started with a highball toast. The menu was rich in shellfish options, which got me excited. Tonight was all about shellfish, let's dig in! - Shellfish sashimi platter: Red clam, abalone, white shellfish. The glossy shells were all fresh and had a crunchy, chewy texture, each with its own taste and a hint of sea aroma. - 6 fresh oysters: Squeezed lemon over them and enjoyed the milky flavor spreading in my mouth. They were so delicious that I ended up ordering 4 more. - Butter-grilled scallops: The aroma of butter and soy sauce made the alcohol go down smoothly. - Butter-grilled clams: Personally, I preferred these over the scallops. - Specialty "Yakan-yaki" (small size, 10 pieces): Large rock oysters steamed and grilled in a big pot. The process of opening them with gloves and a knife was fun and reminiscent of a food stall. The plump oysters were delicious with ponzu sauce, but I still preferred the milky fresh oysters. The soup made from the remaining oyster essence in the pot, recommended by the staff, was enjoyed with hot sake. The sea aroma and oyster flavor spread in my mouth, making me happy. The oyster sake was delicious! The staff's service was polite, and I had a great time. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant had a strong focus on shellfish dishes, fitting for its name "Kaizoku" (pirate). The oysters were juicy and plentiful, while the shellfish sashimi had a satisfying crunch. The sea bream noodles paired well with both drinks and meals, settling nicely in the stomach. The bill came to around 10,000 yen for two people. The teapot also caught my eye!

The fresh oysters were incredibly delicious! The Miyagi oysters were sold out, so I had the Hokkaido oysters instead. They were big and milky, spreading happiness in my mouth! The butter-grilled clams were also delicious! Everything was fresh and perfect for seafood lovers. The abalone was also reasonably priced. I want to go back again!

In the midst of the pandemic, no alcohol was served as a precaution. Nice to meet you, Chambarami clam. It was delicious but hard to get the meat out - what a waste. Can't eat the tip, so you have to use your hands, not ideal for a date! The clam sashimi platter had three varieties: white bai clam - sweet and crunchy, I like it. Sazae clam - consistently crunchy. Tairagi clam - the sliced meat was like a delicacy! The clam omelette had asari, scallops, and oysters inside. I thought they used clam broth, but the meat was whole - it was okay. It would probably be tastier if they used more clam broth instead of whole meat. The oysters and steamed cans were in a small size, about 10 pieces, all about 10 cm in size. They were delicious, but the flavor seemed to seep out into the can. If they cooked it for a shorter time, it would be more juicy and delicious. It cools down quickly, so you can only eat 1 or 2 hot ones. It was interesting to eat them with a Tabasco-like lemon-flavored seasoning called Lemosco. We tried them as they were, with salt, ponzu, Lemosco, and soy sauce. They even reheated the leftover soup in a cup, and it was delicious to drink. The Hamaguri clam ramen had regular Chinese noodles and a salt-based soup, which was just delicious. The mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley) goes well with it. The sashimi was probably the most delicious.

As a fan of shellfish, I was brought to this restaurant by a friend. While most oyster bars focus solely on oysters, this place offers a variety of shellfish dishes, which I found very enjoyable. Every shellfish dish I tried was delicious. The grilled oysters were cooked to perfection, with a tender texture and a firm bite. The staff were all friendly, making this a place I would love to visit again.

Recommended shellfish restaurant by a shellfish lover. They really focus on shellfish! I chose the yakanki dish, which was recommended. It had plenty of oysters in it. They were plump and delicious! The clams were also large and tasty! It felt like they had been carefully selected. I ordered clams for the first time and they were delicious. I could tell they put a lot of effort into their dishes. I will definitely go back!

This is my first visit. After visiting the "Craft Beer Festival" at Takashimaya, I came here. The menu has a lot of options, but as the name suggests, they specialize in shellfish. You can enjoy a wide variety of dishes from raw shellfish to grilled ones. Thank you for the meal. If you like shellfish, you will enjoy it.

I chose this restaurant as my second stop! It always seems crowded around 8pm, and it's hard to get in without a reservation. Once inside, the smell of oysters and other shellfish further stimulates your appetite. On the tables of the surrounding customers, there are pots filled with oysters! Since it was my second stop, I didn't order them, but I promised myself to order them next time. The hot sake afterwards was also very tempting!

If you love shellfish, you have to visit this place! It was quite crowded inside, almost to the point where I thought we wouldn't get a table. The specialty of this restaurant seemed to be that kettle (lol). - Red clam sashimi - Clam ramen - Clam rice cooked in a pot - Sea grapes - Rock oysters from Shimane Prefecture Why is shellfish broth so delicious? Thanks for the meal! (•́✧•̀)
