The pork buns come in a pack of two for 420 yen. They are on the smaller side but have a good weight to them. The skin is thick and chewy, similar to bread. The main difference from convenience store pork buns is this. There is a generous amount of filling, but it doesn't stand out too much. The staff were efficient and quick, which was helpful. These buns are a popular souvenir from Osaka, but this was my first time trying them at Horaiken. Although I didn't feel particularly impressed after trying them, they were satisfying. They are not as big as those in Chinatown, but they are chewy and filling. Overall, I was able to cross off a task on my Osaka to-do list and I am happy about that.

They don't have chilled pork buns here, so I bought a pack of two pork buns that can be eaten right away, and some delicious-looking sweet vinegar dumplings. Here are the items I purchased. Prices include tax. - 2 pork buns: ¥380 - Sweet vinegar dumplings: ¥350 This was my first time trying their pork buns, and they were satisfying with a good amount of filling. The price didn't seem high compared to convenience store meat buns, and they were as delicious as I imagined. As for the sweet vinegar dumplings I bought on a whim, they came in a deep container with a generous amount of filling and I was really happy with them. This was definitely a good deal. I also bought chilled pork buns for my family at Shin-Osaka Station, but I shared the sweet vinegar dumplings with them and there was still plenty to go around.

I visited in April 2021. The location is right near the Midosuji exit of Osaka Station, a convenient place to buy before taking the train. I purchased 2 pork buns for 380 yen, 12 shrimp dumplings for 600 yen, and 2 limited edition bamboo shoot rolls for 380 yen each. Despite no one in line when I arrived, a line had formed by the time I finished my purchase. This is definitely a popular shop. I heated them up at home and they were delicious. Especially the bamboo shoot rolls, which were crunchy and tasty. I highly recommend them.

Chirudo is purchased before boarding the Shinkansen at Shin-Osaka Station. Warm pork buns, shrimp shumai, and sweet vinegar dumplings are bought here. You can't buy them at the Chirudo section. The sweet vinegar dumplings are made with plenty of ingredients, including onions. The pork buns bought in Osaka taste better than the ones purchased at the souvenir fair.

Originally, there were more dumplings in the set. Penglai 551's dumpling set comes with mustard. They are big and very delicious! They have a substantial bite to them, so they might be good for a diet too! I had them for breakfast.

It would be perfect with a beer! ・Pork bun 2 for 380 yen The skin is chewy and the filling inside is not only pork but also has the sweetness of onions! It's a comforting taste! I bought a pork bun, even though the menu states a minimum of 2 pieces, they were willing to sell me just one for 190 yen. Upon opening the bun, I was greeted by that familiar aroma. It was nice and hot, which was a plus. The thick and chewy skin along with the flavorful filling was delightful. It pairs perfectly with mustard. It made me crave a beer instead of tea. In conclusion, it was a delicious meal! You can also purchase these buns at underground stores in Hankyu, Hanshin, and Daimaru near Osaka Station, but if you want to buy a hot one immediately, this store is the closest. There are many 551 shops around Osaka Station. The shop in the basement of Daimaru was crowded, so I went to the Midosuji-guchi shop. I was able to buy my food quite quickly. The menu states that they only sell sets of 2, but they do sell single items for 190 yen. I wonder why they don't display it on the menu. When I tried it, the pork was juicy and the oil was sweet. This place opened on August 8th last year in a prime location, but it's surprising that it's not registered and I had to sign up as a new user. There are two registers, but one seemed to be unused so the staff went to make pork buns. The meatballs, 10 pieces, are cheap and although they used to be bigger in the past, they are still a good deal.
