This day, for the first time in about 10 years, I visited Osaka and met up with some foodie friends I connected with on Instagram at "Ueda Shoten." This place has a high hurdle with an introduction system and a non-public phone number, making it difficult for regular customers to find. Thanks to a kind invitation from my foodie friends, we were able to visit! Thank you very much! Located about a 10-minute walk from Harinakano Station, this restaurant is in a yellow building on a corner in a residential area, with decorations like a turtle shell and deer skull, giving off a unique vibe. The cozy interior with a Showa retro atmosphere has a few counter seats, a raised tatami area with two tables, which can be reserved for a small group. We were greeted by our foodie friends and ordered drinks, opting for the chef's choice course with all-you-can-drink option. We started with a toast with beer and had the deer fillet yukhoe as the first dish. It was incredibly tender with no gaminess, almost like beef yukhoe, and went really well with shochu! The wild boar harihari had delicious fat and a gentle sweetness in the broth, with the aroma of sansho stimulating the appetite. Next, we enjoyed the beautifully arranged wild boar grilled as yakiniku! We tried different cuts like loin with salt, loin with green onion, herb lemon salt, and red meat with salt, each offering a unique taste. The spare ribs with tare were perfect for sake, with a crispy texture and a sweet-salty sauce that paired well with alcohol. Finally, we had sukiyaki, where the red meat was flavorful and went perfectly with the egg. The takikomi gohan, cooked with the harihari broth, had a comforting aroma and paired nicely with the sukiyaki sauce. Although most of the members were meeting for the first time, the delicious food and drinks made the atmosphere lively and enjoyable. I would love to visit again to try the different game meats available depending on the season. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
