Get off at Universal City Station. Enter Universal Studios Japan and walk a little further to the street where souvenir shops are located on both sides. On the right side of the street, there is a souvenir shop that offers a variety of USJ character souvenirs. It has a quieter atmosphere compared to the Universal Studio Store across the street. ※ From January 31, 2018, the price for a 1-day pass to USJ is ¥7,900 for adults (tax included). I visited around 1 pm on a weekday in February 2018 and noticed that there weren't many people buying souvenirs in the afternoon, possibly because USJ has a no re-entry policy. This means you can shop leisurely without the crowds. Just before leaving the park, I remembered something I forgot to buy, so I used this shop. As a food reviewer, I felt compelled to try the Harry Potter series' Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. The Harry Potter goods section had a different vibe from other merchandise areas. I was about to purchase the beans when I was captivated by the beautiful design of the frog chocolate box, but the price of the beans turned out to be higher than expected, so I gave up on buying them. There were two types of Bertie Bott's Beans available: a large box and a tin case with smaller packets inside, with the tin case being more expensive. When I asked a male staff member about the difference between the two, he explained that the amount of beans was almost the same, but the box was closer to the original story. I purchased the beans with an expiration date of May 31, 2019, which was quite long, making the box a more affordable choice for a lonely person like me. The price I paid on February 1, 2018, including tax, was as follows: Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (box) ¥1,800. 170g of jelly beans for ¥1,800... USJ is truly terrifying. Despite the name, Bertie Bott's Beans actually have twenty flavors, including delicious ones like banana, green apple, marshmallow, blueberry, cinnamon, watermelon, cotton candy, cherry, lemon candy, and candied fruits, as well as suspicious ones like booger, earwax, black pepper, vomit, soap, dirt, grass, and rotten egg. The beans with suspicious flavors have distinctive patterns on the surface, making it easy to distinguish and avoid any mix-ups. I tried all the delicious flavors, with the marshmallow flavor impressing me with its sweetness. The cinnamon and cherry flavors look very similar, making it hard to tell them apart visually. I also tried some of the suspicious flavors and here are my thoughts: The soap flavor reminded me of accidentally tasting a toilet air freshener. I couldn't really tell what the grass flavor tasted like. If you're not a fan of sweet treats, you might want to include marshmallow flavor in the suspicious category.
